The difference between what you post here and what you send in roulettes is kind of fascinating.

So, if I'm at my work station for most of the day, I'll generally go with a theme, like to day was Classic Live Albums by my Favorite Bands kind of thing.

Sometimes I group albums by year, or listen to the same band for the day.

Because the music is playing over speakers and not headphones, I try to minimize the harsh vocals a bit as people are constantly walking through my area. Not that it's a huge issue.

Couple of recent releases:

Munroe's Thunder - The Black Watch: Band led by, well, Ronny Munroe (at some point singer for Metal Church). This was a fun listen. Heavy metal that's both melodic and "dramatic", crunchy but with abundant doses of keyboards too (more hammond-like). Good vocals and good songs

MMXX- Sacred Cargo: Sort of a gothic/doom supergroup, had no idea. Core members are guitarist (formerly?) from Italian band The Foreshadowing plus bassist and drummer from US band Daylight Dies. They then have a bunch of guest singers - among others, Mick Moss (Antimatter), Carmelo Orlando (Novembre), Aaron Stainthorpe (My Dying Bride) and the mighty Dan Swano! The sound is actually pretty consistent, despite the different singers. It's appropriately morose and melancholic, as you'd expect. Not rewriting the rules of the genre, really, but it's very well done. Great production and tasty guitars. And yes, the closer sung by Dan Swano is excellent - we get to hear him do both cleans and growls. Only one listen so far, but I enjoyed it.

The other thing is that when I'm at work, I generally listen to things that I've been meaning to get to, but never do. Kind of like the thread about that here. At home, I'm in more of a discovery and exploration mode.

The first song was a bit off, but dug this the further I got. I love the keyboard sound you mentioned.

Remina - Strata

https://remina.bandcamp.com/album/strata

Of course over half the album had already come out via singles, but the quality of the rest is on the same level, so this is easily one of the best albums this year.

Yes I agree with you ;)

Have you heard her :LOR3L3i: material?

Yes, thanks for the recommendation ;)

HAIM - Women in Music, Part III

I remember I enjoyed their first album, Days Are Gone,  a fair bit, but then lost track of what they've been doing. Is this good?

This one is holding up real well, after several spins. As I said before, this might be my favorite with La Torre. Certainly the one with my favorite production, plus the songwriting is very strong.

I am liking it quite a bit.  It is the first I have heard from them, but I like it enough to get the first two here soon.  Nice blend of rock, a little pop and great vocal harmonies.

The first had a good number of singles...it was a pretty cool-sounding album...for example:

"Forever" - This one kinda sounded like a more indie, all-female version of Tango in the Night-era Fleetwood Mac:

"The Wire" - a bit of T. Rex glam influence...?

"If I could change your mind" - 80s catchiness

That Tribulation is so good.  I think it's my fav from them.

What's the second album?  I'd like to know so I can say 'sounds interesting, I'll try and check it out' but forget about it and never actually check it out.

YES! Really nice album.

One song in, and this is really great stuff.

Fuck, this really is a top 10 of the year album contender. The opening track really is amazing.

Onto this now...

Thanks for the links, but I don't want to jump the gun yet.  Feels like a band that needs their own thread so fans can discuss more.
