blut aus nord: stylistically i want to really like this album but a lot of these songs feel more like ideas that don't really get developed on rather than full songs. noisy, dissonant, cold, but relatively simple in structure and generally pretty repetitive too. i also think the ambient interlude tracks are too bare to really evoke much of anything. i've kinda consistently had trouble really getting into their music it feels like and that's a bit of a shame
suspyre: ehh, about half of this is pretty good, the other half is... fine but kinda generic prog metal fare. reign is one of the better tracks, sure, siren and the closer as well both have a lot of cool moments. apparitions has some cool stuff too but a really weak chorus. i think there's a good 45-50 minute album somewhere in here but it needed quality control, and not to be 75 minutes long
zinnschaeur: this is basically just acoustic hirsch effekt. it's good. i don't know if being acoustic is a great stylistic choice for the type of music and it took me a while to be able to distinguish the tracks but there's a lot here to enjoy, even a few surprisingly intense moments and a pretty cool level of technical skill for an album that's 95% acoustic guitar and vocals.
