Another week, another album down. The Second Brightest Star (while still good) is on a slightly lower tier than everything that came before it for me, if only due to maybe the 30 best minutes of music on the album being reworks of songs they had previously released. It starts off strong, if somberly, with the title track and some absolute fire guitar work in the second half of the song. I'm also quite fond of the London Stone -> The Passing Window -> The Leaden Stour sequence. That all said, Brooklands and London Plane are two absolute gems from their original albums, and so undoubtedly the high point of this one. Next up, Merchants of Light.
