Kind of a bit like Coheed and Cambria (or my impression of them) with a female singer.

that description sounds like the late Minnesota-based Prog band RisingSide.

I could be way off (not that familiar with C&C), but there’s sort of a punk meets metal style with really up front drums that I have in mind.

2 huge releases tomorrow, Haken and Enslaved. Also gonna check out new albums by Stoned Jesus and Entheos. The Stoned Jesus singles haven't really done anything for me, but I'll check out the album.

Entheos is great but it has some new styles and Chaney sings a little more. Saw them live before Covid and they crushed. Still a great album nonetheless.

Very much looking forward to Enslaved and Haken as well, of course. In fact, I haven't even listened to the last couple Haken singles, as I want to keep the new album experience as fresh as possible.

Another record I am very curious about is Majesties - Vast Reaches Unclaimed. It's a US band/project by members of Obsequiae and Inexorum (which, by the way, I don't know much about  ;)) that's been hyped up over the last few weeks as a true love letter to the Gothenburg sound of the 90s. Pretty stellar reviews all over...I've seen some Jester Race and early Dark Tranquillity mentions, plus other cool namedrops like Eucharist, Gardenian etc...I tend to be a little suspicious in cases like these but, hey, we will see.

I was pleasantly surprised by the recent Periphery singles, so looking forward to Periphery V.

Also, I've only just realised there is a new Manchester Orchestra album out this week, so I'll get on that. I may sample the new Rival Sons if I get the urge.

Been 22 years since Liberation! The song I heard sounds right where they left off.

Manchester Orchestra was good, but I wish there was more.  Which is, I guess, the point of an EP lol

Listening to Ice Age now.  So far, so good.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Indeed. :lol But yeah this is a really nice addition to their catalogue.

The Periphery is fantastic too. Might be my favourite since Juggernaut but will need more listens.

Yes! I was going to post about this on the ...Listening thread. Really good. Didn't know this band at all, and I'm seeing they have some discography to explore...

Ice Age album was tits.  Just as good as their initial 2 releases.  They sound fantastic.

I'm hoping the new album by Pressure Points is as good as their last. I might check out Kamelot and Redemption as well.

Anything else worth getting my ears around?

Not all of it would interest you I don't think, but I'm curious about Elysion, Emiliani Torrini, Foretoken, Invent Animate, Julian Lage, M83, Moon Boots, Narnia, Phantom Elite, Ralph Towner, and Sacrificium.

Forgot about the Narnia, those dudes are still hanging in there. The Phantom Elite to me is a total let down, Titanium set there bar real high and this doesn't touch it, but that's just my take.

How is it compared to Wasteland?

Charly Shred and ReinXeed were cool Malmsteen-esque albums but I thought Golden Erection was a goof. Did you like the Emir Hot album Sevdah Metal?
