Karnivool is one of my favorite album's of the last 4 years and thanks to DTF, I never would have heard of it.

I would probably agree, but I was actually listening to Symbolic the other day and just realised how amazing it really is. I'm rediscovering it at the moment, and it could have the potential to override SOP for me, we'll see.

Fun fact: Set Fire to the Hive is my most listened to song on my computer, 1 listen ahead of Metropolis

Don't know how it got that high, I guess I've just been listening to it fairly consistently over the past 2 years

14. Dream Theater – Images and Words (1992):

The ultimate Dream Theater album. Each member of the band was at the top of their game here in terms of both playing and song writing. This is probably my favorite album ever in terms of guitar playing, as I love absolutely everything John Petrucci does here, especially in the instrumental sections of Metropolis. I may seem like I hate on Dream Theater a lot because I don’t like them anymore, which is completely true, but I really do still like a few of their albums. I just feel like most of the post-SDOIT material is a bit cheesy and not up to par with their earlier work at all. One last thing, Learning to Live is probably still in my top 5 songs ever.

13. Dredg – El Cielo (2002):

This album, when I first listened to it, didn’t grab me at all. I first listened to it right after LOVING Pariah, but this one seemed way different and I didn’t really like it. Months later I listened to it again after hearing the rest of their material (CWA and Chuckles, since I still haven’t heard their debut… ) and I fucking fell in love with it. Every song is fantastic, and the various interludes place throughout the album seem to work even better than on Pariah. This album is a god damn masterpiece.

I think Awake is a little better than I&W. Both have really good song-writing, but I prefer the production on Awake.

El Cielo is the only dredg album I have and it's enjoyable

Personally I prefer Awake over I&W, so the latter is way too high for my own taste, but El Cielo is rather great, even though I would prolly rank it lower as well.

Also dredg are amazing, but I'm not hugely fussed about El Cielo. It's good, but their other albums are better.
