Mora, I know it's not a JLB quote, but after this thread I can't help but say the text under your avatar in his voice.

"Sorry about the short set." /canadian accent

And also, "I was getting hungry."

Andreas

Btw, maybe since Mike Leonard is making this DVD he'll include some stuff that was not included in TSCO documentary, such as recording of ADTOE or the complete audition with MM, that would be awesome!

I love how his accent comes through in that line.

Enlighten me: do all Canadians have accents similar to his? I know it's a huge country, so I feel compelled to move to whatever part of it where people talk like that. Fucking love that accent. Wish I could "do" it.

And I modified his quote for my needs. When I first watched the DVDs with commentary, I watched the regular versions, then the versions with commentary without pause and I was told I needed to get a fuckin' life at 4AM. Pretty sure I told this story before, but I think we've all been there :)

In smaller towns, they do. You won't find that accent in Toronto, or any of the bigger areas of southern Ontario, but James is from Penetanguishene which, I mean, I've never even heard of the town, it's got like 9000 people living in it, so it's pretty tiny.

It's settled, I'm going to Canada.

In Canada, 99.9999% speak in "normal", North American English, but it's the 0.0001% that's funny so that's the stereotype.  I used to have a problem with it cuz nobody really says "aboot" or "eh", well, "eh" maybe but I've never actually heard "aboot" in-person in my entire life in Vancouver, but it's just funny now.

It's really only the East Coast (Newfoundland) that talks like that, like in the US how there's different styles in New York, the south, Texas, etc.   I think Europe is probably the place with the most different styles in the smallest area.  You have Irish, Scottish, British, English, and who knows how many others, but they're all cool.

Stragglers aside, in Canada it's pretty much Newfoundland on its own vs the rest of us.

We do, however, love our hockey and our Monopoly money.  I LOVE watching How I Met Your Mother not only for the fact that the comedy is legend.....ary, but how there's so much Canadian stuff in it cuz of Robyn who's also from Vancouver in the show and in real life.

:metal

EDIT:  Haha, I just noticed this is my 420th post, even though I've never tried pot in my life and it's the one thing I wish Canada WASN'T stereotypically world-famous for, I can laugh at this coincidence considering what my post is about.  Gonna go buy a lottery ticket now.

The DVD/Blu-Ray should have the clip of Mike Mangini getting the phone call that told him he was in. If it's even a tenth as awesome as the end of the audition documentary, it would make the DVD so much cooler.

I don't get it. We already have it.

Hopefully we'll get a Ytsejam DVD of his full audition.
Quote from: wkiml on June 08, 2012, 09:06:35 AMwould have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Quote from: Stadler on February 08, 2025, 12:49:43 PMI wouldn't argue this.

As an American that loves Canada and visits there about every year I need to clear something up....

Americans over exaggerate the accent, true BUT there is still a noticeable accent.

They don't say "aboot", it actually sounds more like "abowoot".  You can also hear that in northern Wisconsin by the way.

They don't pull out the "eh's" unless they drink or are from the boonies.

The Newfoundland accent is really fucked up.  Kind of like a mix between British, Canadian, and Drunk.

I love Canada.
