Mine was right.  Big mystery!!  :) :) :)

Thank god I didn't shoot JFK or bury Jimmy Hoffa.   They would have solved it on November 24, 1963 and August 1, 1975, respectively.  At least you guys know I'm not DB Cooper!!!  :)
This sounds like something DB Cooper would say

But we all know that DB Cooper is actually Tommy Wiseau.

You might just be the ariich of that style.  :p

What does that even mean? :lol But yes, most guitar-driven instrumental prog bores me to tears. It's not a style I generally enjoy.

jingle and I both sent instrumental acoustic guitar music in ariich's last roulette in the same round and we had last and next to last place.   :lol   The way you're talking here and knowing you aren't into Who Bit the Moon (DMM's most Plini-esque album) confirms that you don't like the electric version of that.

The Rik Emmett stuff?  Yeah, that got unnecessarily crapped on.   :lol
Crapped on? It scored a 7.7/10!

IT WAS LAST PLACE OUT OF 23 SUBMISSIONS!!!  IT FINISHED BEHIND KING GIZZARD!!!!!!!!!

:rollin

Wait, someone sent the Gizz?

Yeah... YOU!  https://www.dreamtheaterforums.org/boards/index.php?topic=58332.msg2996807#msg2996807

:rollin

I thought we were talking about your current roulette dude! It's OK, Lizzo is gonna send King Gizzy on my behalf in your roulette :tup

I just looked at the scores in the round you posted thinking "Gizz did pretty well, they came third in that round (understandable with the score Rich awarded)", then realised it was reverse order

jingle.boy - 13.5

Main Entry: Beyond the Bridge - All a Man Can Do
10/10

Phenomenal song. Since you previously submitted Dead Man Walkin’, I’ll say this: They’re both great and powerful songs, but I give this one the slight edge because I think it holds up better on its own.

Wine Pairing: Defecto - Don’t Say Goodbye
3.5/5

Very simple, but emotional song. Really liked it. I found the vocals a bit grating at first, but they grew on me.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sacul - 13

Main Entry: La Máquina de Hacer Pájaros - Ah te vi entre las luces
9/10

That bassline(You know which one I’m talking about) might be my favorite thing ever.

Wine Pairing: Rayuela - La Casa del Hombre
4/5

Very cool very Jazzy

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Buddyhunter1 - 12.5

Main Entry: David Maxim Micic - Daydreamers
8.5/10

Wine Pairing: David Maxim Micic - Wrinkle Maze
4/5

Nothing else to add about Daydreamers that I didn’t say before. Wrinkle Maze is a wonderful, cinematic piece, and the addition of Per Nilsson is always a nice touch. This David dude is a talented guy.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

twosuitluke - 11.5

Main Entry: Enslaved - Daylight
8.5/10

“Ok wow” seems to have become something a coveted reaction here. Sorry to disappoint, but it’s not quite a 10 for me. I don’t love the first 3 minutes. Everything after that is amazing though.

Wine Pairing: Thy Catafalque - Néma Vermek
3/5

Black metal makes me wanna brush my teeth, this makes me wanna floss. Good song overall though. That riff at 2:37 is goodness.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TAC - 11.5

Main Entry: Nord - The Only Way to Reach the Surface
8/10

This song was a fun journey. Very good.

Wine Pairing: White Void - This Apocalypse is for You
3.5/5

Reminds me of Ghost, back when Ghost was still good.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

faizoff - 11.5

Main Entry: M83 - Outro
8/10

Beautiful

Wine Pairing: M83 - Go!
3.5/5

Simple, groovy, and catchy
I do kinda wish that Outro was the WP so that it could close out the playlist for the whole roulette.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HOF - 11.5

Main Entry: The Blue Nile - Saturday Night
7.5/10

I just really like the chill vibe of this one.

Wine Pairing: Nicholas Britell - Agape
4/5

Beautiful piece of music.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

lonestar - 11.5

Main Entry: Absolute Priority - Dead Man Walking
8/10

A powerful ending that I’m sure would be even more powerful in context of the full album. I’ll definitely give that listen one of these days.

Wine Pairing: Saki - Brightness
3.5/5

Very tasty solos.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

romdrums - 11

Main Entry: Arcane Roots - Half The World
7.5/10

This grew on me a bit. The repetitiveness doesn’t bother me as much, and I do like the buildup.

Wine Pairing: Voyager - Runaway
3.5/5

Reminds me of a heavier Duran Duran. I like it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

King Postwhore - 11

Main Entry: Asia - Open Your Eyes
8/10

Progressive Pop Rock at its finest. I especially love the last 2.5 minutes.

