So I made a thread about them many many moons ago, which got like one response. However, I know now that there are at least several fans out there, and we've pretty much just been spamming every thread with EISLEYEISLEYEISLEY, so I figured we should have a thread.

I only have Room Noises thus far but I absolutely love this record. I really like the harmonized vocals and the songwriting. They really are becoming a favorite of mine! :heart

*Super Appreciates*

They're amazing. My crush on Sherri is gaining ground on my crush for Stacy :lol

Golly Sandra is the best song ever.
-
Reporting in. I've already made it clear on multiple occasions how obsessed with this band I've recently become, so I'll refrain from mindless ranting proclaiming my undying love for them for the sake of not being obnoxious.
Every song on Room Noises except for Just Like We Do is a worthy candidate of the title "the best song ever."
Goon, you'll have to fight me for Sherri. Like, seriously. We're throwing down. Rite nao. *puts on boxing gloves* Let's go motherfucker.
-
No idea what this band is like. But I will listen to Room Noises and report back with my findings
-
:tup Enjoy it!
-
Eisley is one of the better bands out there today.
-
No idea what this band is like. But I will listen to Room Noises and report back with my findings
Well?
-
I will see this band on tour no matter what.
-
The banner on their Myspace says they're planning an October - November tour, but I've yet to see any official dates. :-\
-
I wish they come near Montreal!
-
I've only heard Room noises so far but it's fantastic. :tup I need to check out the other album now.
-
I'M ALWAYS WONDERING WHERE YOU ARE!
-
I will be able to die happy once I see them live.
-
No idea what this band is like. But I will listen to Room Noises and report back with my findings
Well?
On the first song. It's amazing. Just watching the rain out my window and listening. :hefdaddy

Stacy looks kind of weird without black hair. I think that's why I prefer Sherri, because she looks good no matter what she does with her hair.
-
Stacy with light hair < Sherri <<< Stacy with dark hair < nothing and no one
-
...What's Stacy's natural color?
-
It's a dark brown/black.
-
When Hayley and Sherri unite. :omg:

-
I've just started listening to them, and man they're so good! Thanks for the recommendation Sigz!
-
I want tour dates!
-
Room Noises is really good, though i don't think i will get the other album.

She's gorgeous.
-
That's an understatement.
Room Noises is really good, though i don't think i will get the other album.
Any reason why?
-
Love this band, such beautiful melodies and harmonies.
-
That's an understatement.
Room Noises is really good, though i don't think i will get the other album.
Any reason why?
Well, i think Room Noises covers that ground pretty well.
The music is really good, but it doesn't really make me want to get more. :P
-
Found a copy of "Room Noises" in the radio station. Will burn and offer my thoughts later. I've got a lot of new music to listen to...
-
That's an understatement.

Well, i think Room Noises covers that ground pretty well.
The music is really good, but it doesn't really make me want to get more. :P
Combinations is pretty different than Room Noises, for better or worse.
-
What do you mean?
-
I mean it has its own distinct sound, its not just Room Noises Pt. 2.
-
Oh OK! :tup I think that's a good thing. Too many bands tries to recreate their albums over and over.
-
It's much more mature and serious. It lacks the lighthearted fluffiness of Room Noises. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, that's just the way it is.
-
Yeah, Room Noises is much more 'whimsical', musically and lyrically.
-
Well i didn't really question that it would sound different, but i guess the music doesn't really do as much for me as it does for some others here. :P
I do think Room Noises is a great album, not a single bad track, but overall it didn't made me think: "OMG, i HAVE to buy this like NOW", i smile when i listen to it, and it has a positive feeling overall. :)
Maybe i'll check out the other album in the future, but there's a lot of other artists/bands i've discovered lately that has had a bigger effect on me, so to speak.
-
Yeah, Room Noises is much more 'whimsical', musically and lyrically.
I hope we see that style again on the third album.
.........
IF IT'S EVER FUCKING RELEASED
-
Yeah, Room Noises is much more 'whimsical', musically and lyrically.
I love that. The majority of my music is sad and serious.
-

.........
IF IT'S EVER FUCKING RELEASED
From the bits I've heard of it, it sounds really good.
-
I've heard Ambulance and I like it a lot. I still want there to be some whimsical songs on the next album though.
In other news, One Day I Slowly Floated Away's chorus makes me bounce up and down in my chair. So irresistible.
-
Are all the B-sides scattered through all their EPs and singles worth looking into? There's quite a few of them...
-
YES
-
OKAY
I'll look into them then.

-
I tried showing Eisley to a friend and he said they sounded too much like Coldplay.
wat
-
I totally see the comparison, besides the fact that Coldplay is boring as fuck.
-
I guess I haven't heard enough Coldplay to make a comparison. I assumed he was being retarded.
:splodetard:
-
Oh, he totally was.
-
I'm always confused...who is the main singer of Eisley? And do they switch singing duty with songs?
-
I have a hard time distinguishing who is who on vocals.
-
I entered "Eisley" into Youtube, and now I'm listening to the Star Wars Cantina song :lol
rumborak
-
The harmonies during the last chorus of Telescope Eyes are cumtastic
-
The harmonies during Room Noises are cumtastic
I completely agree. :tup
-
I'm always confused...who is the main singer of Eisley? And do they switch singing duty with songs?
It's not quite 50/50...Stacy and Sherri do share vocal duties, but Sherri does a bit more than Stacy. Usually.
I have a hard time distinguishing who is who on vocals.
So do I sometimes. A good rule of thumb is to remember that Stacy is slightly lower in pitch than Sherri.
-

I WAS POINTING OUT A SPECIFIC EXAMPLE, ASSHOLE.
-

Pretty much. It really depends on the song.
-

Here's a good way to get used to who's who...listen to the songs "I Wasn't Prepared" and "Trolley Wood." Both songs start with Sherri. In I Wasn't Prepared, Stacy enters at about 0:57. In Trolley Wood, Stacy enters at about 0:40. That should give you a basic idea of the differences in their voices.

