True. Maybe I should switch "Outcry" with "Breaking All Illusions". I wouldn't want to remove "Learning to Live" because I'm tired of "Under a Glass Moon" and "Metropolis". Are there any other closers they've been playing?

Why switch anything? Just move BAI up a few spots and leave Fatal Tragedy for last, followed by the encore.

Some may argue it's the same song played twice as encore   :neverusethis:

If DT decided to play LTL, and then they said, "How about we play that for you guys again?" and actually played LTL again, I wouldn't complain.

I WOULD /obligatoryblobanswer

Although I guess it would be nice to have official documentation of the F#5 to wash away the shame of LSFNY. :p

I don't see the shame in saving some breath and oomph for that amazing performance of ACOS though :)

Not to mention the sheer fact that he'd already performed SFAM in its entirety and several other songs including Metropolis. He must've been beyond exhausted.

After 3+ hour show, I'm surprised the guy could even still stand, so I can't blame him one bit for being exhausted. :lol
But unfortunately he does sound very tired to me by LTL and ACOS. Same deal with PMU and ITNOG on Budokan too. I think his more recent vocal coach plus his general fitness/health have helped him lately, as I think he held up very well for Score.

JLB is one of the two guys in past-and-present-DT whom I count in my own personal heroes - he did such an incredible job in picking up the slack, getting over adversities and being the best he could possibly be under each circumstance, as well as being true to himself. Top those achievements with a really great personality, and there you have it, a hero. Not the best nor the most consistent singer in the world, but so distinctive and charismatic, you could recognize him anywhere.

I pretty much dislike his vocs on Budokan btw from what I've heard (save of some songs), I haven't watched all of it because *gasp* some 20% of the setlist doesn't really interest me, so I wasn't really motivated to get the DVD over their other DVDs.

For the most part I'd say he's not bad on Budokan, but he does have some real low points. But he also has some great high points, such as Hollow Years, Trial of Tears, and New Millennium, where imo he exceeds his performance on LSFNY. And it also has the highest production value of any of their DVDs in both audio and video.
It's definitely worth getting at some point, even if it's after getting the rest that you're more interested in. :tup

I am so excited for the South American DVD! Based off their setlists the last few legs, here would be my optimal set:

1. Bridges in the Sky
2. These Walls
3. The Dark Eternal Night
4. This Is the Life
5. Drum Solo
6. Ytse Jam
7. Lost Not Forgotten
---
7. The Silent Man (acoustic)
8. Beneath the Surface (acoustic)
---
9. Outcry
10. On the Backs of Angels
11. Forsaken
12. Through My Words
13. Fatal Tragedy
14. Breaking All Illusions
---
15. Learning to Live

Good set, but The Count Of Tuscany, The Great Debate and 6:00 need some DVD love.

This, though 6:00 doesn't have to be there - never really cared for that one, tbh.

The Great Debate was on the bonus disc of Score, that's already more attention than it deserves.

Oh yeah, I'll definitely get it, but getting some bootlegs and similar is way more interesting at this point of my fan career :)

Jamariquay

I'd throw in "The Count Of Tuscany" as the encore, myself.

True, but I'd like to see it actually part of the featured concert.

If you add it, maybe. But there isn't a single song on the proposed setlist above that I would trade for TGD.

Yeah, you're right. But hey, we don't know what their DVD setlist is gonna be, and frankly, I don't even wanna know. Better to save the mystery than surrender to the secret.

:lol I used the exact same line only a few days ago. As for me, I'm gonna spoil the hell out of that setlist as soon as I can! :metal

TheGreatPretender

Well, I probably won't be able to resist myself.  The worst part is that I want to know the setlist not to psyche myself out for all the awesome stuff they're gonna play, but to make my piece with the disappointments ahead of time, whether they consist of them not playing something I wanted to hear, or playing something I don't much care for.

Nekov

If it's not leaked before the show I'll make sure to tell you what they played Blob  ;)

Here's my edited version of your list. This would be my ideal DVD setlist

INTRO
1. Bridges in the Sky
2. These Walls
3. The Great Debate
4. Endless Sacrifice
5. Drum Solo
6. Ytse Jam
7. Wither
---
8. The Silent Man (acoustic)
9. Beneath the Surface (acoustic)
---
9. Outcry
10. Raw Dog (yes, I really want to see a live performance of this song. The band could make a satisfying conclusive ending to the song instead of just cutting of at the end)
11. On the Backs of Angels
12. Through My Words
13. Fatal Tragedy
14. Breaking All Illusions *OR* Learning to Live
---
ENCORE
15. The Count of Tuscany

Jamariquay

I saw that edit. :lol

The weird thing is, I can kinda see what you meant there, with the segue. I doubt they'd do that now though, JP says he's not a huge fan of medleys and so forth.

TheOutlawXanadu

I love where your head's at. Here's my list, 2.0:

1. Bridges in the Sky
2. These Walls
3. The Great Debate
4. This Is the Life
5. Drum Solo
6. Ytse Jam
7. Lost Not Forgotten
---
7. The Silent Man (acoustic)
8. Beneath the Surface (acoustic)
---
9. Outcry
10. On the Backs of Angels
11. Forsaken
12. Through My Words
13. Fatal Tragedy
14. Breaking All Illusions
---
15. The Count of Tuscany

well i originally thought i would be a cool idea... but the more I thought about it the more I thought "Hmmm, do we really need to see another DVD performance of ITPOE? even if its just one small segment of it?"
I decided that Outcry was fine the way it is, it didnt need to segue into Slaughter of the Damned, even if that would have sounded awesome.  :metal

Has DT's stage production ever been this good? Based on seeing any of the previous live DVDs my thoughts are no. The music alone is enough to pump me up.

Jay.Ess

I was just listening to The Count of Tuscany. That ending is so fantastic..It would be an amazing DVD closer, especially with the crowd heartily singing along at the end.

I doubt it would be a closer, but hopefully it gets included, because having the crowd singing along to that would be an awesome moment. Seeing that outro live in person gave me chills like no other live moment, so if they could capture that in some small way, I'd smile in my pants.

hefdaddy42

I would love to see that included.
