Caustic are the ties that BIND!

...Just felt like saying that. Been listening to In Waves a lot recently.

Man, I thought we'd have some album info and songs by now.  Weren't the band planning on releasing this in September?

EDIT: Just realised that there is a snippet on the website but you need a phone that can do this, I only have an old piece of shit that can hardly text.

Waiting for someone to upload a video to YouTube of them "covering" the snippet.

October 2013, it says that's when the new album is out. It's on the tour poster for them, Devildtiver, Sylosis, and After the Burial

In Waves is fucking amazing. It's got nothing on Shogun though, the title track is the best that Trivium ever did and they're unlikely to ever top it.

:( I've tried to get into Shogun.

Apart from Kirisute Gomen and a couple of others - I find it hard to listen to and some of the transitions are really awkward.

In Waves just seems streamlined, concise and effortless in comparison

This.  Other than Down From The Sky, if Shogan had been my first exposure to Trivium, I might very well have passed on them as being just another "good" band that doesn't quite click for me.

Different strokes, I suppose, though I'm struggling to understand why someone who likes Trivium doesn't at least like Shogun (the track). To me it encompasses everything that's great about the band.

For me, I honestly have a hard time remembering that song.  I'm not trying to knock the album or anything, but I do find myself losing interest part way through and not really paying much attention by the time I get to Shogun.  Listening right now, and I do like it.

Listen to the song immediately and report back on how it changed your life for the better in eleven minutes, got that son?

Take your time.  I tried listening to it on double speed, but it only changed my life half as much as it should have.

Shogun actually took about a year to 'click' with me. But when it finally did, it's all kinds of amazing!! Definitely like it more than In Waves.

After listening to Shogun, it is definitely epic, but I'm not sure it beats In Waves or Caustic Are The Ties That Bind.

You can hear their new single "Brave This Storm"

What the fuck it sounds like David Draiman wrote the fucking song. Vocal delivery emulates him, the heaviness of the song is tacky and not that heavy at all. Man I'm disappointed, and I hate to sound so harsh, but the song really left me cold and limp. Not sure I'm looking forward to this album anymore.

Guitar solos are rad, and the 5 or so seconds where Heafy does his harsh vocals sounds good, but that's the only nice things I can say about this song.

Huh. I have to agree with you. Guitar solo was pretty coo, though.

I'm not going to write off the entire album, but this definitely has me concerned.

So much for it being heavier than In Waves....

Also the intro is All Nightmare Long.

That could have been off The Crusade with better production.

The songs okay, but hopefully this is like the Built to Fall or A Grey So Dark and there's some heavier shit on the album.  And please, I hope they haven't gone towards the Crusade style and dropped a lot of screaming.

The entire song save solos and harsh vocals for 5 seconds emulates Disturbed, mainly the vocals, but also the music at many times.
I actually like some Disturbed, such as the album Indestructible, but Trivium should not sound like that, and it quite frankly turns me off of the band.

But Built To Fall and A Grey So Dark were good. This one's just boring.

Seriously though, Matt's screams are really good. The band would be as good without them, I think.

The Crusade was an album gone wrong.....anything that reminds us of that disc can't be too good  :-\
