I didn't cram 10 pounds of shit into a 5 pound bag like ya'll did so that's your own fault. My EP is only 44 minutes, just 4 over the limit for the normal rounds :lol

5lbs of shit in a 5lb bag is still 5lbs of shit.   :lol

I accept your future apology for this comment after you see my EP and writeup.  :-*

Inasmuch as I'll accept yours.   ;)

The closest thing to 'heavy' on my EP is a post-rock song. Other than that, there is no rock or metal whatsoever on my EP, hell there's virtually not even any guitar outside of that one song.

all 9 tracks on my concept album are metal. i think only one of them doesn't have growls of any sort.

:lol Nah didn't do that this time. Just one main protagonist, plus a narrator for the prologue and epilogue. It's definitely a more coherent story as a result.

I sent 7 artists this time.  This is my second concept album.  How do those who have been doing this for a while approach them?  Do you come up with a story first and then find songs to fit?  Do you have a list of songs first?

Usually I pick two or three songs I wanna use that go together, come up with a general story path, then pick songs that could fit it to flesh out the narrative, and I write up the full concept once I'm done

I went into puppies' concept album round with an idea of what I wanted to do but this is what I did for TAC's and ariich's concept albums

pfft... lightweight.  18 artists; 20 songs.  Even the shortened version is 10 artists; 12 songs.

I approach things the same way.  I couldn't re-use the idea I had for Puppers, cuz most of those artists were banned.

I wish I could say I had a plan for concept albums, but I to this day never finished the concept album I was gonna send Puppies after his last roulette. Concept albums always happen at the END of a roulette, and by that point I've usually exhausted my most favorite and beloved artists which wipes out a good chunk of potential 'concept album' material. So my routine has always been 'find artists that haven't been used or aren't banned -> pick a bunch of favorites and potential concept-fodder songs -> whittle it down -> shoehorn a concept out of that'  :lol

So, the vast majority of my posts here have been light and jokey (not that I lie, it's just that for me roulettes are about the fun not the actual scores and what not) except... I wasn't friggin' around with the Bradley Cooper references.  No, it's not about him, but I had a really lame one that wasn't even a concept as much as a conceit, and I decided that I needed to do better.  So I plotted out an arc in the shower (that part was real) and as I did it, the songs just materialized.  It was really that easy. I agonized about maybe two songs in the whole roulette; the rest suggested themselves (I did have a couple moments where I picked from two obvious choices).

I went with the adage "write about what you know" and I can only beg TACs indulgence in the reading.  But this was BY FAR the easiest round in the roulette in terms of construction.

My story came out pretty much how I wanted it too though I tried to avoid overdetailing it for old man TAC

Of course, the story is, ahem, "whack", so it doesn't really matter
