I love it how this thread has been constantly been dropping in quality ever since letters and Quad started listening to Oceansize.  ;)

Anyhow, Feed to Feed is such a fantastic live-album. Or live-DVD or whatever you wanna call it.

Dude, stop going offtopic all the time.
What does your post have to do with anything?

Again, Feed to Feed is awesome.

I've decided Frames is my favourite. I just can't get over the quality of the song run of Unfamiliar (love this one) to Only Twin. Then after the epicness that is ...Christy's you get The Frame, one of my favourite Oceansize songs. Great album.

Sounds great!  :tup
The good thing with Frames is that it's very hard to pick favorites, every song has it's part on the album, and combined it's just great.

It also definitely sounds like more of a cohesive album than a collection of songs, which is a quality I like.

I know exactly what you mean, because I feel the same way.
But when it comes to making albums, I feel like Oceansize had that quality.
People might argue about Self Preserved, but Effloresce, Frames and Everyone Into Position (tho maybe not as much as the first two) are really 'album'-albums.
Kinda the same with their EP's as well, both Home & Minor and Music For Nurses has a really great flow.  :tup

Sleeping Dogs and Dead Lions is the definition of a flow-killing song.

Sleeping Dogs and Dead Lions is not only a fantastic song, but it also works perfectly on album.
The place between An Old Friend of the Christy's and The Frame is just suited perfectly for Sleeping Dogs and Dead Lions, and I also love how the heaviness of the song is the opposite of the lightness of The Frame.
Dynamics at their best.  :heart

Well there aren't any news, but the only reasonable thing would be conflicts within the band.
I mean, they had just invested in a new studio for upcoming albums, and Mike said in several interviews how psyched he was about the future.
Seeing as Oceansize always were a very diverse band sound-wise, my guess is that everyone didn't agree on what direction they would take, though obviously this is just me speculating. ;)

That's what I thought, it seemed really bizarre :S Are there definite new projects from the various members in the works yet?

Well, there are several future-projects planned and such, though I'm not really sure if all of them will actually release stuff, but these are the sideprojects as of now:

*British Theatre (Mike and Gambler)
*Kong (Heron and Hodson)
*Mild Eyes (Hodson)
*Hhaitch (Mike)
*Richard Ingram (Gambler)
*Chandelier Swing (Hodson)
*Krem (Heron)
*Shamefaced (Heron)
*Gluck (Jon Ellis)
*Phelan (Gambler)

More info with twitter sites and such: https://sizeboard.com/

Personally I'm mostly excited about Mike's projects, though I'll certainly check out the others as well.
Oh yeah and also, Durose joined Amplifier, so pretty psyched about that.  :tup

I saw Amplifier live supporting Porky Tree. They were terrible =/

I hope some of the sideprojects turn out to be good, it's irritating when bands split and the new projects are a shadow of their former selves (SOAD etc.)

Yeah I know what you mean, though from your example I actually preferred Scars on Broadway over SoaD. (yeah I might be weird)
As for Amplifier, I haven't seen them live, but studio-wise they are really great.
Their debut album and The Octopus, can't wait to see if Durose is part of the band permanently or just additional live guitarist (like Mike was with Biffy Clyro).

And I don't really like Homage to a Shame
:tdwn
The weakest element of Oceansize was always the vocals.
:|
Ornament/The Last Wrongs is still Oceansize's best song though
:\
It's in the top5 fo sho.

Oh and I take back that Homage to a Shame sucks.
It's actually very good, just not as good as the rest of the album.

I don't really know where I would rank it on EIP.
It wouldn't be lower then New Pin, but it would still probably be closer to the bottom then the top, but it's still a fantastic tune.  :hat

Well, that actually made me interested in ranking the album.
Even though it's bloody hard, I would probably rank the songs on EIP something like this:

1. Music For a Nurse
2. Mine Host
3. Ornament/The Last Wrongs
4. The Charm Offensive
5. Meredith
6. Heaven Alive
7. No Tomorrow
8. A Homage to Shame
9. You Can't Keep a Bad Man Down
10. New Pin

Something like that I suppose.
