Tim, I thought you were fully versed in the big thrash bands but this roulette has shown me there are gaps in your thrash knowledge. I’ll see how Sepultura score, but I may well be exploiting this later.

First Listen Impressions!!

1. Nick: Saor Reminds me a lot of Dark The Suns..who I love!

2. Jamesman: System Of A Down There’s a lot that I like about this song, and this band BUT… though they have one of the most underrated vocalists going.

3. Reaper: Live The first half of this song was outstanding…then what happened?

4. Kingshmegland: Blue Oyster Cult This has such a nice classic old school vibe.

5. Lonestar: Sabaton I have no good reason to not be into this band, but I’ve always found their singer a tad off for me.

6. Litho: Quo Vadis This is some extremely sweet spot metal.

7. Stadler: Gordon lightfoot Wow, the lyrics are really captivating.

8. Tomislav: Ulver I didn’t realize Buddy was playing.

9. J-Boy: Pretty Maids Nice song. You just keep pounding that spot don’t you?.

10. Faizoff: Sepultura Not really into this band, but this song rocks.

11. Glasser: Cannibal Corpse Seriously? Lol..

12. Crow: Eric Church Kind of quirky, but quite enjoyable.

13. Romdrums: Living Colour The chorus kind of neuters this song, but there are some excellent passages here.

14. Wolfking: Havok This is a modern take on some old school thrash.

15. Puppies: Nile Well, that was a trip to Heavy Metal Oz.

15. Twosuitsluke: Nile Well, that was a trip to Heavy Metal Oz.

16. Lethean: Kamelot I’m on record as not being a fan of this band, but this is a pleasant enough song.

17. Soupy: Big Big Train What a fascinating story, and musically it’s quite dramatic.

18. Ariich: Turisas Did Walt Disney make a heavy metal song?

Tim, I thought you were fully versed in the big thrash bands but this roulette has shown me there are gaps in your thrash knowledge. I’ll see how Sepultura score, but I may well be exploiting this later.

So to me, it always comes down to the vocals. I've only really accepted harsh vocals in the last half dozen years or so. I am picky about them as much as I'm picky about cleans.
I've never been a thrash fan per say. Even back in the day, most bands didn't do much for me. I liked Metallica (from the jump), and Megadeth and Anthrax and Slayer. I didn't care for testament. Thought they were a second rate Metallica. they're much stronger now. I've never liked Sepultura. The vocals are awful, and while they rock big time, I've never found their music interesting enough to put up with the vocals. Same for Kreator I guess, though modern day Kreator vocals are more palatable for me than back in the day. Same goes for Death Angel.
I actually saw Kreator in 1989. ;D
I have always loved Flotsam & Jetsam since I heard their first album. Saw that tour too. I preferred Eric's clean vocals over what was going around at the time.

I had some old school Sepultura lined up for later but might be off the list now.

This is why I knew Havok would be a slight risk, but with some heavy Megadeth and Slayer influence I think there may be enough there for you to enjoy.......but we will see.

Yea that all makes sense I guess. I didn’t consider Paranorm a risk at all when sending them, but after reading that Tim, I get it. I’m glad to hear you’ve come around to Testament, but you are of course wrong about Sepultura :lol

No top 3 definites?

I'd think there would be 3 you know that are better than all the others. Just not the 3 positions.

So I have a couple that are standing out, but I'm not sure which one gets the 10 and which one gets a 9.

After that, I'm not sure.
I have the 5, the three 6's and three of the 7's slotted. I have the two tracks at the top, but then everything else is so close.
