Haha nicely done, Nick. However, I did post mine first... :loser:

But, I was too lazy to put on the shirt, so you win there.

Nice CD cabinets on the left there! Where'd you get those? I've been looking at some from IKEA for a couple months now, but haven't come to any decisions. As it is, all my CD cases are stored in Sterlite and Rubbermaid containers, whilst my CDs are housed in 92-disc CD wallets by CaseLogic. Yeah... I spend too much on the CARE of my collection...(11 of those wallets, and about 25 containers).

BTW, nice poster in the background! And in the foreground! Rush :metal

The temptation to delete posts is strong with this one... :p

I got the shelves at wal-mart and Target I think. I think I payed $30is for the small one and $80 for the large one. The big one is a monster though, I think it's max capacity is over 800 cds.

I'm listening now. I don't have any of JLB's prior solo/side-project efforts, so this is my first of his work outside DT that wasn't a guest appearance or any such thing.

For those concerned about the screaming vocals - not on every song (and on some, not very prevalent). And not every song is a fast-in-your-face metal-fest... there's some variation here and there. It's good music, very contemporary and modern sounding. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a single or two out in Europe that charts well. I don't know about here in the US, but the recent success by DT might propel him to get a relatively well-charted single.

JLB sounds DAMN good on this, btw, and I hope it carries over into the new DT album. His diction is pretty good too. He also holds out some pretty long notes, even though they aren't high pitched, they're still pretty good! This is definitely JLB at the top of his vocal game, IMO, and I think part of it has been evidenced on the recent "tour".
As for the band, the drummer's pretty decent. I wonder if JLB is considering him for the new position in DT? Hmmm...
The guitars are pretty good too, some nice solos here and there. I haven't heard anything notable by the bassist, but it suits the music well, same with the keyboards. This is very guitar-driven and guitar-heavy, so if you like that sort of thing, this is for you.

Thanks for the mini-review Marc, sounds like a similar mix of tones as on Elements of Persuasion, just with the heavy even heavier this time. Will definitely be checking it out.

Mine came as well today along with the T-shirt..I refuse to play follow the leader and post a pic of me, the CD and the shirt...Listening to it as I type this..will give a follow-up once it has finished

Edit:  sounds like a similar mix of tones as on Elements of Persuasion, just with the heavy even heavier this time....this

Heavier than anything I can think of that James has put out in the past including his guest vocal spots ..No real one song stuck out for me and I found myself having to keep going back to my player to see what song was playing after awhile they started to sound pretty much the same with the exception of Coming Home which was much more mellow than the rest of the album

Been enjoying this since yesterday.  I think James sounds better than he has in a long time.  Really powerful, controlled.  Very good perfromances.  And the songs are really good too! :)

After hearing this, I'm really hoping James starts writing more for DT.  Really strong melodies all over the place.  And Marco rips in case you were wondering.

Marco's a great guitarist and always does a good job. I often don't care for his choice of tone, though. He goes for a lot of tones that sound very over-processed to me.

I don't have it yet but was listening to some James LaBrie solo last night to get ready for it. And I came to the conclusion that I really don't understand the love for Crucify. James does not sound good in that song at all. Can someone explain to me why this song is so popular?

I do think James sounds GREAT in Crucify (and in all of the album, for that matter).

I think I know the problem you're having with this one.  Does it end with a flute solo?
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

I had only heard the three released songs once before I got the album, so everything still sounds pretty fresh. The bass solo followed by the guitar solo in One More Time was really cool.
Orion....that's the one with a bunch of power chords and boringly harsh vocals, isn't it?

After listening to all the samples of this album on Amazon, I will probably get it. That said, my ears do not care for the [insert whatever we are calling them: screams/growls]. My humble opinion - they do not compliment the music. That's just me. But I will listen and appreciate the rest because it sounds pretty damn good. Very guitar driven and Jame's voice is on par.

Can't wait to just relax and chill with this album later tonight. Does anyone know why it's listed "Guillory/Labrie" all in the book except for one song, "Superstar," where LaBrie's name comes first?

I would assume it was alphabetical but if CJS' name comes first before MG's for one song, then I'm not sure why...

Often times credits will be displayed by the amount of input a writer has, so I'd expect Guillory was the primary writer on every song except for Superstar where LaBrie was the primary writer.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Maybe Superstar was mostly James' idea and just kinda fleshed out by MG.
