We're supposed to have news today, right?
Maybe.

Yea I'm still hoping we get another tracklist update tomorrow despite getting that Arhys mail yesterday.

Yea I'm still hoping we get another tracklist update tomorrow despite getting that Arhys mail yesterday.

If the pattern holds up, we SHOULD get another tracklist update today. They have updated on the previous two Mondays and Thursdays, so today is right in line for another update.

I imagine they'll update all of the tracks until those are done every Monday and Thursday, then give us a new character and/or map-piece with each Mon/Thurs update. If the album comes out at the end of January, we have 9 more weeks (after this week) of updates, or 18 more updates total, so there's plenty of time for them to put stuff out.

I'm waiting for a song title that might be a Metropolis reference but might not be, just to freak people out. Something like "Last Forever" or "No More Freedom."

1. 2285 entr´acte

Except "2285 Entr'acte" doesn't have the NOMAC symbol..  ;)

Did you read the whole post?  ::)

Yes, I did.. Especially this part: "Yes i know there´s no Nomac icon in the 2:nd act...but maybe they´ll show in the next update." And that's precisely why I said that: "Except "2285 Entr'acte" doesn't have the NOMAC symbol..".. The symbols have appeared each time they updated the tracklisting, so there's no reason why they'd add one now next to a song title (or parts of a larger song, whatever they are) they have already showed..

EDIT: Someone already said it early:

- The NOMAC icon is not there. It appeared immediately for all the other tracks that have it.

I'd like this to be Metropolis related but I'm pretty positive that it's not.

I guess 3. TFK's Stardust We Are is crammed full of music, and the vinyl version of that is 3 discs. ß

if this album is really really good then I might actually splash out on Vinyl. I don't own a turntable but I could get one. :)

I think the packaging and the expanded artwork would look great for a three disc vinyl.

And if the album sounds like DT12 would you really want it wasted on a Metropolis part 3 ?

Apart from the title - it doesn't mean that the writing will be as good as Scenes From A Memory. It doesn't mean that if they decided to do Metropolis 3 that

it's magically going to be as good as SFAM.

Plus it will always be compared to Metropolis and Scenes From A Memory and I can't imagine they'd want that.

dudz, what's the point on trapping the band in a past successful formula? Metropolis (song) is awesome? Hell it is! SFAM is awesome? A CLASSIC! But doesn't it restrain the band when it's about creativity? Look what happened to Geoff Tate, he survives only because of the Operation: Mindcrime stories, repeats the same concept over and over and so on... At some point, it gets banal, becomes uninteresting.

I know 90% or more comments about it here are jokes, but there's always those who desperately wants for a Metropolis sequel... GET OVER IT GUIEZZZ

To be honest - I don't want Map or Characters to Update before all the tracks have been revealed.

I also want actual album art after tracklist THEN everything else

They're almost done with the tracklisting, so if not that, there's probably a more significant update on the site after that. Still a lot on there to reveal.
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.

A release date would be nice as well.

Another thought I've just had...what about a movie-trailer-style promo video? This seems like the sort of album where that would be pretty awesome! "Coming soon to a CD player near you..."

The tracklist is not that important when it comes to the concept. It's also one of the items that will be most easily leaked - since when people do actually get to hear it they'll also be able to leak the tracklist - so they want the tracklist out there in a controller manner rather than through rumors and leaks.

When they're building a rock opera, there's a lot of story involved, and revealing too much of the story too soon will make us excited NOW, but it'll be like eating dessert first.

Let's ask Lars Ulrich !

" Um..I can tell you that um...it's y'know...coming...It'll be here before you know it...And Um...Like...we're working on it...We're progressing shall we say ? And Um... Um.... we're taking our time..

..it's all good. t's all good. "

I'm not either. The last two albums were decent. A far cry from the glory years of SFAM - Octavarium. But still pretty good.

The album is probably out late January and Act II Probably also has 11 tracks since both boxes are spaced the same.

I'm thinking either

1. 20 tracks on each disc

2. 20 tracks on Disc 1 and like 5 - 8 on Disc 2 ( much less anyway )

 :lol Chill out Kotowboy  ;)

Possibly controversial, but I don't think Metropolis is one of DT's best songs (though it is still really good) and I think SFAM is one of DT's weakest albums. So if they DID do a part III, it's definitely possible that it could end up being my favourite. :lol

Not controversial at all - I don't really understand why this song is that much of a fan favorite. It's a decent enough song, but not one comes anywhere near my top 20.

I think SFAM is one of DT's weakest albums.
Now that my friend is fighting words!!! Love SFaM - definitely one of their 3 best albums, IMO.

As a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

How about we do a "create your perfect DT Hybrid album" !!!

I'd like : The Production of Octavarium or Falling Into Infinity.

The length of Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence

The Songs of Scenes From A Memory.

The structures of A Dramatic Turn Of Events ( no super long epic ).

I don't want a Metropolis part III. I love SFAM MUSICALLY, but I really, really don't like the theme for reasons I'm not allowed to discuss :P
