The TAC Back To School Roulette V.7
Well, it's that time of year again!!!
Welcome to the Back To School Roulette. As with all of my roulettes, there are themed rounds.
The Syllabus for this Roulette will mirror a school day.
Period 1. Math-Songs must have a number in the title (ex. Keeper Of The
Seven Keys..)
Period 2. History/Social Studies- Song about something historic, a war, different cultures, politics
Period 3. Geography- Today's Lesson: Europe... Songs by bands from Europe
Period 4. Recess-Open Round
Period 5. Foreign Language -Songs sung in a foreign language
Period 6. Religion Songs about God, the Devil, good v evil, Mythology, church, etc...
Period 7. Current Events - Songs from 2023
Period 8. Final Exam A 25 minute EP recapping any of the subjects we covered. For example it can be Religious based, or Math based, or History based, Current Events (2023), etc..using the same criteria for the respective Lesson that you choose
Rules:1. Songs: For each round,
you will send TWO songs. One is your main entry for the round, and each round you can send a second song for "EXTRA CREDIT".
The main song will get get hangmanned/impressioned, etc... and get the requisite number of listens.
The Extra Credit playlist will get listened to twice, maybe a third time.
2. Scoring: Because we're in school, I will be
Grading on the Bell Curve. Similar to Jamesman's, Scores will be ranked. Top score gets a 10, and bottom score gets a 5. Everyone else will be bell curved in between. I will update this once I know how many students we have.
For the "Extra Credit" songs, those will also be bell curved. Top score gets 3 additional points, and the bottom score gets an additional 0.5 points.
Does that make sence?
3. Submitting: Please submit Spotify links via PM. I'm also fine if you just give me the band/track name. Be sure to designate one song as your main entry and one song for your Extra Credit.
4. Time Limits: Your main entry has a hard cap at 9:00 minutes. Your Extra Credit song has a hard cap at 6:00 minutes. If you have a can't miss song that is over 9:00 minutes, work it into your Final Exam (EP).
5. Final Exam Instructions: I do not need a story around the songs, however, I would like it to flow a little.
6. No Instrumentals: There's nothing worse trying to judge a bunch of songs when someone sends a lone instrumental to mess me up.
7. Resending bands: Any band that gets an 8 or above in the Main Assignment portion of each round is banned for the rest of the roulette. That will only take out 10 bands per round.
If you want to use a band for your Final Exam, you must reserve them if you notice them in a previous round's Hangman.
The rankings in the Extra Credit portion of each round has no bearing on any bands being banned for future rounds.

Scoring UpdateOk, so we have settled in with a class size of 19.
Therefore, the bell curve distribution of scores will be as follows:
NEW DISTRIBUTION!5.0: 1 student
6.0: 3 students
7.0: 5 students
7.5: 1 student
8.0: 5 students
9.0. 3 students
10.0: 1 student
The Extra Credit songs will also be scored accordingly.
Also:The Final Exam (EP) will count 1.5x
So if you get an 8 on your Final Exam... 8 x 1.5 = 12 points

Finally...I'd like to dedicate this roulette to my father, Peter Crowley, who passed away right before Christmas last year.
He was a high school teacher. This pic was taken from my Class of '86 yearbook, and the pic was taken just before he turned 40. Obviously I'm thankful for all I have, but musically speaking, what he did for me, was provide rides for my friends and I to go to concerts. And he would hang around downtown Providence while we went to the show. We always met him at the McDonald's across the street from the Civic Center. He knew I had a real passion for music, and he was always cool about me going to shows.
Also, I still remember when I was in the 7th grade, he came home with a cassette that one of his students brought in. Someone called Ozzy Osbourne. The kid told my father to check out the song Mr. Crowley. He didn't care for it... but I loved it!
Even after all these years, it's still not uncommon for some to ask me if I've ever heard the song, or even better, sing it to me.
It never gets old.
