Yeah I assume everyone will just pick whoever is the maximum points ahead. The mechanics mean that in reality we're targeting a position, not an individual, so if they overtake or are overtaken by someone else then we'll be competing with that other person anyway.

Ariich is a freak, or somehow has more hours in the day than everyone else.

Yep, a lot of racers didn't use their full allotment.

In order to spicy things up and stimulate strategies, starting from next round I'll have you PM the targets AFTER hangman is revealed.

Also, 7 successful overtakes, 9 aborted ones.

If our overtake wasn't successful, do we still lose our points?

All points are lost regardless at round's end, but everyone starts the next round with 3 points nonetheless.

I am really struggling with what to send for round 4.  The most obvious things are either songs that I don't really want to spend time listening to, or don't think will score well.  The songs somewhat adjacent that have a chance of performing better musically might not score well enough on the theme.  I'm gonna have to hope some out of the box idea hits me in the next week or just bunt the round.

It's been a frantic couple of weeks here on the sleazy Principate of Monte DTF, a very sunny place for very shady people. Petrol-heads of all sorts and fortune have gathered to compete in a totally pointless contest of wit and taste hosted by possibly the most incoherent racing committee in the history of incoherence. The pitlane is crowded with mechanics and dung shovelers, tending to cars and horse, while the scorching hot grid is a tartan canvas exhibiting the last prodigies of technology and memecrafting.

Only one question is left to answer: Do overtake points carry over?

Sorry , muscle memory. I meant: who will reach the finish line unbanned?

While we wait for the red to give way to green, let's hear from the various VIP's, la creme de la creme, the glamorous jet-set people you'd expect in attendance for such a prestigious event:

“FFS”

“Ale, you fucking dolt, resume drinking already!”

”Nothing … or nothing you can see ... Fucking Mahomes ...”

"White Lion – Mane Attraction"

Riveting. No more room for ado though, as clutches go down and blood pressure goes up. The track is clear, the lights are off … 3 … 2 …

“So can I keep my overtake points for the next round?”

Jesus Cosworth Christ … 1 ...

GO!

I. With feline reflexes and mod privileges enhancing his TyrrellYouLater, Sir ariich Stewart yells “Don't Stop Me Now!” and sides with Mario AndretTAC, only to be sent back where he started like a rogue cart in a parking lot.

ariich p12 vs TAC p8: Moron Police (3+3) vs Hibra (5+2) No overtake.

II. Meanwhile, dancing A Tango To Remember on the astral plane, the Mentalist on his Flying Lada telekinetically punctures Sacul Fangio's tires, sending El Chueco on a crazy Pampas spin.

Evermind p5 vs Sacul p1: DSO (3+3) vs Seru Giran (3+3) (tie breaker: better vocalist wins) Overtake successful.

New Marching Order:

III. Jacques VilleChad elegantly approaches VerstappElite, ready to let his Canuck X piano school the Orange ace, but they move in different time dimensions, and the manoever is unsuccessful.

jingle p9 vs Elite p7: Frank Mills (2+2) vs Avishai Cohen (3+2) No overtake.

IV. lonestarmikaze on the Chou Gattiger, sensing ariich's failed overtake attempt, lets the gentleman driver know that True Girls Don't Shoot Coyotes, leaving him in a cloud of cherry blossoms.

lonestar p14 vs ariich p12: Gacharic Spin (5+3) vs Moron Police (3+3) Overtake successful.

V. The OcarinaMobile must have some throttle framerate issues, because V-MadLonk seems to struggle a bit with his Big Name in a Generic Piece attack to the Time Displacer.

Lonk p10 vs Elite p7: Billy Cobham (2+1) vs Avishai Cohen (3+2) No overtake.

VI. After computing 14mil universal variables, UltronJazzo launches his Matrix Mach 3 on p1, now occupied by the Mentalist, unleashing a swarm of Black Market nanomachines to no avail.

Jazzo p6 vs Evermind p1: Passport (2+3) vs DSO (3+3) No overtake.

VII. JamesBuddyHunt watches his original target sprint out of reach, but settles for letting his MelloTrain epicly overtake a discombulated ariich, who's definitely planning a Committee permaban.

Buddy p17 vs ariich p14: Revo (5+2) vs Moron Police (3+3) Overtake successful.

