Dammit, I caved in and got the box set.

My wallet isn't happy, but this is my face right now!

I can never use that picture too much. It's hard to keep from  staring at it any time I see it.

While you all have your shiny box sets I'll have food.  Food, petrol, and rebuilding my savings account unfortunately takes precedence over shiny TDH vinyl.

I still live with my parents so with the money I save on not paying rent I have a bit to throw around on shiny box sets.

Your priorities are fucked man. TDH > sex > food

In order to be able to afford the VIP Opeth ticket I canceled my box set order. :(

I still got the pre-sale package on the tickets and will be buying the whole digital version of Colors, so it's not like TDH is letting me off easy.

- 1 General Admission ticket
- Meet and Greet with Opeth before show
- Early Entry into venue.
- 1 High Quality Embroidered Opeth Tour shoulder bag including:
- 1 Special Opeth VIP Tour T-shirt
- Limited-edition Opeth tour poster signed by the band at the meet and greet
- Limited-edition Opeth guitar pick tin with Opeth guitar picks
- Commemorative Opeth show-specific VIP tour laminate

I'm mostly interested in the meet and greet/early access but all the other stuff is cool too.

I miss the days when you could just wait outside the venue after the show and the band would hang out with you for free and Martin Lopez would try to buy drugs off you :(

Did that happen to you? :lol

Yeah, it is a pretty expensive ticket and I'm not 100% convinced it's worth it. But this will be my first Opeth show so I'm hoping to make it extra special. :caffeine:

Anyways, still very much looking forward to the digital version of Colors.

Lol.. yup.  Probably back in like '02 or '03.  We were hanging out after a show and Lopez was going around trying to score weed.  Unfortunately we didn't have any :(.

Funny follow-up though - there was this other kid we were hanging out with, and Lopez tried to score off him too, but he also didn't have any.  Fast forward 2 or 3 years, and we're at another show, again hanging out by the back door waiting for the band, and we see this same kid.  So we're like... "hey, remember that time Lopez tried to buy weed off of us?!  Haha that was so funny etc etc"... so the kid is like "Yeah... but listen to this - the next time I went to see Opeth after that show, I brought some weed with me, and I ran into Lopez again, and when I offered him some he invited me onto the bus to smoke with him".  I obviously have no idea whether the kid just made that up of if it actually happened, but it wouldn't surprise me if it did.  Aside from Mendez (who also kept to himself), the rest of the band was always extremely fan-friendly.  Peter even left an out-going voicemail message on my friend's cell phone, so for years afterwards, every time I'd call him and get his v/m, I would hear: "This is Peter from Opeth... you're calling Justin's phone... leave a fucking message!"

But yeah, after that Lopez story, it certainly came as less of a surprise to us when he left the band because of a drug problem :/.

Anyone here know if Newbury Comics might ever get their hands on the vinyl?  I really really want to put my new record player to use (thanks to gf for an awesome b-day present :heart), but I don't wanna shell out $80 online.

I need to get some of their stuff sometime. Saw them open for Porcupine Tree and Mastodon, and they were easily the best act that night.