I WAS POINTING OUT THE ALBUM AS A WHOLE, SEXY.
YEAH I KNOW IT'S AWESOME

I'll try that and I'll watch some live clips on youtube to see for myself! :tup

That sucks Sigz. :(
But I will be going to the Boston show likely.... if I can find someone who will go with me, I hate going into Boston alone.
-
And you motherfuckers get Christi Dupree as an opener.
For everyone who is going: expect to have your mouth shit in tonight while you sleep.

And you motherfuckers get Christi Dupree as an opener.

Can those of us who aren't sure if we will be attending still expect a surprise tonight?
:-*
-
I'm sad that there is no Canadian dates on this tour...
-
Tour Dates yo:
16 Orlando, FL The Social
If I can scrape up the cash for a ticket, I can totally make it to this show. It's a five or so hour drive, but I'm not scared.
-
Will you be sleeping there?
-
Probably not. :lol But for every concert I've ever been to I've had to drive several hours, so I'm used to rolling in at six in the morning with a sore neck, lost voice, and impaired hearing. It's all part of the experience.
-
:lol Yeah I do that sometimes but it's rarely over 2 hours.
Or do what I always do when I drive at night: block your steering-wheel, put the cruise-control on and sleep while you drive! :tup The worse that can happen if that you'll die and/or cause the death of others.
-
Both of which are worth it to see Eisley.
-
I'd happily cause the death of multiple innocent people if it meant I got to see Eisley.
-
I'm going to buy my tickets as soon as the link is posted. :caffeine:
-
I only have money for Devin Townsend or Eisley.
WAT DO
(I'm leaning towards Eisley)
-
If I had to pick between the two I would do Townsend, but I don't, so I'll go see both. :metal
-
I only have money for Devin Townsend or Eisley.
WAT DO
(I'm leaning towards Eisley)
Eisley.
-
I'm fucking going.
To both Devin and Eisley. YES.
-
Sigh. I didn't want to have to drive 5 hours, but it looks like I have to. I'll be at the Lake Charles, LA Oct. 9th date. Since it's the very first date on the tour I hope that doesn't mean they'll be rusty. :-\
-
>implying Eisley is ever anything but perfect
-
Good point.
-
The Farmingdale, NY show is literally 15 minutes away from my house.
I won't be home that weekend (most likely).

I'm starting to think that Boyd Dupree specifically picks out fans, spies on them and learns their schedules, and then chooses dates that will be in conflict with when the fan could go. Just to fuck with us.

I love Sherri so much that I just watched a 5 minute video of her talking about what she uses to draw. And I couldn't give a fuck less about what she's saying because I don't even draw.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAHbd9FyjM8&feature=player_embedded
And I'm about to watch it again. Is that creepy?
-
Sonata would be double-interested to see that! :tup
-
Bump
I just listened to a bunch of this.
I love this. I want more of it.
-
We all do. The new album was supposed to come out over a year and a half ago.
Also, I didn't get to go to the October 9th Lake Charles show. Lame.
-
Holy... shit.
-
thecrowing just called me.
From the Eisley concert.
And held the phone up so I could hear their beautiful harmonies.
I am elated and distraught.
-
GOD IT SOUNDS SO GOOD
WHY HAVE I NEVER HEARD OF THEM BEFORE
-
I'M SEEING THEM ON FUCKING THURSDAY. HOLY SHIT.
-
TAKE ME WITH YOU
-
MY TICKET IS FOR ONE. I'M GOING WITH MY FRIEND THOUGH.
-
I keep trying to listen to this album but I just keep playing Golly Sandra over and over again.
-
I keep trying to listen to this album but I just keep playing Golly Sandra over and over again.
I've done the same thing.
-
It's so strange for me to listen to Room Noises without lying on the floor.
-
your comment -----------
my head - o
-
?
-
Your comment went over my head. Unless you were being serious.
In which case, explain yourself.
-
Usually
whenever I
listen to
Eisley
I'm lying on the floor
-
w
h
y
?
-
because when I click
on the eisley music
I move my body
and put it on the floor
and stare at the ceiling
and I look for things
but they're
already there
so why fuss?
i lay very still
and
that way
with me on the floor
being still
and my eyes occupied
i know
that i'm listening to eisley
-
I keep trying to listen to this album but I just keep playing Golly Sandra over and over again.
If I were to rank the songs on Room Noises, that would be #11.
........
Actually, I think I'm gonna do that right now!
1. Lost at Sea
2. I Wasn't Prepared
3. Plenty of Paper
4. Memories
5. Brightly Wound
6. One Day I Slowly Floated Away
7. Marvelous Things
8. Telescope Eyes
9. Trolley Wood
10. My Lovely
11. Golly Sandra
12. Just Like We Do
4-10 was nearly impossible to rank.
-
WTF GOLLY SANDRA.
-
Don't get me wrong. I love every song on Room Noises with the white hot passion and intensity of a thousand billion suns. That includes Golly Sandra.
But, when ranking the songs, I like the other 10 a wee bit more.
-
GOOD GOLLY GADOUGH
-
G G GOLLY GADOUGH
YOU'VE RANKED 'EM PRETTY CRAZY
-
:lol :heart
-
It appears that Stacy no longer has jet black hair. Sigz will be most displeased.