VIII. Rich VerstappElite, on board of the Orange Time Machine, employs a quite subtle pattern of gearshifts in order to catch up with DaniCrow Patrick, but time wasn't on his side this time.

Elite p7 vs Crow p2: Avishai Cohen (3+2) vs Monika Roscher (3+2) (tie breaker: better vocalist wins) No overtake.

IX. MarlFoxboro Man is on a She's Leaving Home meets 99 Luftballons pace, and launches his loyal steed – Schiff's Bane – on the heels of the Lady Biker. Alas the horse can't beat brake-horse power.

Stadler p4 vs Crow p2: The Flaming Lips (2+3) vs Monika Roscher (3+2) (tie breaker: better vocalist wins) No overtake.

X. Luke SkySlayer wants that p1, no matter who's occupying it at the moment. He keeps one hand on his YamAraya's handlebar, while with his swordarm performs a Sondheim Slash on the Mentalist's boot spoiler.

Luke p3 vs Evermind p1: Devin Townsend (5+1) vs DSO (3+3) (tie breaker: better vocalist wins) Overtake successful.

12. lonestar
13. King
14. Buddy
15. Puppies
16. romdrums

XI. Jeremy Puppies has really embraced the zig-zagging assignment, but his Acid Martin DB5 must be powered with some batshit crazy fuel, because it's hardly moving, let alone reaching p12.

Puppies p15 vs lonestar p 12: The Fiery Furnaces (1+4) vs Gacharic Spin (5+3) No overtake.

XII. DaniCrow Patrick, one with her 4/10 cylinders Electa Glide, pounces on Luke - the new race leader – in a clash of motorbikes. Alas, her Bjork-Stravinsky manoever isn't enough to swap positions.

Crow p2 vs Luke p1: Monika Roscher (3+2) vs Devin Townsend (5+1) (tie-breaker: best vocalist wins) No overtake.

XIII. RomKnight is ready, DrumKITT even readier, and with a splendid Manoever Obviously Thought For Yes is able to catch King FenderBender and leave him in the digital rearview mirror.

romdrums p16 vs King p13: Trevor Rabin (5+2) vs Psychostick (1+3) Overtake successful.

New Marching Order:
1. Luke
2. Crow

XIV. Mario AndretTAC has quite the firm handle on his Masshole Machine. He engages the Keeper of the Seven Painkillers NOS and spears the Flying Lada at full speed, sending it out of his way.

TAC p8 vs Evermind p3: Hibria (5+2) vs DSO (3+3) Overtake successful.

New Marching Order:
1. Luke
2. Crow

XV. King FenderBender isn't discouraged by the positions loss, and still moves his (beer-fueld for this round) CeltiCar two positions ahead. Unfortunately, he can't pass

King p16 vs Buddy p14: Psychostick (1+3) vs Revo (5+2) No overtake

XVI. It's Toto Wolfking's turn now, launching his SubarOrc Impreca in a Vaudeville Metal attack at VerstappElite's expenses. Overtaking isn't for everyone: some can, some cun't.

wolfking p11 vs Elite p7: Mercyful Fate (3+4) vs Avishai Cohen (3+2) Overtake successful.

New Marching Order:
1. Luke
2. Crow
3. TAC
4. Stadler
5. Sacul
6. Jazzo

Feel free to send for Round 3 (Theme: send me a song that turns on itself) but PLEASE DON'T PM YOUR TARGETS YET! Let's postpone that when hangman is revealed and you can take a gander at everyone's submissions.

As usual, overtake points and banned acts situations are updated on my second post on Page 1.

My own overtake didn’t work because the tie-breaker factors in vocals when I sent an instrumental song? :lol

And then everybody failed to overtake me, except the person that pushes me back 4 places

I assure you an instrumental would have won against bad vocals.

Unless an instrumental is considerably musically superior to a sung number, good vocals usually win for me.

Picking up on how important vocals are to you Indy, has probably saved you from an inevitable King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard submission. I love the band, but am first to admit that the vocals are the weak link in their armour.

I might say "fuck it" later on down the line, but not when I'm in first!

Just so I'm clear, my "perk" for being in first is that get to send two songs, and you pick which one you prefer?

Also, scoring for this round? I received a 5 for the quality of the song but only a 1 for the theme? My song may not have been the most ziggy zaggy, but I definitely did zig and zag (in my interpretation).

Surely this is the opportunity to send the Gizz for one of them, with the other being the safety net?