Wine Pairing: GTR - Imagining
3/5

Love Hackett and Howe, but somehow have never bothered to check this out. My only knowledge of it is the infamous one word review of this album, “SHT”.
This song was just fine. Sounded like a leftover song from Drama. Kinda expected more from a collaboration between those two guitarists.
I also didn’t notice until now that this is 6 minutes, when the time limit was 5 :p Oh well, I guess my cup overfloweth.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Puppies - 11

Main Entry: Oceansize - The Frame
8/10

Takes a while to get where it’s going, but it’s worth the wait.

Wine Pairing: Thrice - Dandelion Wine
3/5

+3 Secret Menu

You've found one of the Secret Menu Artists! Enjoy your three bonus points.
Vocals remind me of Chris Cornell at time. Cool song.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Stadler - 10.5

Main Entry: Champagne Supernova - Oasis
8/10

Wine Pairing: Oasis - Going Nowhere
2.5/5

Champagne Supernova is a fantastic piece of BritPop.
Going Nowhere is kind of a fitting title, because it didn’t really go anywhere interesting for me.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

wolfking - 10.5

Main Entry: Helloween - Keeper of the Seven Keys
7.5/10

+3 Secret Menu

You've found one of the Secret Menu Artists! Enjoy your three bonus points.
The vocals are the true standout here. Powerful voice.

Wine Pairing: Place Vendome - Thunder in the Distance
3/5

The intro of this reminded me of Jump - Van Halen. This one was just alright.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lizzo - 10.5

Main Entry: Fiora Cutler & Paul Hankinson - The Watcher
7.5/10

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WT7rkmMMLBk
(I am Creed in this clip)

Wine Pairing: Lisa Batiashvili - Dance of the Knights
3/5

Kudos for having the most unique submissions this round.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Evermind - 9

Main Entry: Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms
5.5/10

Nothing has changed from my first impression. I like the lead playing, and not much else.

Wine Pairing: Sting - Fragile
3.5/5

Very moody song. I liked it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ProfessorPeart - 7.5

Main Entry: District 97 - Ghost Girl
5/10

Wine Pairing: District 97 - Stay for the Ending
3/5

Sorry dude, neither one of these did anything for me. I thought the vocals for both were pretty good, but the instrumentation on Ghost Girl at times sounded sounded like they were just making it up as they went along. Stay for the ending was better.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ariich - 5

Main Entry: Pain of Salvation - The Perfect Element
3/10

Wine Pairing: Pain of Salvation - Ending Theme
2/5

Honestly, both of these songs came and went without grabbing me at all. Sorry man, just not my thing. Thanks for playing.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And so the winner of Metro's Gourmet Roulette, with a score of 59.5 is...

BUDDYHUNTER1

You can find the rest of the scores in the Scoreboard linked in the OP.

And at long last...

THE SECRET MENU

1. Ulver
2. Winger (I am so sorry, HOF)
3. Kamelot
4. IQ
5. Amorphis
6. Helloween
7. Joy Division
8. Thrice
9. Tori Amos
10. Wu-Tang Clan (Yes, really)

Thanks to everyone for playing along through the ups and downs of my first roulette. I enjoyed it, and I hope you did too.
Now that it's over...I think I'm gonna go listen to some Devin Townsend.

I would've put Beyond the Bridge above Absolute Priority as well, that whole album is amazing.

Thanks for having me...if you didn't figure it out, aside from the Band Maid track, Saki was the guitarist in every wine pairing I sent. (she has 4 official projects, and none of her side stuff would've fit the stripped down tone of the salad course, don't think I've actually seen her play an acoustic guitar lol)

Yeah, didn't have any expectations at all this round, so I guess maybe it even went slightly better than I might have anticipated.  We don't seem like a particularly good match taste-wise (I'm always suspicious of Gizz superfans :p), but at least a couple things hit pretty well, so not all was lost.  The format was fun anyway, glad to have been part of it.

Oof
beul ni teh efac = Lube In The Face / That has to be wrong.  :lol / EDIT: Oh, it's Blue! I'm an idiot.
Pardon the interruption, but I just had to run in and celebrate the majesty of Lube in the Face as highest moment in roulette history

Hell yeah, glad you loved those songs, check both La Máquina de Hacer Pájaros albums, they're such good prog albums, very varied and diverse. Also check out that Rayuela record, it's quite nice. If you're curious about more Argentinean prog, you reaaally need to try Serú Girán's La Grasa de las Capitales, I couldn't find a way to send it on the roulette but you'll dig it. And finally, Bubu - Anabelas, since you're a big Magma fan - I almost sent the first song on the epic round but the no instrumentals rule prevented it :P

Congrats ariich Buddy! Didn't realize I was in second place, maybe I should have really sent Ommadawn in the epic round :lol
