Hello Sacul! This is a little bit minimalistic for me so didn't leave a strong impression but I do enjoy this kind of thing as you very well know.

This is a bit rough to my tastes at moments but given what the song is about, it makes sense.

Oh hey that's kinda lovely.

I'm guessing one of these three? Maybe the Sacul one.

this mine?

hat's the chorus? Did they spend 10 minutes writing it and said "yeah that'll do"? Rest of the song was very solid but that chorus, man.

Absolutely not. Are you familiar with Haken?

Maybe I'm just too deranged these days and none of these impressions make sense. :lol

Totally nailed the "to annoy" theme here! I really should've known better than to allow players to pick the themes.

This is a bit rough to my tastes at moments but given what the song is about, it makes sense.

This should be a strong contender for "to plummet" theme. Quite relentless, maybe a bit too much.[/i]

would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

Did I nail the ‘annoy’ theme yet?

Sorry guys! I got married about two weeks ago and I’ve been spending time offline since. Also I have important exams coming up which I’m studying for. I’m not intentionally stalling and I’m glad to see our host has just continued without the terrible submission I just sent him. Lucky for him it’s only 2 minutes long, so listening could go 2-4 times as fast :)

And I also hope your wedding night submission was longer than 2 minutes. ;D

Reminds me of Dire Straits or maybe Mark Knopfler's solo work, and I do like both.

What you really needed is something to make a better song. :neverusethis: No, I dig the somewhat uneasy atmosphere but not exactly sure how this will pan out on the future spins.

Is this a singer from Serenity? Oh, there are growls. Maybe not then! I wonder what Serenity would sound like with growls.

This is a bit rough to my tastes at moments but given what the song is about, it makes sense.

Out of context I think my song could be slightly misleading if this is the impression for it, so we'll see.

One of these three?

Not at all!

Five impressions

Usually guessing five impressions would be a bit too broad of a scope but sure.

Ah.

Love and pain, engage your senses, and let them carve the way... wait, wrong band/song.

The opening riff is very Initiate-like.

I’m thinking that Borrowed Time has the lame chorus impression.
I’m thinking that Borrowed Time has the lame chorus impression.

Got it in one! We'll see how I feel about it in the end.

That's the chorus? Did they spend 10 minutes writing it and said "yeah that'll do"? Rest of the song was very solid but that chorus, man.

This one?

Nah that's Chad's.

Mine is either the kind of lovely one or the Sacul one :corn

Sure!

One of these?

Yeah, the second one.

Congrats Elite!

I'm always thinking about random stuff during listens so yeah that's yours. :lol

Oh damn I do wonder which one is mine :corn

Obviously not the Sacul one :lol

Am I Sacul?

Apparently you are, at least in this round :)

Round 2 First Impressions

King - Almo: Love and pain, engage your senses, and let them carve the way... wait, wrong band/song.

Totally nailed the "to annoy" theme here! I really should've known better than to allow players to pick the themes.

This might be a little bit on the tame side especially with this song name. I'd expected this to be all growls and riffs, with this lineup too.

jingle.boy - A-Z: That's the chorus? Did they spend 10 minutes writing it and said "yeah that'll do"? Rest of the song was very solid but that chorus, man.

TAC - Fires in the Distance: THE CHEMICAL GAS! Where did the gas come from though, I bet it's not what he's singing at all. :lol Cracking tune.

LithoJazzoSphere - Counting Hours: Is this a singer from Serenity? Oh, there are growls. Maybe not then! I wonder what Serenity would sound like with growls.

Shadow Ninja 2.0 - Bohren and der Club of Gore: Hello Sacul! This is a little bit minimalistic for me so didn't leave a strong impression but I do enjoy this kind of thing as you very well know.

wolfking - Trivium: This is a bit rough to my tastes at moments but given what the song is about, it makes sense.

Stadler - Waylon Jennings: Reminds me of Dire Straits or maybe Mark Knopfler's solo work, and I do like both.

What you really needed is something to make a better song. :neverusethis: No, I dig the somewhat uneasy atmosphere but not exactly sure how this will pan out on the future spins.

Puppies - Paatos: Oh hey that's kinda lovely.

I thought that was an intro part of the track but apparently that's the track! :lol I need to pay more attention on the future listens, that sounded promising.

This should be a strong contender for "to plummet" theme. Quite relentless, maybe a bit too much.

Is it the "tame side" one?

Nope! I wouldn't say your song is on a tame side. And I don't have any idea about their lineup except for the stuff you told me in PM. That reminds me, I'm off to watch the live video you sent.

Lay that 5.5 on me again!!

We'll see, it's Ray Alder after all and I like Ray Alder's voice.

I'm the Chemical Gas one!

No doubt about that!

I'll reveal the rest this evening/tomorrow morning. We've got the first Round 3 theme coming on Wednesday, comparisons on Thursday and results on Friday.

It's sort of fascinating that I managed to grab it on the first stab.  I guess the hint at cleans into growls was the tip-off.  I've heard a couple Serenity albums, but don't know them well.  Listening to another, I'm not quite sure I hear the vocal comparison now (Georg sounds more like Five Below Tony Kakko to me, actually), but while Counting Hours is definitely not a power metal band, I suppose I can hear a bit more similarity than some of their other songs.

Luke and Lonk are correct, and at this point I've got to give it to RJ (man, you even announced you're going after this exact theme :) ). Here's the full thing:

Round 2 First Impressions

King - Almo: Love and pain, engage your senses, and let them carve the way... wait, wrong band/song.

lonestar - Band-Maid: Totally nailed the "to annoy" theme here! I really should've known better than to allow players to pick the themes.

twosuitsluke - Cemetery Skyline: This might be a little bit on the tame side especially with this song name.

Sacul - Chelsea Wolfe: What you really needed is something to make a better song. :neverusethis: No, I dig the somewhat uneasy atmosphere but not exactly sure how this will pan out on the future spins.

Puppies - Paatos: Oh hey that's kinda lovely.

Lonk - Jennifer Thomas: I thought that was an intro part of the track but apparently that's the track! :lol I need to pay more attention on the future listens, that sounded promising.

ariich - Wolfheart: This should be a strong contender for "to plummet" theme. Quite relentless, maybe a bit too much.
