Has DT's stage production ever been this good? Based on seeing any of the previous live DVDs my thoughts are no. The music alone is enough to pump me up.

No, it hasn't. The focus was previously always on the music, foremost. This tour's production was outstanding, and off course, I missed the tour....

Interesting (ish!) Luna Park note... for all the hubbub about new venues and moving away from New York, we've actually already had a DVD filmed there. Just popped on Chaos in Motion, and just two songs in - you'll never guess where Panic Attack was filmed.

So if anyone's wondering how the venue might look, there you go! Obviously, we can expect the direction to be a lot slicker, the footage cleaner, and a crowd mic or two wouldn't go amiss, but just as a neat point of reference. I'd guess it'll be pored over when the new one's out - proper compare and contrast stuff.

BlobVanDam

CiM doesn't count for anything though.

I'm pretty sure nobody can challenge that statement in good conscience.

Siberian Khatru

Dude, come on. Those Easter Eggs are great.

BlobVanDam

The easter eggs were probably the best bit though! :lol Especially the dollar one.

OsMosis2259

Yeah CiM was so disappointing. I enjoy watching everything else more than the actual concert footage.

How's that editing coming along, chudm? :)

I just hope it'll be available in DVD version (I know it will probably be released on DVD as well as Blu-Ray)

Zydar

I just rewatched Rush In Rio on DVD. If the audience in Argentina is half as crazy as on that DVD then we're in for a heck of a ride.

Two different bands though.

Well, it won't be what it could be. The thing I don't like about the venue they'll be playing on is that they put chairs in the lower part so people will just be standing still in front of the chairs but not jumping and shouting and stuff which means a less energetic crowd.

Does that mean that they won't sing along with the music?  ;D

Nah, we'll still do that, but it'll be less awesome.

this video is why i love Argentinean fans. the guitar solo at the end, that is.

That whole concert was insane. I know a guy who had a ticket but didn't go and it never occurred to him to let me know ¬¬

And just the thought of a double whammy (BAI + LtL) would make me smile in my pantaloons.

Some may argue it's the same song played twice as encore   :neverusethis:

They would be wrong.

Honestly, that was the biggest let down of that whole concert for me. I honestly haven't watched too many South American concerts on DVD, but this was one of the first ones I did see. She-Wolf is one of my favorite Megadeth songs and they totally ruined it for me.

SystematicThought

I think it adds excitement to the recording.

Singing along to every note of a guitar solo is fucking sweet. Thousands of people? Those fans are nuts. I love it.

Same here.  I was going to post this earlier in another thread, but this reminded me of it as well.  Whatever anyone thinks of Bon Jovi, there was an interview a long time ago with Richie Sambora where he talked about, among other things, his philosphy in creating guitar solos.  I can't remember the whole thing, but one thing he mentioned is that a lot of great, memorable guitar solos are ones that people can hum along to and that have such great hooks and melody that people actually do hum them.  That solo at the end of She Wolf is one of those solos, and...well, that video pretty much proves it.  :lol  It just has hooks and melody that get stuck in your head.

Nekov

That Megadeth concert and the latest AC/DC concert are probably the best examples of crowds down here. If you haven't seen the AC/DC one you should. I was there

Not sure if it has been discussed here yet/recently, but would any be opposed to having a CD set that was almost completely different from the DVD?

POSSIBLE SPOILERS!!!

I'd like to see a FULL 3-CD set (nearly all 225-240 minutes) that includes some of the best recorded performances of (almost, if not) ALL of the songs they have/will play on the ADTOE Tour, including ADTOE in it's entirety (maybe or maybe not tracked that way on a CD, though that would be interesting to hear), as well as tunes from last summer's European leg. Many of the songs they have played over the last year haven't seen a live CD release, or for some, a re-release since OIALT (which has slowly been replaced by newer/better versions of songs released on that set).
I think the DVD should be a single show, perhaps a two-night stand in one location, to have more songs, but the CD should reflect more of the tour in it's entirety. This way, we could get renditions of TCOT, LTL and BAI all in one CD set. Wouldn't that be amazing?! I think offering two different setlists would be the best way to please a lot of fans, and for those who would want the audio from the DVD concert can just rip it (as many have suggested in the Live CDs VS Live DVDs thread), so offering a CD set that wasn't simply the DVD Audio (albeit slightly remixed for CD) would be a smarter move, especially with the great amount of material they have covered in the last year or so of this tour.

We already know where/when the new concert film will be filmed. August 19th and 20th at Luna Park Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Very good call! That's Another Day in that sheet! (Although Another Hand would be a total jackpot!!  :omg: )

A band plays it's classic album in it's entirety on a tour that's during a major anniversary year for that album? Hmmm... Rush's Time Machine Tour, anyone?? :rollin

It would be pretty awesome, though! And I hope that JLB can knock out "Another Day" and the FULL version of "Take The Time".

BlobVanDam

I see no reason they'd play IaW for the DVD. They played the entire album for its anniversary 5 years ago, and I think they'd still have several songs to learn before they even know the full album (I'm sure someone can tell me), and they've got too much else to play.
Why would they commemorate their first live DVD moving forward with a new line-up by completely rehashing the past? Man, you can bet MP would be all over that one.

It looks like they're adding one extra song from the album. No reason to jump any further than that.

I love MM's hipster glasses.

jonny108

I can see them bringing out I&W 20th anniversary as a YtseJam records bootleg but not for the official live DVD.

OMG

TheOutlawXanadu

If they played a weird setlist with I&W in its entirety one night and a normal setlist the other night, we could get a monster three hour Blu-Ray.

Sure it says Another Day and not Another Won?
