Pleasantly surprised by the new Sum 41 album. Both the pop punk half and the heavier alt-rock/post-hardcore style half are really good. Wasn't particularly minded to bother with it, having not been interested in anything since Chuck, but saw some buzz so decided to check it out and I'm glad I did.

The new While She Sleeps, on the other hand, is fairly disappointing. I don't mind the poppy infusions they have and I've liked their last few just fine, but this one just feels very weak in the songwriting.

Ariich is a freak, or somehow has more hours in the day than everyone else.

I agree dude. I too have been completely uninterested in anything after Chuck, but the new one is solid. It's a little long at 20 songs, but the highs are up there with some of their best songs.

20 tracks but it's still only 55 minutes, quite a few are short and there's an interlude or two. I don't find it overly long at all really.

It's not that it's too long, there are just a few songs I'm not too into. Imo, if they were dropped it would bring the overall quality of the album up, that's what I meant.

I'm still happy overall with it, as I had zero expectations.

Forgive me since I am still getting used to checking out new music again, I don't see the sleepmakeswaves album on Spotify yet. Do they release albums at a certain time?

Yea, I'm not sure if it's been pushed back. Usually the albums will be available at midnight in your time zone, but occasionally albums don't appear until up to 6 hours later or something. It's very unusual for the album not to be on Spotify this late on a Friday, so I'm not sure if it has released today, officially.

yep Bend Sinister's record Mostly Great Things finally drops on Friday.

I've tried not to wear out so many of the singles, but it does feel a little less like a new album given 8 of the 12 songs were already released as singles.

Today I'll be checking out the new Mark Knopfler album. I grew up listening to Dire Straits (thanks, dad!) but oddly enough I've never looked into Mark's solo stuff.
Zydar is my new hero.  I just laughed so hard I nearly shat.

I’m slowly becoming a Dire Straits fan. Curious to know what Knopfler’s solo stuff is like by comparison.
