SLS is fucking amazing. One of the better prog albums I've heard over the last few years. The title track is 15 minutes of music win!

Act II is superb. The Dear Hunter really deserve to be a lot more popular than they actually are. Only insofar as I think their music could potentially be enjoyed by quite a wide spectrum of listeners.

With teh Riverside, I only have ADHD which is a good album. I'll definitely check out SLS if it's even better.

Riverside is meh. Haven't heard the other, but what I've heard of TDH is meh.

inb4 rage. Give TDH another chance IMO. Especially with their latest release "The Color Spectrum". It's quite different to their other stuff.

Anyways, I knew we'd see more TDH soon because you've been a total fanboy over them for the past few months. Wasn't expecting Riverside to beat them. I own SLS and ADHD and have heard the other two, and SLS is by far the best. I mean, its just pretty good IMO, certainly not better than Act II. But hey, good albums this update, can't fault you for them.

6. Oceansize – Frames (2007):

Another recent addition to the list. Every song on this album is over 6 minutes, and they’re all absolutely incredible. These guys truly know how to make an epic prog rock song, with a little post rock influence in certain places. Despite how good their other albums are, I believe that this one is CLEARLY the best, and I’m a bit skeptical when people think otherwise tbh. Zantera should like this pick

Best songs: Trail of Fire, The Frame, Unfamiliar, Savant

5. Opeth – Blackwater Park (2001):

My top metal album on this list (excluding number 3, which is more of a prog album…). Every song here is just brilliant, from the epic heavy riffs in the title track to the beautiful guitar work in Dirge For November. Mikael Akerfeldt did a fantastic job with everything on this album, particularly the vocals, which are probably my favorite in all of death metal. Amazing album.

I've listened to Frames one time through, waiting til my roulette is done to give it a proper listen though. It's great stuff!

My interest in Opeth has waned to the point that I just don't care for almost all of their stuff besides their soft stuff like Harvest and Damnation. Only heavy song I like is Deliverance.

The Funeral Portrait is easily the most overlooked track on it. The version on the RAH DVD is amazing.. That new guitar maestro Fredrik is almost bettering Lindgren's original leads.. damn.
