Book of Shadows 2 (Zakk Wylde) is coming out soon.

Up above is the 1st single.

What do you guys think?

Boring, not for me.  I won't be checking it out.  Even his solo is nothing special at all. I'll wait for the next BLS.

It wasn't what I was expecting, and I mean that in the best possible sense. Still, it's not really my thing.

A track from the upcoming Defiants release. (Laine, Ravel, Marcello)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WsGrfeuFuc

A mix of D2 and the Marcello Vestry album if you ask me.  I actually think this is really good melodic rock.  Really excited for this now.

Sounds nice... a little too powder puff for me though.  Could be because I'm listening to Dream Evil at the moment, so changing gears to this was a bit of a shock.   :lol

Pretty good.........I expect there will be at least a few killer songs on this release.  I wouldn't say this is necessarily one of them , but it's solid enough to keep me anticipating it.   Nice guitar work from Rob as usual.

Listened to it earlier. Very generic sounding melodic metal/rock. If they release something better from the album, I might still have a passing interest in it, but probably a pass.
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.

Apparently I took another wrong turn and ended up in this thread again.

That song reminded me of the late 80's. In a bad way.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Just caught up with the Treat and Defiants. Hmm, preferred the Defiants tbh, though it was fairly average stuff. Still, I managed to listen all the way through - I turned the Treat track off after about a minute or so and the played the bonus track from Coup de Gras which I'd never heard. That is a really good song, the new one isn't.

I really liked that Defiants song, did remind me a bit of the last D2 in a few ways.

I'll check that Treat bonus track later.

Funnily enough, new Ted Poley also, May 13th.  Of course it features you know who, Frontiers pinup boy of the month.

Yeah, heard it yesterday. Not surprisingly, it sounds like it was churned out of the Frontiers production line. It's not that it sounds bad, but it sounds just like everything else they've released.

To be expected with what's his name in there.

The EPK if anyone is interested;

Sounds alright though, but yeah, we know what we're getting.  Ted seems like a super chill, down to earth guy too.

EDIT:  Can't stand that Issa bitch though.

I'll put on my best Italian Alessandro  accent............  what issa your problem with that Issa biatch ?

I can't believe the stuff that the melrock crowd rave over these days - I sample stuff like Issa etc.... and wonder why my tastes have diverged so far from the guys I used to be in sync with.

This Martina Edoff thing is getting rave reviews all over.......best album of 2015 etc....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OF1xg4tBM9c

I wouldn't call it dire but WTF  ???  Maybe I am not happy enough.

Pretty hot milf, but that's about it.  Absolute shit song, and Snowy Shaw has sunk to a new low playing this sort of crap.

But seriously, both Issa's albums are absolute horseshit, and she's fucking ugly.

I agreee with you Brent, my tastes keep drifting away and away from this stuff that use to turn me on so much a few years ago too.  It can't be us, surely the quality of the releases are just getting worse and worse.

I always thought that Melodic Rock was one of my favorite music styles but for the last years there are more and more bands and players I've never heard of and when I sample them, the band names are dumb, the album covers are awkward and the music sounds generic as shit and not in a good way. Am I growing old?

I think Frontiers music has just committed genericide on the entire genre, watering it down to a production line to make them a quick buck off the people who are still content to listen to the same thing over and over.

There are still some great albums being released in the genre, but it requires wading through more stuff than ever to find it. The genre is past it's heyday though, for sure.

A good chunk of these song samples just have too much of a bubble gum/pop sound to it.  I enjoy melodic rock just as much as the next guy, but there needs to be some kind of edge to it.  Just not hearing much of it lately.

The problem is that they aren't bands with an identity, just cookie cutter stuff like pop has become. There's no character to any of it and the people singing the songs have no emotional attachment to them because most of the time they haven't written them.

Come on bro, she doesn't look that old. Plus being a GILF doesn't make any difference these days when it comes to age haha.

Sort of what I was asking too.  Not sure if it's me, cause a mere 5 years ago, everything Frontiers was releasing IMO was gold, now it's exactly like everyone is describing here, so I guess it's not us.  Even the Ted Poley EPK sounded quite weak by the end of the vid.

The problem is that they aren't bands with an identity, just cookie cutter stuff like pop has become. There's no character to any of it and the people singing the songs have no emotional attachment to them because most of the time they haven't written them.

This is true, unless it's a band creating their own music it seems to come off this way.  This Alessandro guy I think seems to actually be one of the worst things for the genre at the moment, but saying that the last Kelly Keeling, Hardline, Revolution Saints and the first Find Me were all really good, so I don't know.

I just think he needs to lay off, I think they should put Karlsson back into the mix a little more, he seems to be one of the only ones that can write a decent memorable album for any singer that's given to him.

I hope the new Sunstorm doesn't turn out to be shit either.  Hoping for some originality and creative songwriting on that one.

Funny, I intended to try to get into Circus Maximus again (my first attempt after my previous roulette didn't end well) with maybe listening to the new album - I even have a promo sitting in my e-mail - but seeing all your reactions to those released songs... I think I'll pass.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.
