I read that yesterday. I'll always check out whatever Aldrich is doing in future. He did great stuff with Whitesnake.
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

Yeah, the last Whitesnake was pretty good.

Interesting to see what Coverdale does now.  Reb Beach is probably kicking Doug out the door, but I doubt Reb will become the main man.  Even though he's a more skillful guitar player, he was better for the Vai stuff but lacks the real blues feel that Aldrich and Sykes had.  That's what made the Beach/Aldrich team so good.

Did you check out the Burning Rain album last year? Didn't do it for me. His Whitesnake contributions have been fine but I can't listen to them due to old Cov's ruined voice.

Coverdale's voice still sounds great in the studio. I have the Burning Rain album, but the vocals were kinda bland.

I think Forevermore was a bit better overall. Still a heavier take on the Whitesnake sound, but a bit more rockin'. If you like one, chances are you'll like the other too.

It opens with the weakest tracks, which doesn't help. I've never much liked those opening two tracks. It's much stronger from the title track onwards.

Just played Forevermore and enjoyed it. Jsut not loving latter day Dave vocals. He was once so awesome. Age is a terrible thing.  :(

I think DC is still sounding great in the studio, especially for a dude of his age. You have to remember that the S/T was over 25 years ago now!

I'm going back alot further than the st. Come And Get I, Saints & Sinners and Slide It In were great albums, albeit a far cry from the more metal direction of 1987. But I can't agree that DC sounds great on the last 2 albums. He's screechy and rough and sounds like he;s singing through gritted teeth on the rockier tracks. He's ok on the more mellow tracks but nowhere near great.

He's always had a screechy quality to his voice, and I still love the way he sounds on those higher notes, and the timbre of his lower register has perhaps even gotten better with age. And he can still pull off all of the signature Coverdale articulations and style. The man is still great.

TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

I can handle diminished vocals as long as the music is good enough. But is anything they've done musically recently interesting at all?

Yeah, DC's vocals are pretty much shot.

For someone who started in the 80s, I'd say he's better than Dokken and Tate, but not quite as good as Eric Martin or LaBrie.  Somewhere in between.

Yes. Their last two albums are very good, and DC's still definitely got the pipes. Forevermore is better than Good to be Bad, but they're both worth checking out if you're a Whitesnake fan.

So, Timo Tolkki's new Avalon album is up on Spotify. :)

It's...everything we were expecting it to be. A couple of the songs are almost decent - Jerusalem is Falling and Neon Sirens - if only because they break away from Tolkki's generic copy/paste songwriting a little bit. But otherwise, it's just The Land of New Hope v2.

From Melodicrock.com

BIG CELEBRATION FOR AXEL RUDI PELL:
July 11, 2014 will see Axel Rudi Pell celebrate his 25th Anniversary as a solo artist by performing a very special show at the prestigious Bang Your Head Festival, in Balingen, Germany.
Today Axel reveals all the secrets:

"This year we are celebrating the 25th Anniversary of my solo career, my first solo album Wild Obsession came out in 1989. Therefore, we will play a very special and unique Show at the Bang Your Head!!!¯ Festival in Balingen, Germany, on July 11th to celebrate this and we will headline the festival on that day!
This will be no regular show by far! Of course we will play a lot of songs with the recent AXEL RUDI PELL line-up featuring Johnny Gioeli, Bobby Rondinelli, Ferdy Doernberg, Volker Krawczak and myself, but this will only be 1/3 of the complete show approx... As this year also sees the 30th Recording Anniversary of my former band Steeler (the first record was released in 1984), we will reunite in the original Line-Ups (Peter Burtz, Tom Eder, Jan Yildiral and both Bassplayers Roland Hag and Volker Krawczak) to perform a couple of songs for you. The reunion will only happen on that day and it will be an exclusive one-off!
Furthermore we will have a few ARP vintage members there and we're proud to announce that both Vocalists Rob Rock and Jeff Scott Soto among original Drummer Joerg Michael will enter the stage too to play a few older ARP tracks!
As this ain't enough … Lol…, I invited some other musical guests and friends to play a few cover tracks together and I'm really proud to announce the following guests in no particular order:

Graham Bonnet (ex- Rainbow, -MSG, -Alcatrazz), Joe Lynn Turner (ex- Rainbow, -Deep Purple, -Yngwie Malmsteen) Doogie White (ex- Rainbow, -Yngwie Malmsteen, Michael Schenker's Temple Of Rock) John Lawton (ex- Uriah Heep, -Lucifers Friend), Tony Carey (ex- Rainbow), Vinny Appice (ex- Black Sabbath, -Heaven & Hell, -DIO).
Be there at this very very special Show, which will be a lifetime event and will last for more than 3 hours. Have fun!"

Now this needs a dvd recording.
