The trade is:

Dickey
Thole
One non-elite prospect

for

D'Arnaud
John Buck
Noah Syndergaard (TOR's #1 pitching prospect)
One non-elite prospect

Pretty good haul for a 39 year old!

What is it this year and organizations so easily trading away their top prospects?! Seriously!

Well with this and the Marlins trade the Jays have revamped their rotation and lineup to be clear AL East favorites since the Yanks and Sox appear to be down. Remember, they haven't been to the playoffs in nearly 20 years.

Oh yeah, totally, but I mean in general.

Jays for some years now have been making moves to be legitimate contenders in the East.

I know this is the right move (sounds like a great deal, actually), but I'm gonna miss Dickey.

If Wheeler and d'Arnaud pan out, Alderson is gonna look like a genius.

Yeah I mean the Jays have been so set on stocking the farm I think its refreshing to see them give up some prospects for a shot here and now. Mets fans will love D'arnaud. Kids a stud.

Anyone think that Berkman retires?

I really don't think he has much of a choice now, with the Pena signing

Although he had a great 2011, last year he only had 81 AB's he admits to being gun-shy as to having a catostraphic (sp) injury. He wanted to stay close to home and Rice University. I say retire now, go into college coaching and if the opportunity exists maybe become a coach of some sort in the future on the pro level

Considering the recent history of Red Sox trading for a closer, this is bad for Hanrahan!

Historical revisionism will completely destroy the day the BBWAA didn't elect Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens to the Hall of Fame.

I really don't see the problem with Jack Morris.  Not saying he's the greatest choice, but he does have wins and titles.  If he ever did get in you can at least point to results instead of stats.  Maybe his ERA really is bloated by his time and divisions, it's hard to judge era from different periods.  You can probably point to the dead ball era all you want for classy pitching stats, but that doesn't mean they were simply superior or that the batters were inferior.

Wins is the issue. He wasn't a very good pitcher.
