What I am saying (and this applies to most of the metal being released too) is that in terms of style/sound it's pretty much all been done before and it's very rare for a new release to feature melodies and song structures that I haven't heard before. Those rare albums from recent years (for me bands like Trail of Murder and Shy,...........and the latest SX) are the very, very few to score 90%+ from me.
If a fairly stock standard but very high quality group of songs with a great vocalist gets me tapping my foot/banging my head then I am prepared to give it a good rating in the 8-8.5 area. I sometimes think that people see 84% as much higher than an 8.4/10 for some reason
The same sort of sentiment applies to bands like Accept, Primal Fear etc.........enjoyable but predictable for the most part.
What are you doing in here anyway ?
