algiers: i think i like this a bit more than their debut though it's still not hugely up my alley. but it feels like more of the songs connect here than their debut, and it definitely ends stronger too. they cut back on the gospel vibes a bit though and replaced them with a more industrial sound which can work but i hope they don't push that even farther on their next album. but yeah nah this is good stuff. not amazing stuff, but in enjoy it
ex eye: the atmosphere and style of this album are really cool but it's a bit light on substance and the kind of album i find myself getting tired of a bit quickly. not necessarily that it's bad - it isn't, and some of the more intense atmospheric parts are actually fantastic, it just can feel a bit repetitive at moments
junius: i'm not much a fan of the more upbeat tracks on this record - it doesn't work well with their style, and in particular tracks 3 & 4 sound too similar for comfort. but then there's a lot of other tracks here with just, great emotional hooks to them and great atmosphere as well. the opener and closer in particular stand out, as well as tracks 6 and 7. i don't know if they have the most original sound out there but i think this is a pretty solid album at the very least
