Feast your ears, ladies.

https://www.noisecreep.com/2010/07/27/james-labrie-one-more-time-song-premiere/

Been hunting around for this for the half an hour or so - think it's only been published in the last couple of minutes. Loading up the puter with the good speakers to have a listen.

I am Dissapoint.

Is the whole album gonna have the screaming vocals and cheesy keys?

Nice chorus, but the verses needs some getting used to.

Song has a great chorus. JLB's still got a great sense of melody.

Just finished it... I probably wouldn't give it a second chance if it weren't James LaBrie. Actually, I probably wouldn't have got past the first verse if it weren't James LaBrie - not my style at all.

But, it is James LaBrie, and I know I like a lot of what he's about, so I'll keep at it. I definitely like the choruses, and I know a lot of people who would definitely be into something like this. To me, it sounds like a good example of what it is, if that makes any sense. And there's enough good in it for me to still want to buy the album.

Dubious but still hopeful, I suppose is what I'm feeling. I really like that this is something so thoroughly different, though. I've always respected experimentation and this is a really exciting new approach. Amazing to be hearing something so outlandish from someone so familiar.

In an earlier article about the solo album, it credited the drummer with the screams on the album, so I'm assuming it's him and not James.

In an earlier article about the solo album, it credited the drummer with the screams on the album, so I'm assuming it's him and not James.

Right after I posted that,I saw this on the site

"Musically speaking, 'One More Time' is sort of a marriage of old-school progressive elements and modern melodic death metal," guitarist/keyboardist Matt Guillory told Noisecreep. "We wanted to have a drastic contrast between what's going on in the verses and what's going on in the choruses. There's almost a pop feel near the end where both James' vocals and my vocals start layering in different ways. Lyrically, the song is about dealing with the loss of a loved one."

So, yeah, thats definitely not JLB. I didn't see any mention of another singer in the article at first so I was trying to figure out how JLB was doing that.  :lol

Its ok, not a fan of this type of music... wish it was more like the chorus throughout with James doing lead vocals the whole time (this is his solo album, after all).

This is a bit of a strange departure from EoP, with the screams. I liked it, though.

Er, this sounds like that one metal band, what were they?  Trivium?  I don't like them.  I really hope there's not so much growl vocals as here...

And since it was asked, I guess the guitarist is the screamer.

I was judging by how the guitarist/keyboardist said "my vocals" and since all the singing parts sound like James, I think it would be logical to assume the guitarist is doing the screams.

I have no problem whatsoever with this kind of music. In fact, I like it. However, I find it odd that it's being marketted as James LaBrie. Since obviously his fanbase isn't going to be thrilled with it, and he's not even the main singer.

Not nuts about the verses, but James sounds great. Musically, I like it 10 times better than anything off of EOP.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

I liked it just fine, it just wasn't very memorable or catchy. I listened to it and it ended and I had already forgotten it was playing. I doubt, however, that James will be just doing a small part of the vocals, I'm guessing this might be one of the few songs to feature a lot of screaming. Hopefully most of them will be lead by JLB.

Seriously? That sounded like generic prog to the max for me. EOP was fantastic, this (track) has no feeling for me at all.

I'll take generic prog over Eop. Eop does nothing for me. It's half nu metal/half whatever else. I cannot connect to it at all. And I love James!

I agree about EoP. It was so generic compared to the first two JLB albums. This, at least, is a step in a new direction.

I don't see how this is "generic prog."  Needs more organs and a mediocre singer to be considered that.  I like the chorus, but those verses aren't too good.  Now if only there were more chances to show off JLB on new DT albums.

The first song released is usually one of the weaker tracks. I think the album should be fine. I don't mind the guys screaming voice at all, but the music behind it left a lot to be desired.

Thanks for posting Rob.  The subsequent listens were better than the first, although I wish they would have done something different with the screaming.

It would take 3 or 4 god awful tracks to prevent me from buying this though...I can't not own an album Matt Guillory is on...I mean JLB.  I actually do have every album Matt Guillory is on though - pure coincidence but I really like what he brings to the table, and I hope he finds a permanent band for himself.

JLB is taking a hint from DT, open with your weaker tracks, (Forsaken, Rite of Passage) and then everyone is pleased when the album comes out.

SENT CRAZY SHIVERS UP AND DOWN MY SPINE

IT WAS BUT YESTERDAY
IF ONLY I COULD MAKE YOU STAY
I WISH THAT I COULD SEE YOU ONE MORE TIME

Love James, LOVE the music (sounds like heavy Images and Words!) but HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE THE SCREAMING!!!!!  It's why I can't stand listening to Between the Buried and Me.  I pray to GOD that there isn't a whole bunch of screaming completely tarnishing and ruining the music.
I don’t know what to put here anymore
