I also have Eternal Storm - A Giant Bound to Fall.

I had this on at work today. man, those vocals are fucking harsh, and just too much after a while. Still, the cleans were fine and this album is loaded with great music.

Gave it one listen yesterday. I was fairly impressed but it will need some digesting. Musically, it's definitely more "proggy" and expansive than their debut. Yeah, the vocals can be pretty harsh, but I've heard worse ;)

Yeah all three of my releases this week were good. Toehider was an instant hit. Eternal Storm was strong immediately but had taken a couple more listens to sink in. The Ihsahn I was unconvinced by initially - felt a little too "incidental film score played by a symphonic black metal band" - but it's growing on me a lot.

Just realized this will be released on Friday:

Counting Hours - The Wishing Tomb

Their debut from 2020 (The Will) is great, and highly recommended to fans of Rapture (a couple of members of that defunct band are here), earlier Katatonia, Dawn of Solace and similar melancholic-sounding bands. Pretty excited about it, let's hope it delivers.

Sleepytime Gorilla Museum - Of the Last Human Being

This one's good. I helped Kickstart it and we got digital copies early so I've been listening to it for about a week now. Very weird, as one would expect from them. :lol It's prooobably their second best, behind Of Natural History? I definitely like it better than In Glorious Times.

Ooh nice, yeah In Glorious was a slight step down so that's exciting to hear!

Wow, I just listened to the two singles and started on their previous album, and I'm impressed.  I can definitely hear the Katatonia.  They remind me of Daylight Dies more than anything so far, actually.  That'll be a must hear in a few days.

Yep, can hear Daylight Dies too, for sure. BTW, Litho, do you know Rapture? They only released three albums, from 1999 to 2005, but they are all very, very good. The first is the most influenced by early Katatonia (and might be my favorite), the other two have more clean vocals too. Recommended if you haven't heard them.

Yeah, I've heard them.  I don't know them as well as I'd like to though, so this inspired me to run back through all three of them.

Got my Friday releases!

Borknagar - Fall

What did you think of it?

A killer return to form for me, played it 6 time already (CD on full hifi set up, FLAC files in car and on headphones) sounds amazing.
Best Borknagar album since URD for me, specially Vortex vocals, the singing and growls are perfect.
Plus lots of variety, epic songs and some great melodies.
I was worried with the three songs released prior to the album, that it wouldn't be aggressive enough, but it ceratinly is  :metal
