Well, I had actually heard some of Act II first.  The vocal production or something similarly minor scared me off for then, I think.  But then I heard Act I, and then I went back to Act II and loved it.

Then Act III came out.

Sound quality gets a little wonky at the end, but tell me that isn't the coolest way ever to end a concert.  (I was there :) :))

I checked this band out.

I'm starting to hate this forum, i'm finding too many amazing bands/artists way too fast in a short time.

I got Ariich to thank for discovering The Dear Hunter, reading his texts about how amazing Act: III was, really pushed me to check it out.
I haven't spinned it in a while now, but it is really fantastic, and I really love this style of progressive music.
Not really sure which one to go for next though, Act I or II? :)

Glad you like it so much dude! :D

Get both, Act I is only really an EP. In terms of which to listen to first, I guess Act II is the stronger one overall (some really amazing standout tracks) although it's not as concise as Acts I and III.

Bought my Dredg ticket, so now I'll officially be seeing The Dear Hunter for the first time. I hope very much that they do a lot off of Act III.

Do you have any idea what a download of all the EPs will cost? If it's close enough to the box set, I might as well get just get that. But since I don't really listen to vinyl I'll just download it if it's cheap enough.

I guess either way I'll find out Monday.

Is there a CD pre-order site somewhere?

They aren't being released on CD.  There's a single disc 11-song version, that's a sort of "sampler," but the full set is only electronic or vinyl.  CD Version here: https://www.merchdirect.com/TripleCrownRecords/CDs/The_Color_Spectrum?productid=14048

Bought my Dredg ticket, so now I'll officially be seeing The Dear Hunter for the first time. I hope very much that they do a lot off of Act III.

I wouldn't count on that.  They've got 36 new songs and probably only about a 30-45 minute set.  I'm guessing it'll be a mix of new stuff and "win over new fans" stuff.

Actually... the initial e-mail was misleading.  Seems like it's a public link.

No official info, but my guess is that it'll be around $30.  There's no way the digital version is gonna be anywhere near as expensive as the vinyl.

Guess I'm just getting the digital copy then.  I hate not having a physical copy FFS, and I'm not buying a record player so it can collect dust.
