Like the PT cd, I am gonna wait until I have the physical cd to listen to it, but for those who have, how does it "sound"?  More specifically, is it compressed to the nth degree like their last few albums have been?  I love their music, but gah, I wish they would stop compressing everything to death and give their music the dynamics it deserves.

I used to worship muse. Still think the stuff I loved back then is great, but don't listen to them as much anymore. The new album, however, is a huge massive letdown for me.

This, but I felt the same for BH&R, oh and Absolution as well.
I got into Muse when they released Showbiz, and then OoS was like an eargasm. I've just felt everything post OoS has been a let down :(

I specifically remember listening to it the first time through and at one point thinking to myself how flat the drums sounded. Of course, it might be better on with true CD quality, but I'm not holding my breath.

It sounds way too compressed. Heavy parts don't have power because the guitars are somewhere buried UNDER the bass. I know, how is that even possible.

It's not only the mastering, you can hear that the initial mix sounds like crap. Also, Muse are trying way too hard on this album, their 'epicness' doesn't come across, and the undeep, flat production doesn't help either.

The first Muse album I'd call boring. Except for Exogenesis.

Not 'Down To F***', but 'Dream Theater Forums' .

Such an amazing album! I really love the Queen influence and the symphonic side of Muse. Might be my favorite Muse album. It different, but they experimented the right way and the album came out great!

After 4 listens, it's still really weak.  There are some solid songs, but it feels like they've done it all before.  Symphony was very disappointing as well.

There was a key work spoken, which led to a deletion, and deletion of subsequent posts, lets not say that word again.

This could be a grower. There are some decent songs, but nothing that immediately grabs me like Absolution and Black Holes did.

My first listen through is complete. My favorite songs were Unnatural Selection and MK Ultra. This was definitely a surprise, I did not expect most of the material in this album. I'm not disappointed, though. I can definitely tell it's a grower.  :D

Sorry, I guess I don't understand why people can talk about albums blatantly acquired in a not-so-legal way, especially if you can't even speak of the specific word associated with that method.

I myself am waiting until the album is in my hands to listen to it.

If I had my druthers, discussion of illegally obtained material would be banned outright, but as is you may (when DT or related projects are not involved) discuss material, but you may not even begin to hint at how you obtained it.

I'm really enjoying this album so far. There are things I don't like about it but overall it's a quality release and a good mix of fun, poppy songs with more epic songs.

I really like that Muse is a band that develops with each release, rightly or wrongly. They are always exploring their sound. Though, I do miss the big guitar riffs there is a lot to like about this album.

At this stage I would rate it higher than black holes.
"Once he had forests and mountains that were only his - listening to him. Once he would run through the summer days catching memories for ages to come. Now he is dressing this naked floor with his flesh and blood, and time passes by. His trade of pain might just have lead him to deal with consequence for some change as time passes by"

I really like it. 1984 being one of my favourite books I like the lyrics. The music is also great to my ears.

I would probably rates this above Black Hole, but not above OoS. BH&R is great, but there are too many tracks that don't do much for me.

TR is very solid and I can't wait to hear Unnatural Selection live  :metal . The symphony maybe could have been better, but it was still an amazing experience listening to it at 1 AM with the lights off.
on par with the anguish one would have from getting unconsensually bent over and buttloved.

No. I can't stand queen, it's VERY disappointing to see one of my favourite bands try so hard to emulate a band I absolutely can't stand. Really disappointing. i feel muse have gone off the boil tbh.
