It's alright. Very similar sounding to Oroborus but definitely not as good.

Is this just a one-off single? I feel like these guys have been teasing a new album for a while now but it doesn't seem like one's coming out this year (probably a smart move, this year is cursed :lol)

I always figured that if somebody were going to invent warp drive it would be Gojira.

Sounds like a Gojira song. I'm cool with that.

I heard rumors of a new album, not sure how true that is.

Great new track. When I saw Gojira play in knotfest last year they mentioned they were working on a new album.

I think I read it's a one off single, but maybe that's because they are holding back on the album? I don't know, but I enjoy it even if it's a fairly basic Gojira song, it's still pretty damn good.  :metal

That is some nice artwork and art-style, very colorful. Great video and nice nod to Planet of The Apes.

Makes me think he had the concept already for both the song and video, and intertwined them. The song compliments the video and vice versa.

The Lost in Vegas guys love Gojira to death and they did a reaction video to the new song.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCB7jElTb3U

In it they mention when they met the band they were planning to release the new album around Sept of this year, though that may have changed a bit.

I know, right? The moment the opening riff came in I thought about Oroborus. I guess the guitar in the verse is comparable too but that's more usual. And I agree, hard to beat Oroborus, it's one of my favourite Gojira tunes :)

Adding: Lost in Vegas hear it too, we're not imagining riffs

I love the section at 2:05 with the drums and guitar effect or whatever it is.

It's a simple form but I dig the song, it has a clear message.

Nice. Hoping this isn't like Magma where the singles ended up being the best songs on the album, especially since Another World is kinda meh for their standards.

This new single has me pretty pumped. I really liked Magma and it's my favourite album of theirs, but this new song seems like a slight return to their older sound. I love that!

The drumming is pretty great! Already listened 3 times in the last 24 hours!

I have never listened to a single Gojira song, but I like Haken and Leprous and DT and Opeth, should I give their albums a listen? If so, which one should I start with?

You should. I think at times they could sound very...monotonous but overall I like them a lot. Here are my suggestions:

From Mars to Sirius (Top songs: Global Warming, Flying Whales, Heaviest Matter of the Universe)
The way of all flesh (Top Songs: Art of Dying, Esoteric Surgery, Oroborus)
L'enfant Sauvage (Top songs: L'enfant Sauvage, Liquid Fire, The gift of Guilt)

My personal favorite is The Way of All Flesh so I recommend that one. All their albums are good though

I'm not sure how similar Gojira is to those bands, but I only have Magma and really enjoy it.  It may be easier to start with if you aren't into the harsh vocals because it's toned back on that album.  I've heard a bunch of their older songs, I probably should get the other albums.  They are one really strong live band though, there's a power in their music that other bands aren't able to capture.

You should get them all.... there's not that many and they are all good.

Live, yeah..... I started to listen to them in 2005 but did not get to see them live until 2017 or so. Seen them twice now and wow.... fantastic shows both of them.

I am a big fan of Haken, DT and Leprous.  I am warming to Gojira starting with Magma.

The new singles and the singles from the Magma album are a great start (Stranded and Silvera).  Silvera is possibly the heaviest riff I have ever heard.

Thanks for all those suggestions! It sounds like they've gotten a little "softer" over the years, so maybe I'll start with Magma and work my way back. It's also only 45 minutes long, so maybe it's not so overwhelming  ;)

Looking forward to exploring this band!

Love Gojira and am looking forward to giving it a full listen, but i've heard all of the singles at this point and haven't enjoyed any as much as Another World.  Hope I enjoy the rest of the album more and those tracks grow on me over time