-
I am also displeased. It's cool though.
I need to meet them. I must.
-
I bet meeting them would be really awkward. They seem so shy.
-
They're like the only musicians I actively want to meet. Sherri doesn't seem shy at all.
-
I really think Stacy DuPree's cover of Silver Springs is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard.
-
I'm listening to it right now. I'm finding it difficult to disagree.
-
Nah bro, they're really cool. And married :sadpanda:
We were joking and stuff.
The lined off section of the set was an acoustic performance.
-
I'm going to light you on fire with my mind.

that neckbeard has got to be the world's best women repellent.
-
What neckbeard? It's just a beard.
-
that neckbeard has got to be the world's best women repellent.
It's funny that you say that 'cause after the show I got a girl's number.
And thank you Sigz for effortlessly defending me using the obvious as your argument... still.... THIS CHANGES NOTHING!
-
Oh I'm still gonna kill you. But I will always defend a good beard.
-
'Cause yours sucks?
YOU LEAVE THE FANICA WITH ME!
-
neckbeard or no neckbeard, it still looks pretty atrocious from here
-
Uhm. Collin Dupree is their youngest sibling who isn't involved with the band in any way, right? Why did he sign the setlist? :lol
-
He was at the merch booth and I made him. :lol
-
lol
Is he a good kid?
-
neckbeard or no neckbeard, it still looks pretty atrocious from here
Are you going to be o.k. man?
Go have a period about it.
-
Yeah he's cool. He didn't want to but I was like, "You better." I think it was because he hasn't worked on his sig. I'm glad someone noticed.
Sonata, :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

I'm going to start saying this irl
Also, who's the sign above Collin's? It looks like Stacy but I'm not sure.
-
Top-Bottom/Left-Right:
Chauntelle, Stacy, Sherri
-
Wait, you met all three of them?
.......
I'm going to light you on fire with my mind.
-
I... did go to the show... and get the setlist....
Yes. Yes I did. For the second time.
this one has all of their sigs.
-
FUCK. Were they at their merch stand, crowing? I really want to meet them on Thursday.
-
So here's me, listening to Room Noises, and my brother chimes in "This is like the music that thirteen year old girls listen to while they cut themselves."
And I'm like
(https://images.pwned.com/userimages/1240463480-godotstfu.jpg)
-
That's silly. They're not even close to being emo.
-
Put on Marvelous Things and slit his wrists while he sleeps.
-
Just got back from the concert. It was honestly one of the best shows I've ever seen. They played everything I wanted to hear including some acoustic arrangements of Room Noises tunes and an impromptu encore of Trolleywood.
Thank you for showing us this band, Sigzy. Really.
-
Man I wish I could've seen them on Wednesday...schoolwork just had different plans for me. *sigh*
EDIT: Eisley is too happy sounding to slit your wrists too. Thats a Blackfield job.
-
Well I missed the Lake Charles date but I'm going to do everything in my power to make it to either the Dallas or the Austin date....fate, don't you dare disappoint me.
-
Do whatever it takes, Gadough. They are worth it.
-
I wanna see the picture of you and Christie.
-
I hate every single one of you with a burning passion. IVE BEEN WAITING YEARS TO SEE THEM LIVE YOU COCK FUCKING PLEBEIANS

Today, after a two-year battle with Warner Bros. Records, Eisley, the Tyler-based, indie rock family band, is moving forward with plans to release their long-awaited third record. And, for the first time in their career it will come on an indie label, as the band tells DC9 that its new record will see release on the New York-based Equal Vision Records in March 2011.
It's a bit of an odd fit for Eisley, whose fairy tale indie pop will be at odds with the label's mostly emo roster, but, after a disappointing eight-year run with Warner Bros. + Reprise Records, during which the band released two full-length records and seven EPs, the band appears mostly happy just to be out of the major label rigmarole.
"When Equal Vision Records came and approached us, they came down to Tyler to hang out with us, which is amazing," singer and guitarist Sherri DuPree-Bemis tells DC9 over the phone from Eisley's tour bus. "And that was different. I mean, no one from Warner Bros. ever came down to hang out with us, get to know us, and talk about the record with us."
More details on the upcoming release after the jump.
The change in label homes has been a long time coming for the band, which had been fighting for release from Warner Bros. since the 2007 release of its sophomore full-length, Combinations.
"I definitely feel like they held us back, because when you're on a major label, you count on them to promote your record and get your music out there," DuPree-Bemis says. "When you're counting on a big company to do that for you, and that's their job, and they don't do it, it does end up hurting your career."
But, she says, the label begged them to stay and promised them that they would get more attention on a new deal with Sire Records, a subsidiary of Warner Brothers. So the band agreed to stay on, and began recording their third record. When it was complete, though, the disc's reception at Sire Records was more than disappointing.
"They didn't get it," says DuPree-Bemis. "[Our A&R guy] told us 'I don't think this label's going to work for you like you need. If you guys want to get off the label, I think you should.'"
But the label wouldn't let them have the songs recorded for that effort.
"We lost another year, basically, just waiting, and trying, and fighting to get the record from them," DuPree-Bemis says. "We finally got on good terms. We finally got the record, and we're going to put it out on Equal Vision Records."
As for the new record's name?
"It might be called The Valley after one of the songs," says DuPree-Bemis. "It seems to fit the theme of the record--what we've been through as a band."
Keep an eye out for am upcoming profile on the band and its recent label struggles in an upcoming issue of the Observer, as the band continues its nationwide tour, which wraps up in Dallas on Saturday, November 27, at The Loft.

