So it's a bad song because it's on a particular film soundtrack? It's not a rock song and it's not a typical Muse song, but neither of those facts automatically make it bad at all. I love it, and think it's really good fun. Way better than Starlight.
Of course not. Did you read my post before that one?
Yes but you didn't give any reason for disliking the song.
I guess "nausea-inducing" wasn't good enough.
Fine: I'll listen to the song now. Here's a realtime play-by-play.
The song's just started. The riff is interesting, kinda different.
Vocals come in. Too flamboyant for my tastes. Sounds like something that belongs... nevermind. I like my music to have at least a little spine, which this sofar is lacking.
Chorus time- the chorus is admittedly decent, but I'm still not really hooked.
Second verse. That interesting riff that's become kind of annoying by this point stops momentarily, which is cool. But it only highlights the lyrics, which I really dislike. I'm not really into songs with lyrics like "Oh baby I was a fool for you."
Chorus comes back in- same thing as last time over again over the same beat.
Post-chorus. Same riff that's been repeated over the same beat that been repeated over and over again since the beginning.
Solo time. Sounds interesting, but there's nothing really going on their aside from, well, interesting sounds. I don't expect solos from Muse, though, so this is forgivable.
Chorus again. Benefits from the lack of flamboyant vocals present in the first too.
Outro with same riff and beat that's been repeated since the beginning and a distorted voice in the back. Not really impressed with this song. It was boring, repetitive, and frankly it couldn't have ended soon enough.
Ultimately, this song has nothing of the coolness I'd expect from Muse or any song entitled Supermassive Blackhole. Unless the Supermassive Blackhole is an anthem for the female anatomy (or male, even, now that I think about it), which the singer sounds like he's all too desperate for. Really, not my thing. I feel that it's repetitive and neither the lyrical nor musical content do much for me.
