Probably the best Solstafir album I have heard so far  :corn  (I've listened to Berdreyminn and Otta, as well)

I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

After a Google reverse-image search, it looks like it's called "Empyrean & Ophidian" by Amendfoil.

Awaken the Guardian by Fates Warning has been my jam the last couple days.
From a Mega Man Legends island jamming power metal to a Walrus listening to black metal, I like your story arc.

I'm pretty sure the vocalist is into Baroness and Kvelertak, and they draw their own album art. There's a bit of that proggy stoner/sludge vibe in the music but the sound is definitely distinct.

Listened to this new Distant Worlds album earlier, in anticipation of seeing the Distant Worlds Orchestra perform at the Royal Albert Hall in a few weeks   :heart

Last two weeks, without counting this one. More roulette stuff, this week's (which I'll post tomorrow) it's the last one concerning those albums:

Hergest Ridge: Dunno, so far exploring Mike Oldfield's discography has been quite a disappointment. I love Ommadawn and its sequel, but other stuff I've tried to far hasn't really grabbed me. This one is the closest I've come to like from those. I'll give Amarok a try and be done with him for now.

March of Ghosts: Didn't expect much but this is a very solid Gazpacho record. Loving the celtic influence here. Atmospheric and lovely as usual.

Hounds of Love: Dunno why I didn't give it a fair chance two years ago, because this is some excellent music, very well-crafted pop. Smart, creative, catchy, and very enjoyable. Love how it avoids most of lame 80s pop clichés and produces something very unique.

The Underside of Power: This is better than I expected, and I probably like it more than their debut. A bit more electronic this time, a little heavier too. I'm into it.

As a side note, some roulette stuff from these weeks has been very good and surprising - found myself really enjoying Deftones' White Pony and Fair to Midland's inter.funda.stifle. Still have to give them a third listen but they sound promising so far.

Make sure to check out Fables from a Mayfly too sometime, some of the songs from inter.funda.stifle have been rerecorded for that album (which has a way better production as it is not self-produced)