HOORAH
BOUT FUCKING TIME
-
So, I'm thinking about running an Eisley survivor about a month or so after the 3rd album comes out (to give us all ample time to form ranked opinions). It would include the 3 studio albums as well as all of the studio tracks scattered across the EPs that don't appear anywhere else, grouped together. I think this would be interesting because unlike bands such as Dream Theater and Coheed and Cambria, the results of the survivor wouldn't be clear cut at all. Since every Eisley song is about the same length and there aren't any fan favorite standouts (unlike DT with Octavarium and ACOS, etc.) the results of the survivor could be anyone's guess, and would thus be worth running and would be interesting.
I think there's enough people to warrant it. Right off the top of my head I can think of several people who may participate:
Me
Sigz
Gorille
Antigoon
Glaurung
Sonata
TheCrowing
Zantera
SkyDivingNinja perhaps?
I'm sure there's a few I'm forgetting? Honestly, I'd be satisfied with 5 voters per round. So who's in?
-
I would participate! :)
Also, i'm going to get all Eisley-stuff i can find since i only know Room Noises, but it will have to wait a month or so, since my net is shit. :P
-
I was thinking of making one too so I'd definitely be up for it.
-
I could only vote on Room Noises :-[
-
I could only vote on Room Noises :-[
Me too
-
I keep listening to that album, and I regret not going to their show here in Greenville more and more. Stupid schoolwork :(
-
I don't think I've gone a whole day without listening to at least one song from that album in the past few months :|
-
why won't you losers get Combinations? It's fucking GOOD.
-
My mp3 player can't hold any more music :lol
I might see if the songs are on youtube though...
-
why won't you losers get Combinations? It's fucking GOOD.
I prefer Room Noises, so many nice harmonies!
-
They're both ridiculously good. And Combinations has great harmonies, as well.
Do you guys know if songs like Ambulance and The Valley are going to be on the new record?

Well in the latest press release they said the album could be titled "The Valley" after one of the songs on the record....so my guess is there will DEFINITELY be a song very very very similar to The Valley on the next album :neverusethis:
-
:lol
-
why won't you losers get Combinations? It's fucking GOOD.
Seconded.
Do you guys know if songs like Ambulance and The Valley are going to be on the new record?
Hopefully, considering that both of those songs are even better than the songs on Combinations.
-
Yeah, they are. What's your favorite from Combinations?
-
Probably...Taking Control. Ten Cent Blues and I Could Be There For You are both close seconds, the latter being so because of Chauntelle's part. :heart
A Sight to Behold is great also, because it's actually hard-rockish. :metal
-
A Sight To Behold is so bad ass!
"Forever....AND EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR"
Ten Cent blues is definitely my favorite, though. I kinda wanna do a top 10 now.
-
Do eeet.
-
There are so many good songs on Combinations, it's hard to pick a favorite for me.
-
FUCK THEY WERE IN IOWA ON FRIDAY
I don't have a car atm but still FUCK
-
The title track is the best them.
-
I'm seeing Eisley tonight.
u mad?

You're gonna love it!

I'm not sure if I like the new mix of Ambulance as much as the older one. Maybe that's just because I've listened to the original 348,452 times and I need to get used to the new one.

Ha I've listened to it 348,453 times since I discovered it. :heart

https://filtermagazine.com/index.php/news/entry/first_impressions_eisley-the_valley/
First impressions review of the album. Inspired me to go out and buy Combinations. Too bad Best Buy didn't have it :-[ I need more of this band, because Room Noises has become one of my favorite albums ever.
-
I know I'm in the minority but I think Combinations is just as strong as Room Noises. They're very different records and I appreciate them for different reasons.
It excites me so much that the two songs we've heard from the new album are among the best in their catalogue. The Valley is going to be amazing.
-
HOW HAVE YOU NOT GOTTEN COMBINATIONS YET WTF MAN
-
Now if Stacy would just dye her hair black again everything in Eisley-land would be peachy.
-
hey matt get combinations hey matt get combinations hey gorille get combinations hey everyone get combinations.
-
I'M TRYING.
NO ONE HAS IT.
ARGHAGHGHGHGHGHGGHHG
-
You're not trying hard enough.
-
Combinations was easier for me to find than Room Noises was.
-
I haven't been able to get my hands on Combinations either, I've just been using youtube :millahhhh
-
Bought Combinations. Gonna need a few more listens, but I don't see anything wrong with it except that I'm liking the whimsicalness of Room Noises better.
-
That's definitely what sets Room Noises apart for me. The actual songwriting is nearly as good however.
-
I really like what I've heard of Combinations, but you're right about the whimsicalness of Room Noises. I'm gonna go listen to it now :D

Talk about Ten Cent Blues and how awesome it is. Go!

I haven't listened to Room Noises in well over a year.
I think that should be remedied.

-
Just the distorted guitars and lyrics. Its a lot heavier than Eisley normally is. Just a joke. RELAX MAN TAKE A :hat
-
I cannot remember Combinations for the life of me. I listened to Room Noises yesterday and I smacked myself for not listening again sooner.
Really like the new song.
-
Bumping the thread due to the unstoppable urge to tell as many people as possible how fucking AMAZING Combinations is. :hat
-
I listened to Combinations on the way to school. No bad songs, but few memorable ones. Need to listen some more to see if it clicks for me the way room Noises did.
-

That does it.
As much as I love Combinations, it's now perfectly clear that The Valley is going to completely kick its ass.
-
Psyched about the new album.
Haven't heard Combinations yet (bad i know), i really gotta fix that first. :P
-
Bumping the thread due to the unstoppable urge to tell as many people as possible how fucking AMAZING Combinations is. :hat
It's a great album, at this stage I would say that it is on par with room noises.
As for the new songs, ambulance could just about be my favourite Eisley song. Smarter sounds good too but I don't think it's one of their best.
-
Is there a date on the new album yet?
-
March 1st.

