Picked up some new stuff today...

Dirt Poor Robins - Firebird
Étoile Filante - Mare Tranquillitatis
Big Big Train - The Likes of Us
Everything Everything - Mountainhead
aka Puppies_On_Acid
I peed next to Ian Mosley and Mark Kelly
Derek Sherinian probably stands 10 feet away from the urinal, shoots from downtown, and announces loudly that he's making history.

They were one of those bands that someone said, "you like some odd stuff, try this", and I was also like, "WTF", but also, "there's an edge to that..." that kept me going back. That song was No Reptiles and over time they've unfolded to be my favourite current band. Amazing lyrics and unique vocal approach.

Bless ya. 🙂

It wasn't a fast ascendancy to the top, I have to say. Phrases of verses jumped out then got me reading about the lyrics, that then got me thinking more, etc. It's all subjective, right?

I've spun this twice now. Very enjoyable. Out Of Darkness self titled debut. Drummer from Iced Earth and some others I really don't know but they rock on this!

Wow, that's an intense song. Thank you!

When I run my roulettes, some songs that are way out if my zone can score pretty well in a vacuum, and that'd be one of those songs.

Skeletal Remains - Fragments of the Ageless

Just gave this one a listen.  Really solid death metal.  A little more technical for them, but still catchy.

Right?!?  :lol

I have a couple more to add...in my queue...

Early Moods - A Sinner's Past (very curious about this one. The debut was a great combo of classic NWOBHM  and 70s doom)
Grey Skies Fallen - Molded by Broken Hands (apparently, a veteran NY band I'd never heard about. First few songs sounded very promising, the kind of gothic/doom/death I have a soft spot for)

I have the last Grey Skies Fallen in my Spotify Library. It's not bad, but it's way to mid tempo for me.

Not familiar with Early Moods. Will check out.

Oooh, I really like (and own) Frontal. Didn’t know they had a new one coming out! Aaand in the queue it goes…

Not familiar with Early Moods. Will check out.

First impression is they amped up the 70s doom component in the mix. Haven’t finished it yet. I’m liking it so far, although it wouldn’t hurt for the riffs to be a tad more “inventive”.

EDIT: the second half of Unhinged Spirit! DAT bass! Good stuff…
