What, whenever they go on tour you just ask them to come over to your house?

Lol... I wish!  Earlier this month Casey did a cross-country drive from CA to Rhode Island where he played 7 "secret" fan club solo acoustic shows along the way, mostly in random fan club members' living rooms.  I wasn't on his route, but I e-mailed him about it anyway and he told me that after he's done in Rhode Island, he'll be spending 3 weeks tracking the Colors EPs at a studio on Long Island (which happens to be in the town where I grew up), so I figured I'd take a shot and ask him if he wanted to do one more, and he said yes.

It's actually a combination fan club acoustic show / surprise birthday party for my good friend (who is equally as obsessed with the Dear Hunter).  She thinks she's just coming over for a small gathering of close friends though... little does she know that she'll be greeted with a personal set from one of her all time favorite musicians.  :metal  (p.s. ~ this means that, for anybody who's friends w/ me on facebook - Don't mention this on my wall!!)

Is the fanclub different from that lifetime package that was sold several months ago?

I had to post this. Seth Deming (https://sdeming.blogspot.com/) created this video and while it isn't an official video, or an official recording of the song, the video is really beautiful and I wanted to promote it in any way I could. Please check it out and give him some love! He also has a video of another song from the house show that night.

Still haven't gotten my package yet... I wonder where it could be.  :/  (Although I already picked up my vinyl at a show, and I think the posters and letters are coming later, so really I guess my "package" is just the laminate at this point?)

yep and I think the chance of getting a golden ticket. Cuz all that was in mine was the Act I-II double-vinyl, and the laminate with a taped typed-out note explaining the posters and letters are coming soon.

Holy shit.  Most amazing night ever.  Very informal and casual.  He only ended up playing a total of 8 songs, but they were spread out over the course of FIVE hours.  He showed up around 9:15 and stayed 'til like 2:30 in the morning.  He's one of the most ridiculously funny people I've ever met in my entire life.  The entire night was basically just hanging out making silly jokes about the most random crap, and every once in a while saying "Hey, feels like time for another song".  Songs he played were:

Green Song
Brand New White Song (He said it was the first time he's EVER played it for ANYONE)
Mustard Gas
Life & Death
Where The Road Parts
The Church and the Dime
Black Sandy Beaches
Red Hands

I'm still having trouble believing that it actually happened...

if only I could start recording..damn..and Jessy Ribordy (The River Empires) is going to be making an appearance..

Quote
All the ladies in the house say "What?"
Posted Dec 13, 2010 12:00:00 am

So- at up until this point, as I said earlier, I have been composing 'scores' of sorts- simple things to put over the videos that I am posting to update everyone on what is going on... (as you have seen/heard in the TDH travel videos on this site). What made this easy on me was the complete lack of consequence the music had, at least in the grand scheme o' things, in that the music was meant to live and die there in the videos. I thought to myself: "Self- you're writing and recording 9 eps at the moment- no reason to compose more music for release." The half of me that responds whenever addressed as 'Self' agreed wholeheartedly.

Together, me and I had quite a good understanding of the natural detachment I was meant to feel from these ditties and for 4 or so videos, things went swimmingly.

Then, the other night, I stayed up until about 5 tracking a song meant only to fulfill the Audio track in Final Cut- to accompany the 50 or so video clips I had dropped into the timeline. I finished the song to the best of my ability that night, leaving a verse without vocals- and then I had a conversation with a friend of mine (Jessy Ribordy [Falling Up/The River Empries/Incredible Human Being) and out of nowhere one half of me, though I am not quite sure which one at this point, said,"Hey you want to hear a song?"

After he heard the song and we discussed it a bit, the other half of me asked Jessy if he would be interested in singing the 2nd verse, which was unwritten. Both halves of him responded in a resounding "Yes!", which was a welcome response to both halves of me, and now that all 4 of us were in agreement, he set off to track something fun- which both of us have yet to hear.

Leading me to Two important developments...

1. I am going to finish the music that I was working on for scoring these videos, along with some help from both of my friends Jessy, and eventually put them up for you guys to check out.

2. (And most importantly), Id like to keep on creating these videos, but instead of focusing on writing scores for these, I think what would be INFINITELY more exciting would be to allow anyone to send in music for me to use to cut the video to. I would of course give ample credit for the music both in the YouTube info, the post here on this site, as well as in the title sequence of the video it was featured in. SO if you feel so inclined send any song in MP3 format to thedearhuntercolors@gmail.com. Please include your full name, the name of the song, and any other info you want to include. I cant promise Ill use it, but I can promise I will listen and if it fits with a video I am making I will drop it in.

This isn't meant to suggest that WOW ITS SO AWESOME TO HAVE A SONG IN A TDH VIDEO UPDATE- its really that I love interfacing with anyone, and collaborating on anything no matter how big or small, and when the idea struck, it seemed fun... so if it sounds like something you would like to do- do it!

Also, Audio quality is not a big issue- if its anything from a track you recorded on your macbook mic, to a full produced track at abbey road,  anything is welcome!

As far as a COLORS update, I have 3 days left on vocals for White and Violet, and then its back home for a short stint off! Cant wait to post some more video!!!