I found a used copy of the Laughing City EP yesterday and just gave it a spin. A random collections of thoughts:
It made me realize how happy I am with their production nowadays. The versions of I Wasn't Prepared and Telescope Eyes sounds like demos compared to what appeared on Room Noises.
Holy fuck distorted guitar. They didn't save it for special occasions back then, it's in every song!
I really like the three B-sides on the album, Tree Tops, Over the Mountain, and Laughing City. I'm glad I picked this up just for them.
-
After hearing all the talk about this band here, I'm going to try them later today.
They pretty much stole my middle name for their band name, so they better be good.
-
After finally buying the hype you guys have been pimping, I stop by to say that I am now enjoying Room Noises.
Carry on.
-
Our hype has not taken full effect until you begin listening to Room Noises 10 times every day and you've built a shrine to it in your closet.
-
I don't think I've regularly listened to Room Noises since 2006. I don't know why.
The timing is rarely right. That's it.
-

Room Noises doesn't have enough bleeps and bloops for you.
-

Also, it stopped being indie in 06 when someone else heard of them.

I have EP2 but not Laughing City so I'm not sure if the versions are the same, but I love the old arrangement of Telescope Eyes with the distorted guitars.
Blackened Crown is also one of my favorite songs of theirs.
-
NEW SONG?!?!?! :caffeine:
-
I'm holding off on all the new songs until I hear the album in full.
-
Pre-orders now available: https://equalvision.merchnow.com/
It's weird that the lithograph isn't also signed by Garron and Weston. I mean, I know they have penises but they are in the band too.
-
Yeah that's kinda lame, though they suffer from being the non-female, non-singing, rhythm section of a band that has basically no focus on the bass or drums at all.
-
Preordering the vinyl now :D
-
I would have ordered the CD and a Lithograph if there was an option for it. I don't listen to vinyl, so I don't really want to pay that much more just to get the parts I do want. I got the CD though, so I'm happy.
-
Agreed. I have access to a turntable almost none of the time, and even when I do it's total shit and doesn't have a good sound system to hook into. Totally useless.
-
I asked about the Garron and Weston signature thing on their status update and my comment has gotten a few likes already, so clearly we're not the only ones who think it weird.
-
Nathan: The Litho will be signed by everyone... like, real signatures. The art was created by the girls... so we added their sig's on the print so you'd know who drew/painted what. :)
Ah, my mistake. Nice of them to clarify though.
-
Yeah that's kinda lame, though they suffer from being the non-female, non-singing, rhythm section of a band that has basically no focus on the bass or drums at all.
As cruel as it sounds, I don't care about Garron...at all. They could lose him and not have a bass player at all, and I wouldn't give half a fuck.
-

That was... cold and cruel. :'(

What? There are some pretty nice bass parts. Nothing uber technical or in your face, but I think you would notice if the bass was actually taken out.
-

wot
I only know Room Noises (heard Combinations once), but the bass definitely enhances the music, and fills it out nicely on the bottom end of the scale (their songs seem to tend to higher registers, which the bass complements nicely).
-

Once again we disagree. Maybe I'm a bit biased in this regard, but they'd lose a lot without a bass player. There's a lot of nice, tasteful, simple stuff in the low end.
-
Yeah, the bass and drums have some interesting moments on their songs.
-
I'm not sure how much Garron actually brings to the table that another bassist couldn't, but they certainly need a bass player. Gadough, as usual you fail terribly at life.
-
I guess I've just never noticed it. :-\
Edit: "It" being the bass. I can't recall ever actually picking up on it.
-
Are you a musician? The bass is definitely there. Maybe your speakers are bad, but even then, you would definitely notice a difference (it would feel "airy" and not full).
But I know that sometimes, non-musicians don't know that sort of stuff, which is understandable.
-
I think you would know the difference pretty quickly if the bass was gone.
-
No I'm not a musician, but I don't think you have to be to notice a bass presence. I can usually pick out the bass player in any band I listen to, regardless of how buried he is in the mix. But you're right, I'm sure if they took him out I would notice a difference, I just don't like that I can't pick him out. But that's my own fault, I guess.
-
I am listening to random songs off of Room Noises right now, and the bass is very good in the mix, it stands out very well. I picked it up right away. He isn't buried you awesome dog.
-
*shrug*
-
Listen to Marvelous Things, you can definitely hear him come in after the first "Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah". That's probably a good way to gauge the bass on the album, at least partly.
-
OK see I can totally hear it there because you pointed out a specific part for me to focus on. But if I were just listening to the song in passing, I never would have heard him.
And btw, I can't for the life of me pick it out in the chorus. I just can't. I'm trying really hard.
-
It stays the same, it's just that the chorus gets louder from the other instruments. I can still follow it through the chorus. and the second verse after the chorus the bass is very audible as the other instruments really quiet down.
-
Some other factors:
1. kps. I have Room Noises at 320 kps, which is great. Really brings out a lot of the crisp and clean sound quality. You may have a lower kps, I don't know.
2. Speakers: If you have crappy speakers, it may be harder to notice it. (although my speakers are run of the mill).
3. Like I said, if the other instruments go from soft to loud (like in Marvelous Things, you may lose where the bass "was going", but it is still there, which leads me to point number 4
4. Sometimes the bass is more felt than heard. I find that I can sometimes feel where it is without actually knowing what's the general bassline being played.
-
So, what can i expect from Combinations? (haven't heard it yet) :corn
-
Like Room Noises, but with a little bit more of a Rock sound.
-
And much less lighthearted whimsy.
-

Sherri nooo!!! Why did you have to dye your hair pink?!?!?!?
-
Because she's awesome.
-
I'm not into the pink hair. :-\
-
Don't fret. It won't stay pink for long. Sherri changes her hair color every few months.
-
I guess it's not so bad. She still manages to be pretty fuckin' adorable even with pink hair.
-
So apart from Room Noises (which I've had for a while), I now have Combinations and Fire Kite EP on my computer also.
Gotta listen as soon as I have time.

