Keen to hear the new Immortal album.  The couple of songs released are excellent.

Interested in what Metal Church dish up also with their new one.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

Picked up new albums today, another decent haul

Mesarthim - Arrival
Seven Impale - Summit
Kalmah - Kalmah
The Intersphere - Wanderer
Immortal - War Against All
aka Puppies_On_Acid
I peed next to Ian Mosley and Mark Kelly
Derek Sherinian probably stands 10 feet away from the urinal, shoots from downtown, and announces loudly that he's making history.

Yea, but they're last few have been pretty uninspired to be honest. Let the Dominoes Fall was the last album I really loved, and that came out 14 years ago!

Two big album releases today for me (Foo Fighters and Noel Gallagher). I'm stuck at work, but maybe I'll listen a bit here and there over the course of the day.
Zydar is my new hero.  I just laughed so hard I nearly shat.

I checked it out, and it's exactly what you would expect from them, which as a huge fan of them is exactly what I want.  As always, their songs can be a bit subtle at first, so I'm not expecting to completely adore it until half a dozen listens in, but I can't imagine it not being high up on my end of the year list.

Yeah, you're the third person I was referring to, in case Nick was confused.  :)  I really like the new album, though it doesn't bowl me away quite as much as the prior one did.  I imagine it'll grow even with each listen as the hooks dig in as well.  Did you get a chance to check out their prior work yet, or the rest of the previous album?  Definitely check out out II: Sojourn at least too, it's not quite in the league of III: Pentecost, but they were definitely on an upward ascent to me.

I have not, as I am now in 3 Dig Deep roulettes. However...well, nevermind, you'll have to wait..

Generally agree with this. Really enjoying the new album, not sure it'll reach the same heights as III: Pentecost, but great stuff.

By the way, Litho, you should check out "Voyage" by Tanith...one of my favorites in 2023 so far. It's more (proto-)metal than Wytch Hazel, for sure, and there's a bit more going on with the songwriting, but I think the bands share a certain "warmth" in their approach and sound. Tanith, too, has delicious guitars, plus great dual (female/male) vocals.

It's much more rare for early metal or retro-styled metal to hit for me (Wytch Hazel is one of those exceptions), but it sounds interesting, so I'll definitely have to check it out sometime.

Also got Extreme and Jason Isbell.

Well thanks to Crow I'm interested in all three of those now.

I think 100 years from now I still won't be over Christian no longer being in SS.  Part of me continues to wish they just started a new project with a different name, but I guess it's not fair to the other band members and fans who want to see the older material live still.

There's also Rise To Fall, Envy of None, Slipknot, False Memories, The Arcane Order, Godflesh.
