Yeah that's kinda lame, though they suffer from being the non-female, non-singing, rhythm section of a band that has basically no focus on the bass or drums at all.

As cruel as it sounds, I don't care about Garron...at all. They could lose him and not have a bass player at all, and I wouldn't give half a fuck.

Once again we disagree.  Maybe I'm a bit biased in this regard, but they'd lose a lot without a bass player.  There's a lot of nice, tasteful, simple stuff in the low end.

Yeah, the bass and drums have some interesting moments on their songs.

I'm not sure how much Garron actually brings to the table that another bassist couldn't, but they certainly need a bass player. Gadough, as usual you fail terribly at life.

I guess I've just never noticed it. :-\

Edit: "It" being the bass. I can't recall ever actually picking up on it.

Are you a musician? The bass is definitely there. Maybe your speakers are bad, but even then, you would definitely notice a difference (it would feel "airy" and not full).

But I know that sometimes, non-musicians don't know that sort of stuff, which is understandable.

I think you would know the difference pretty quickly if the bass was gone.

Me: "How?"

No I'm not a musician, but I don't think you have to be to notice a bass presence. I can usually pick out the bass player in any band I listen to, regardless of how buried he is in the mix. But you're right, I'm sure if they took him out I would notice a difference, I just don't like that I can't pick him out. But that's my own fault, I guess.

I am listening to random songs off of Room Noises right now, and the bass is very good in the mix, it stands out very well. I picked it up right away. He isn't buried you awesome dog.

Listen to Marvelous Things, you can definitely hear him come in after the first "Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah". That's probably a good way to gauge the bass on the album, at least partly.

OK see I can totally hear it there because you pointed out a specific part for me to focus on. But if I were just listening to the song in passing, I never would have heard him.

And btw, I can't for the life of me pick it out in the chorus. I just can't. I'm trying really hard.

It stays the same, it's just that the chorus gets louder from the other instruments. I can still follow it through the chorus. and the second verse after the chorus the bass is very audible as the other instruments really quiet down.

Some other factors:

1. kps. I have Room Noises at 320 kps, which is great. Really brings out a lot of the crisp and clean sound quality. You may have a lower kps, I don't know.
2. Speakers: If you have crappy speakers, it may be harder to notice it. (although my speakers are run of the mill).
3. Like I said, if the other instruments go from soft to loud (like in Marvelous Things, you may lose where the bass "was going", but it is still there, which leads me to point number 4
4. Sometimes the bass is more felt than heard. I find that I can sometimes feel where it is without actually knowing what's the general bassline being played.

Like Room Noises, but with a little bit more of a Rock sound.

Don't fret. It won't stay pink for long. Sherri changes her hair color every few months.

Gotta listen as soon as I have time.

So I just learned that Eisley's playing in Asheville tomorrow opening for some band called Rooney.  :caffeine: I'm seriously considering it.  Need to find someone to go with who's willing to leave before Rooney's set is over.  I have early classes on Monday.

EDIT: Whelp.  I bought tickets.

If it makes you feel better its only a 45 minute set.

I've had Many Funerals and Invasion stuck in my head all day.  I hope I'm not totally burnt out on Eisley before the Valley even comes out!

Oh my god I got to meet them (except Weston, he was playing roadie) and got a poster and my copy of Room Noises signed.  They were SUPER nice and so adorable in person. :caffeine:  We have a shitty cell phone picture with them (my friend and I both forgot real cameras  )  They played a bunch of new songs beyond the three that have been officially released, and all of them were very good.  The new album is going to be great! :caffeine: :caffeine: :caffeine:

Here's the setlist (spoilers)

Better Love (new song)
Golly Sandra
Many Funerals
Brightly Wound
Smarter
The Valley
Invasion
I Wasn't Prepared
Sad (new song)
Ambulance
Mr. Moon (new song)

I think that's right...