Just discovered this band, holy damn. They push my buttons.

AGGHHH I NEED THE NEW ALBUM NAO
-
So I just learned that Eisley's playing in Asheville tomorrow opening for some band called Rooney. :caffeine: I'm seriously considering it. Need to find someone to go with who's willing to leave before Rooney's set is over. I have early classes on Monday.
EDIT: Whelp. I bought tickets.
-
I hate you.
-
If it makes you feel better its only a 45 minute set.
I've had Many Funerals and Invasion stuck in my head all day. I hope I'm not totally burnt out on Eisley before the Valley even comes out!
-
OH NO ONLY 45 MINUTES OF SOME OF THE MOST WONDERFUL MUSIC EVER HOW WILL YOU EVER SURVIVE
-
Well I mean, you can hate people who saw a full set more than you can hate me? Or something?
Oh God its going to be great I'm so excited.
-
I hate anyone who's ever seen or gets to see Eisley live.
-
Don't hate me Sigz. I'm not special like you.
-
Don't hate me Sigz. I'm not special like you.
That's right, because people like us are even more special. We've seen Eisley live.
-
Oh my god I got to meet them (except Weston, he was playing roadie) and got a poster and my copy of Room Noises signed. They were SUPER nice and so adorable in person. :caffeine: We have a shitty cell phone picture with them (my friend and I both forgot real cameras ) They played a bunch of new songs beyond the three that have been officially released, and all of them were very good. The new album is going to be great! :caffeine: :caffeine: :caffeine:
Here's the setlist (spoilers)
Better Love (new song)
Golly Sandra
Many Funerals
Brightly Wound
Smarter
The Valley
Invasion
I Wasn't Prepared
Sad (new song)
Ambulance
Mr. Moon (new song)
I think that's right...
-
Hey Matt.
Have I ever told you how much I hated you?
I think I have, but here's a friendly reminder in case you forgot.
I hate you so much right now.
Not a bad setlist, though. And no matter how crappy the cell phone pic is, I still want to see it.
-
I'm seriously going to cry.
-
I'd pay good money to see Sigz cry. Matt, post the pic.
-
I love you Sigz. Not you though, Gadough. Too much bad blood between us.
I'll post the pic as soon as I'm able.

HOLY CRAP!! My first listen ever of Eisley and the first song, The Valley was amazing!!

Welcome to the DTF Eisley Fanatics Club, king. Enjoy your stay.

On my second listen now. The chorus of Watch it Die <3
-
HOLY CRAP!! My first listen ever of Eisley and the first song, The Valley was amazing!!
That was the highlight of the concert I saw last night. I started jumping up and down like an excited twelve-year-old.
Almost done with my first listen of the Valley. Other than the songs we've all already heard, "Better Love," "Mr. Moon," and "Please" are becoming fast favorites (helps that I saw the first two on that list last night :D)
-
Sad and Mr. Moon were definitely the highlights for me.
-
I liked "Sad" on the album, but live it had a lot more energy.
-
I'm going to kill you.
-
Alright. Count me in. I'm loving the vocals, hooks melodies. Thanks for the FB links.
-
I'm going to kill you.
I'm only kinda-rubbing it in your face because of your reactions :heart :heart :heart
EDIT: Though live, Stacy was playing electric guitar, so you don't hear those lovely piano flourishes you hear on the album. Damn this is great!
-
Sad and Mr. Moon were definitely the highlights for me.
Sad was the best.

GODDAMMIT
-
Did you screencap/crop that Sigz or were you able to save it? If the latter, how?
-
Holy shit dude you're like the jolly green giant in comparison to them. I lol'd
-
THEY'RE SO ADORABLE IN PERSON WHY DO THEY ALL HAVE TO BE MARRIED?
-
I know man. If it weren't for that, I'd marry Weston in a heartbeat.
I assume the one standing next to Garron is Christie?
Edit: Or is that your ladyfriend?
-
It doesn't look like her, and I'm pretty sure she's not touring with them.
-
The girl next to Garron is my friend Tori who I found out likes Eisley the day before. This whole thing was all very spur-of-the-moment. A bunch of other friends were thinking about going, but they were too jewish to pay $15 for a ticket.

In other lols, I just got an email from merchnow saying I could download the album. Awesome, right? Problem is according to the download bar I will have to wait three days. Wait till site traffic dies down, I guess.
-
Part of Eisley's latest newsletter:
We're still out with Rooney... things are going great. We have about 4 more shows to go before we head home to prepare for the headlining tour (tba asap!) :-)
:caffeine:
-
Awesome!
Another unfortunate truth about the complimentary legal album download: they don't tell you you only have three chances. So trying to download twice on accident while chrome felt like crashing, followed by the recent ACTUAL download attempt until I saw it was going to take 16 days and rising means I can't get my free download :(. Sent an email to MerchNow. Hopefully they'll help.

