I've been listening to a lot of my CD collection ever since I bought a car around 8 months ago. I keep on changing the CD's i. a CD wallet every other week or so and I'm having lots of fun listening to records I haven't heard in ages. Here's a couple of things I listened to last week:
Beardfish - Sleeping in Traffic Part Two
Damn, this album is lots of fun. Especially the title track. I could remember lots of it, some things that get permanently stuck in my head are various parts of Cashflow and the title track. Great stuff!
Flying Colors - s/t
This album is way better than I remembered, some great songs on here. The vocal lines in Infinite Fire are amazing, guitar work is really good and the song-writing is very fitting for the overall mood and flow of the album.[/b]
The Dear Hunter - Act Two: The Meaning Of, And All Things Regarding Ms. Leading
Without a single doubt in my mind the best Dear Hunter album. Everything about this album is good; from the apparently rawness, to some of the best songs the band has done. This album features at least three 'goosebump tracks' and that's a remarkable feat. I love this record so much.
Flying Colors - Second Nature
After the debut album, I hoped this album would somehow strike with me as well, but it is unfortunately as I remembered it. A dull, boring record, that tries too hard to be more pretentious than the first, while the strength of the first was in not being overly complicated, with good song-writing. This album seems to be the counterpart to that. It does have some good songs (Peaceful Harbor comes to mind), but most are overwrought and stretched out too long. Bummer.
