Sure it says Another Day and not Another Won?

I just took the image into Photoshop and adjusted the contrast/brightness to make it more visible, and it's definitely "DA" (the Y isn't readable because of the brightness).

Yes, I could have just posted the image for you all to see too, but I'm a lazy fuck.

If they played a weird setlist with I&W in its entirety one night and a normal setlist the other night, we could get a monster three hour Blu-Ray.

If this happens I'll die a very happy man.

Zydar

It could be a new song they're presenting to us, Another Damn Woman.

Maybe it's Another Dawg, a medley of Another Day and Raw Dog.

I think I'm right.

You are a drummer, I seem to recall. Is what actually is on the sheet AW?

As cool as that would be, I can definitely see the "D" in "Day" after "Another"... so it's "Another Day", which hasn't been played in awhile (at least 3 or 4 years, right?).

By including this song in the set list, the only other song they haven't played live with MM yet would be "Take The Time", and it was played live not too long ago, so MM would only have just one more song beyond "Another Day" to learn to be able to play the whole IAW album live.

I dunno. I don't know how to play any of those songs on guitar/keys and the sheet he's holding are chord progressions.

no, those are block forms of time signatures for the song. it's def AD, and the only song MM has yet to play from I&W is TtT...well, that and WfS.

i'm banking on this.

Just re-checked the pic, you're right. I blame the bad lighting, I mistook the 8 for a B.

I'm still sticking to my original theory that the 2nd night in Huntington will be a full I&W run through (which will be recorded for a bonus feature on the upcoming DVD).

Either that or they use the two-night Huntington, NY series to give a run through of what could possibly be played in the two-night Luna Park series in Argentina for the DVD shoot.

Do you guys really think that can happen? Or is it just wishful thinking?

Scorpion

Damn, all this talk has me severely hyped for this DVD. :caffeine:

I really hope that some songs from BC&SL are included - I'd really love to have live versions of Wither or TCOT.

Its certainly possible. Its not like its baseless speculation or anything, since DT has been playing very I&W-heavy, when you ignore the ADTOE songs.

If we're talking Images and Words - I'd say the chance is approaching zero.

If you want to see Images and Words played live, buy Images and Words Live in Tokyo, filmed on the Images and Words tour, with most of Images and Words on it. Or scour eBay for Images and Words 15th Anniversary Performance, which happened five years ago.

I'm aware that I'm being a little short here, and apologies for the slightly snappier tone, but they've played the songs so many times now. They've released the songs so many times now. They've played the album so many times - and already released and recorded a full performance of it within the last five years. And yes, it was released as a Fan Club CD. That's not a full release - keen eye for detail. But they could've released it in full, and chose not to. They thought it was more important to release the DVD that ended up being Chaos in Motion. If their anniversary performance played second fiddle to Chaos in Motion, of all their DVDs, nothing's changed that makes them more likely to drain an hour of the first live recording of their brand new era by celebrating how brilliant Dream Theater used to be 20 years ago when Mike Portnoy was still in the band.

I'd love to say "I'm sorry, I get the appeal but I don't think it's happening," but I don't even get the appeal. It's a fun thing to see live. It's an exciting thing to do with an album that's just come out. But we've got Images and Words Live in Tokyo, we've got Live at the Marquee, we've got Images and Words 15th Anniversary Performance, we've got Surrounded 2007, we've got Take the Time, we've got Take the Time Abridged, we've got Take the Time with the Freebird outro, we've got Puppies on Acid / Take the Time. We've got three different Learning to Lives with three different jams in the middle.

It's a great album. I've got no qualms with it - in fact, better than that, it's in my top three, top one on a good day - and that they've written an album that we're still clearly in love with 20 years down the line is brilliant. They should be proud. Well done them. They're good live songs, and I'd be surprised if nothing off the album made it to the setlist. And rightly so, it's an ace disc. But at the same time... who cares?!

They've got ten albums out - it's always going to be something's birthday. It's not an achievement. Albums don't die, it's going to keep clocking up anniversaries until the world im-/ex-plodes. The fact they're still making new music, the fact they're recording classic songs today with albums charting higher up the Billboard than they could've dreamed in the early nineties? That's the achievement. And if ever there were a completely wrong time to gaze down the navel of a two decade old success, this is that time.

Again - apologies if I'm coming across a little short. I'm tired and slightly gruffer than usual, but I sincerely don't mean to dampen your enthusiasm. If we can't speculate, we might as well not even have a message board. Speculation is the cement that keeps the stack of ranking threads from collapsing into a pile of autistic bricks. I'm just really quite fervently not seeing it, and I'm perhaps too tired to file my claws down like I usually would. Shame on me. Feel free to bookmark this page - I take my humble pie room temperature, mashed up into small mouthfuls, and if you've got any custard that'd be just terrific, thanks.

I picture Hugh Laurie reading this post. Well put.

I tend to agree with robwebster. I wouldn't complain if we got I&W in full, but I'd rather have a more conventional show from this tour.

Adami

I'm sure it will be, but I hope TSCO isn't on it. We don't need ANOTHER recording of this boring as hell song with another 5-10 minute JP intro solo.

I'm not quite clear on this. Adami, why don't you tell us how you *really* feel about TSCO and the JP intro solo?   :lol
Quote from: BlobVanDam on November 13, 2015, 07:37:14 PMAs a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

???

It's only been on two of the official releases.  It's not like they put it on every single one of them.

Yeah, but they were both phenomenal. Either way, I doubt they'd be able to top a live choir.

Yes, 2 out of 3 official live releases since the song came out originally.

IdoSC

I completely agree with Rob, partially because the 15th anniversary Fan club release satisfied my I&W needs for quite some time now. But at this point I'd rather hear ADTOE from start to finish, or a cover album. Or any DT album that doesn't get much love, regardless of how many unpopular tracks they have.

If When Dream and Day Unite could supply some good time for the crowd and the fans back in 2004, why not Awake, FII, TOT, SC or BCSL? Especially now that they're not scared to allow James to scream the hell out and since they apparently don't have any problem playing Anna Lee / Space-Dye Vest.

2 out of 4, actually. ;) Besides, it is one of their most popular songs and always a crowd pleaser, so I am not seeing the big deal here.  I know a lot of DT fans get hung up on not repeating songs on DVDs (which gets more difficult to do the more releases they have), but when a song is a popular as The Spirit Carries On is, I am fine with it making every other release or whatever.

Scorpion

That applies for playing it in concert, that's true, but I honestly don't really see the need why a crowd-pleaser should be on every live release. If the TSCO lovers are so fond of it, they can listen to the Score or the LSFNY version.

Mind you, I love the song, I just don't think we need another live release of it on the new CD, because that would probably mean that another song, which has not been released would have to be dropped.