Part of Eisley's latest newsletter:
We're still out with Rooney... things are going great. We have about 4 more shows to go before we head home to prepare for the headlining tour (tba asap!) :-)
:caffeine:
I saw Rooney last year. That's sounds like a good show to see.
-
Second listen. I'm really liking this now.
-
It's weird... I think a part of them wants me to listen to their second album before the new one... (only heard Room Noises so far)
-
Uhh well that's your choice, but I've listened to the album stream once, and I already think The Valley is better than Combinations.
In other news, I love this picture of Stacy. It's so...elegant. I mean I could be a pig and comment on how fucking hot she is, but that wouldn't be doing her justice here. Very classy and beautiful.
-
she's fucking hot.
-
Yeah, The Valley is definitely better than Combinations, this album is fucking gold. Oxygen Mask is probably the only truly weak song on the album.
-
OK, I'm totally addicted now.
Also, this is surprisingly dark lyrically speaking.
-
Yeah, I think most of the lyrics are inspired by Sherri's failed marriage with the New Found Glory guy and, according to Spin, a broken engagement on Stacy's end, combined with all the record label troubles, there's a lot more sadness than the last two but the music's still fairly optimistic.
-
a broken engagement on Stacy's end
WHAT KIND OF PERSON WOULD DO SUCH A THING
-
I don't know. I checked wikipedia but it didn't mention it. Of course, the NFG guy broke Sherri's heart, so there are just a bunch of idiots in the world, I guess.
Did anyone see Christie DuPree e-heckling the band on livestream last night? "I NEED A WAAAAAAAAAAAAHMBULANCE" was one of my favorites :lol
-
I didn't see it, I was working and totally forgot :sadpanda:

:lol During "I Wasn't Prepared" she was like I wasn't prepared...to hear this song so many times
-
Listening for the first time now. I really love Smarter so far, The Valley/Watch It Die were okay.
-
God I can't get enough of this album.
:hearts:
-
I've only listened to it a couple times since you have to stream it. Once it actually comes out I'll be listening to it a lot more.
-
God I can't get enough of this album.
:hearts:
Same. Not a day has gone by when I don't have a melody from one of the songs on this album stuck in my head.
I've also noticed that "Please" and "Mr. Moon" could have been just as good, if not better, closers than "Ambulance" is.
-
Shut your trick mouth.
-
Listened through the album a couple of times.
It's good but i'm not in love with it yet. It might need some time to grow, though this wasn't the case with the other Eisley albums.
God I can't get enough of this album.
:hearts:

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Ambulance is incredible.
-
I agree Ambulance is amazing. I was just saying that "Please" and "Mr. Moon" could have been great album closers as well.
-
It just got here in the mail!
-
So Gadough, you live in Dallas, right? Gonna try and stalk Eisley at their album release?
-
Ambulance is such an amazing song. :heart
-
So Gadough, you live in Dallas, right? Gonna try and stalk Eisley at their album release?
No, I live in Loozeeanna. If I did live in Dallas you bet your ass I'd stalk them.
-
But you're seeing Coheed in Dallas? Or St. Louis? I can't keep track of your damn personal life, sorry.
-
I think The Valley and Ambulance are still my favorite songs from the record. Stacy 4 lyfe.
-
Add "Better Love," "Sad," "I Wish," "Please," "Mr. Moon" and "Oxygen Mask" to that list for me.
-
No <3 for Watch it Die? Love that chorus.
-
I knew I forgot something!
-
But you're seeing Coheed in Dallas? Or St. Louis? I can't keep track of your damn personal life, sorry.
That's a shame, because I'm keeping track of yours.
*blows kiss*
-
It's my second or third time streaming the album and it is very good. Solid songwriting, beautiful harmonies and good hooks all-around.
-
I'm digging this album a lot more now, current favourites are 'Sad', 'Ambulance', 'Better Love' and 'Mr Moon'.
A couple of gripes...
- The valley is an awesome song but they needed to more with that bridge or at least have it come back in over the final chorus or something.
- They recycled a melody in 'Watch it Die' where it goes 'I don't have the time' it is exactly the same as 'Let's give it a try' in Come Clean off combinations. Not sure why this annoys me so much but it really affects my enjoyment of the song which is otherwise great.
-
Really? I don't think it sounded exactly the same...
-
It's not the same. And I think The Valley is perfect.
-
OK it's not exactly the same but it is enough for me to think the next line coming is 'let's keep it for truth' and it bugs me.
But, overall, this album delivers.
-
Wow this album is pretty amazing. "Ambulance" makes me cry, and "Sad" and "Please" are also fantastic. A great record.

Tour dates announced!
Eisley will launch a six-week U.S. headlining tour in late April, supporting their third album, The Valley (Equal Vision Records). The Turning Tides Tour kicks off April 26 in Atlanta, and the run of club dates will also include a set at The Bamboozle Festival in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on May 1 and a headlining slot at Bled Fest in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on May 28. See reverse for a complete list of dates.
The Valley debut...s this week at #75 on the Billboard 200 Current Albums chart and also hit #5 on Amazon MP3's Top 10 Album Chart for the week and #3 on Amazon's New Albums chart.
Reviews of the album have been universally positive. The Big Takeover has already declared it "one of the best albums of 2011," while Creative Loafing Tampa said, "Eisley comes off as more orchestrated, more mature, and more inspiring than ever." Under The Radar said that "the tunes are imminently enjoyable and the interplay among the DuPrees' voices is always thrilling." The Boston Globe wrote, "In almost every Eisley song, there's something -- a turn of phrase or a curl of the melody or a shift of the chords -- that doesn't go quite where you'd expect it to. [There's a] sense of shining a light into corners to which most acts don't bother paying attention." And AbsolutePunk.net said, "Even when I write that The Valley is the band's best album yet, it still feels like a huge understatement - like I'm not giving the album enough credit. Just believe this: The Valley is an album that will stick with you."

