I still think that the 7 are guys they know already and have played with as we discussed earlier in the thread.

I think the list of 7 will come out.  Everything in this internet age comes out eventually.  Either a full list will be displayed when the winner of the DT drum sweepstakes gets named, or the next set of interviewers will basically name names until Jordan, JP, and JLB names guys by the process of elimination.

It will be like the Oscars.  They might not win, but it still is cool to be nominated.

I will also say that I have clicked on nearly every link that many of you guys have posted with potential candidates.  There are so many great drummers that have been mentioned here.  I am not a drummer but I love watching those talented guys play.  I'll miss MP, but I am excited by the concept of change.

I know a lot of people want to know who the 7 drummers are, but thinking about it the other day, I highly doubt they'll reveal any of the names other than the one that they picked. I mean, if i was auditioning for them and I didn't make it, I'm not sure if I'd want that known.

I've been thinking that Mike Mangini is not one of the drummers.  For one, he's a professor at Berklee.  For two, when he came up in the interview, JLB didn't really seem to taken aback.  Of course, JLB was thoughtful and chose not to reveal Mangini's status as one of the drummers.  That's completely natural, even if Mangini isn't.

And JLB compliments everybody.  I don't think I've ever heard him say he disliked someone.  Of course JLB is going to speak highly of every person he's worked with.

I liked them most of the time, but recently I just felt like they were being mixed in a very odd fashion. I never found them to be too high. I just like the sound of them

I don't know if this has been brought up here...but what do we think the guys of DT are looking for in their new drummer?

I'm thinking they will want another "family type" guy like they all are, who isn't a heavy partier. Pretty much everything these guys are right now. Maybe somebody who can do some background vocals would be a plus, but really they will probably be looking for somebody that can play all of Mike's old parts, but will bring something completely different to the table in terms of sounds and technique to really set off this big juncture of their career.

I do.  I had my own Watts/Amanda Jones situation in senior year of high school.  Unfortunately, unlike Keith, I didn't pull me head out in time to realize what I could have had.

I'm wondering whether this whole new drummer thing will mark a watershed for the band in terms of the material itself... I mean, I'm wondering how much they will see this as a fresh start rather than a continuation of what has gone before, if indeed they think this way.....  I'm not suggesting they're gonna release a skiffle album (though that prospect is certainly...erm... 'interesting!') but will they still be wheeling out Pull Me Under and Metropolis and suchlike or will they choose to take an 'out with the old and in with the new' sort of outlook?... Hmmm...

Little to nothing has been revealed.  Here's all we know:

1) JR said that they were auditioning from all over the world.
2) JLB was asked in an interview what he thought about Mike Mangini.  JLB had good things to say about Mangini, but stated that he could not reveal if Mangini was one of the 7 drummers.

Anyone checked out the schedules for some available drummers? I think Macaluso or Donati had a few clinics this week, might give us an indication.

Donati had the clinics, Mangini was mentioned in the interview.

But if the 'week of auditioning' was actually really a week, Donati's clinics started after that.

I know he isn't a popular choice, but Thomas Lang had a drum camp last week. The audition week was open, and than this upcoming week he has a drum camp. Maybe he was auditioning... I just really like his personality and would love to see him in DT

He's Austrian, which is why from my point of view, him being a DT member would be pretty cool.
