Man, this new song is very good. I've been listening to Gojira once in a while at work, and I think I'm finally starting to really like them. Maybe this new album will be their Koloss, for me (I love Koloss, and it made me appreciate the other Meshuggah albums even more).
Orion....that's the one with a bunch of power chords and boringly harsh vocals, isn't it?

I have.

It's not hitting me as hard as TWoAF did, but I've only listened three times so far, so it very well could be a grower.

That said, Explosia and Liquid Fire are my favorites right now.  Great tunes and Explosia is an excellent way to open the album.

I'm actually pretty underwhelmed by the new album. There doesn't seem to be much consistent "heaviness" here. Like, each track has it's outright brutal and pretty sweet moments, but it kind of tapers off very quickly every time. Also the slides. They were really fucking cool on From Mars to Sirius. On this...they feel over done.

It was only a matter of time for these guys to slip up. Four badass albums is a long run. Though this album isn't bad by any means, I'm just not super impressed by it (I hyped myself up quite a bit to be fair).
I felt its length in quite a few places.

I don't think it's a bad album by any means. With a three album run like that, expectations were set pretty high.

I'll admit sometimes I want to listen to Dragonforce.

Listening to it now, it really sounds like these guys are out of ideas. I mean a lot of the riffs sound almost recycled from The Way Of All Flesh, and the overall sound really hasn't changed at all. I'm sure I'll find some good songs on in though, Explosia and The Gift Of Guilt sounded pretty awesome.

Well, this is only my second Gojira album, I'll definitely check the other ones out soon.

I've grown to like it more. Explosia, the title track, Liquid Fire, The Gift of Guilt, and Born In Winter are all awesome. Also I take back what I said about the sound not changing at all, since the record is much slower and less heavy than their other works.
That said, it's not an album I'd listen to in full. There's no real flow and it's got many boring parts overall.

Pretty awesome album imo.

It sounds more mature, I really like it.
Jesus Christ himself* comes down amidst a choir of 2 billion angels singing Handel's Hallelujah chorus. As KrotchRaut shred randomly on guitars made of dragon bones using picks made from God's kidney stones, Jesus heals a blind woman who promptly gives birth onstage to a creation of pure light.

*Yes, Jesus Christ himself. Nothing less will do.

I saw this band in their first ever show in the U.S. back in 2006. They opened for Children of Bodom. I didn't know who they were and wasn't sure what to make of them since I was there to see Bodom. It seems like they've done quite well for themselves since that time. I listened to From Mars to Sirius, and I thought it was at least interesting. I will keep checking out their other music.

I loved the album on first listen, but if anything it's gotten less interesting to me over time. That said, I still like it a lot. Saw them play a couple weeks ago too, and they still absolutely slay live

It's funny seeing this band opening for Children of Bodom and not knowing who they were, and now they have received high praise and have a relatively large following for one of the younger metal bands. It's pleasantly surprising.

Joe has done guest vocals for the new Car Bomb track Third Revelation. This is good because:

a) It will give some exposure to Car Bomb, a largely unknown band who I absolutely adore
b) I've been waiting for new Car Bomb material for over 5 years

It's absolutely heavy as hell, although I feel it doesn't do the band justice. Every song on their last album Centralia is better IMO, but still glad to see them making new stuff.

Then you gotta check out their album. Third Revelation is a pretty straight song for Car Bomb. I won't link anything because it's against the rules but listen to any of the tracks from Centralia on YouTube or Grooveshark or wherever and you'll hear that they get a hell of a lot weirder. I know Gojira are big fans, aside from this collab they've toured together at least twice and Gojira were also in Car Bomb vocalist Michael Dafferner's documentary 'Why You Do This.' about the difficulties of making a living as an extreme metal band. He uploaded it to YT if anyone's interested.

I saw Car Bomb open for Gojira this recent tour and thought they were... pretty terrible honestly but that's the only exposure I've ever gotten to them.
Anyways, I've finally got around to listening to all five Gojira albums! Awesome band. :)

Album rankings:
1: The Way Of All Flesh
2: From Mars To Sirius
3: Terra Incognita
4: L'Enfant Sauvage
5: The Link

Been listening to this awesome band for a few months now. I even had the opportunity to see them live on a one-day-festival in Croatia where they shared the bill with Mastodon and Slayer. Very powerful on stage, humble guys. After the show they jumped from stage and did a "shakehands tour" with the front audience.
So, this weekend Joe will be on Full Metal Jackie and announce some tour news. Hopefully they'll visit South Europe once more soon  :metal

Regarding albums, my favorite one is The way of all flesh, although I also really like the latest one and their only released track from Sea Shepherd EP (Of blood and salt). You should give it a listen  :tup

I have all of their albums, and the EPs they did while they called themselves Godzilla (although I haven't listened to them yet). But I often listen to their official releases  ;)

L'Enfant Sauvage

It took me some time to really appreciate this album or the band for that matter but man what an album. Actually to be honest it was the "The Lost Episode" of the Metal Evolution series that trigged my interest.

I'm just now revisiting The Way of All Flesh since a long time, and man.. this is so awesome, I forgot how perfect The Art of Dying was, still my favorite Gojira song by miles. L'Enfant Sauvage is still alright, but it wouldn't come close to FMtS and TWoAF, though The Gift of Guilt is also one of my favorite songs.
