They were one of those bands that someone said, "you like some odd stuff, try this", and I was also like, "WTF", but also, "there's an edge to that..." that kept me going back. That song was No Reptiles and over time they've unfolded to be my favourite current band. Amazing lyrics and unique vocal approach.

It wasn't a fast ascendancy to the top, I have to say. Phrases of verses jumped out then got me reading about the lyrics, that then got me thinking more, etc. It's all subjective, right?

Early Moods - A Sinner's Past (very curious about this one. The debut was a great combo of classic NWOBHM  and 70s doom)
Grey Skies Fallen - Molded by Broken Hands (apparently, a veteran NY band I'd never heard about. First few songs sounded very promising, the kind of gothic/doom/death I have a soft spot for)

Oooh, I really like (and own) Frontal. Didn’t know they had a new one coming out! Aaand in the queue it goes…

Not familiar with Early Moods. Will check out.

First impression is they amped up the 70s doom component in the mix. Haven’t finished it yet. I’m liking it so far, although it wouldn’t hurt for the riffs to be a tad more “inventive”.

EDIT: the second half of Unhinged Spirit! DAT bass! Good stuff…
