There's at least two more names that I'd say off the top of my head that are much better defensively than Martin (Yadier, Wieters, Ryan Harrigan and Miguel Montero) and if go and do some research I believe you would find that this is true.

Martin has league average in wRC+ (96) in 2012 for catchers. He's also the second best pitch framer in the league (second behind only the immortal Jose Molina) and Martin is a fucking great defensive catcher. He is literally one of the best catchers in the game. It's okay, though. Ye have not yet ascended to my level of baseball intellect.

it was a minor point. but, league average offense with his God given defensive skills...no brainer. he's a top tier catcher. I'm not saying Yadier is bad, but throwing base-stealers out is NOT all there is to defense.

No, there's also pitch blocking/wild pitch blocking where Wieters and Harrigan lead the league... by a lot! And actually, by percentage, Harrigan caught more guys stealing than Yadi. And CERA (Catcher's ERA) he was 10 out of the 11 that qualified.

I'm not saying he sucks, I'm just laughing at the notion of him being call the best defensive C when he clearly isn't.

My position on this is consistent: you either have to let all cheaters in or none of them; you can't pick and choose.  And since the MLB Hall has already let suspected cheaters in in the past (Gaylord Perry, anyone?), to suddenly get all moral about it seems a bit out of place if you ask me.  Bonds and Clemens should both make it; Sosa and McGwire are borderline HOFers either way.

I'm with Kev in the you either allow them all or none at all and Hank Aaron himself has said that players from his era that used should be kicked off the HoF (https://blogs.ajc.com/jeff-schultz-blog/2009/07/26/aaron-wants-past-steroid-users-exposed-banned-from-hall/), which makes snapple's post somewhat ironic.