What sucks about most of the American-bands/artists, is that touring outside of USA is not on the map.
Sucks for me, I'll never get to see Eisley or Thrice for example. :sadpanda:
-
I wouldn't say never. They are starting to get bigger.
-
I'm pretty sure Thrice has played in Europe, at least I know they've played festivals before.
-
Well probably, but it's probably like 200 gigs in USA, 3-4 in Europe. :P
It's kinda obvious if you compare American bands/artists to others, a band from Europe (for example) would most likely play several gigs in USA, but most likely the biggest cities mainly.
American bands has to play every little town with 50 citizens, just because. ;)
-
I'm honestly not sure where you're getting this idea from, as there's plenty of American bands that have an easier time touring Europe than America (Spock's Beard and Rosetta just off the top of my head).
-
Yeah Thrice have definitely played Europe before. Target markets man. You don't often see small indie rock/pop bands touring outside of America. It just doesn't look like there's a huge demand for it in Europe the way there's a demand for it here.
-
lol at promoters or event bookers that create tours with no NY dates.
-
Thanks for the tip on this band guys. I'm playing the hell out of the new CD.
-
Oh man, I almost forgot, I need to start crying because I have to miss an Eisley headlining show once again because of massive amounts of schoolwork. :'( :'( :'( :'(
I swear to God if they play "Please," "Memories," "Telescope Eyes," or "Ten Cent Blues" this tour I will rage so hard.
-
I still think I like Combinations more, but this is a solid record nonetheless. Pretty much what I'd expect from Eisley, though.
-
Really? It blows Combinations out of the water for me.
-
Some of the songs (I Wish, Better Love) are just alright, while on Combinations I like all of the songs. And it has their best song on it (Combinations)
-
Combinations is actually my least favorite song from that album :lol
Oh man, I almost forgot, I need to start crying because I have to miss an Eisley headlining show once again because of massive amounts of schoolwork. :'( :'( :'( :'(

What kind of pussy ass excuse is that?! JUST GO!
-
Combinations is actually my least favorite song from that album :lol
God dammit Joe.
Oh man, I almost forgot, I need to start crying because I have to miss an Eisley headlining show once again because of massive amounts of schoolwork.
God dammit Matt.
-
I hold the rest of it in higher regard than you do I think, so it's not saying much. I still like it.
-
Have we ever had an Eisley survivor?
-
I'd participate.
Oh yeah, the new album still blows Combinations out of the water. Might be on par with Room Noises for me, I think. Tough to tell...
-
I'd participate!
I'm not sure if I like Room Noises or The Valley more. I think that The Valley has my favorite Eisley songs, but enjoy Room Noises more start to finish. It's a tough call.
-
I mentioned running an Eisley survivor a while back. But you can take the reins if you want to, Glaurung. As long as Just Like We Do is the first song to go, I'll be happy.
-
That's probably my least favorite from Room Noises as well. OMG WE AGREE ON SOMETHING!!!!11
-
But Just Like We Do is one of the best songs on Room Noises? :(
If not even THE best.
-
It's easily the least memorable. I've listened to Room Noises countless times, and I couldn't tell you how that song goes if my life depended on it.
-
But Just Like We Do is one of the best songs on Room Noises? :(
If not even THE best.
Dude, Lost at Sea? Memories? Telescope Eyes? One Day I Slowly Faded Away? Trolley Wood? Brightly Wound?
-
I've been liking this album a lot.
I'd have to do a lot of brushing up for the survivor though, I don't think I've regularly listened to Eisley like this since Room Noises came out :lol
I know, I need punishing.
-
But Just Like We Do is one of the best songs on Room Noises? :(
If not even THE best.
Dude, Lost at Sea? Memories? Telescope Eyes? One Day I Slowly Faded Away? Trolley Wood? Brightly Wound?
That one.
-
That was my first favorite from Room Noises. Not sure what it is now.
-
But Just Like We Do is one of the best songs on Room Noises? :(
If not even THE best.
Dude, Lost at Sea? Memories? Telescope Eyes? One Day I Slowly Faded Away? Trolley Wood? Brightly Wound?
Those are all really good, but I think I prefer Just Like We Do by a small bit. :P
-
I love the new album: The Valley, Sad, Better Love, Smarter and WAAAAMMMMBULANCE are my favorites :tup :tup
-
Mr. Moon is a serious contender for their best song right now.
-
It's definitely my favorite off the album.
-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcftiBt4MzQ
Just found this. :heart :heart
-
Ambulance was and is still my favorite. I usually don't care for hearing music live if I'm not already familiar with it, but when they played Ambulance last fall it was one of the highlights of the show. It's so beautiful and amazing and.... :heart
-
So, got both The Valley and Combinations, haven't spinned any of them yet.
Not really sure which one would be best after only knowing Room Noises. :P
-
The Valley is probably the better album, but they're both very good.
-
I like Combinations better. *runs*
-
I like Combinations better. *runs*
*headshots with a sniper rifle*
-
I like Combinations better. *runs*
Joe. I don't even know what to say.
-
I think Combinations is better than some of you give it credit for. I'd agree That the Valley is better but I can certainly understand someone liking Combinations more.
-
CONCERT RIGHT NAO: https://www.livestream.com/equalvision?lsci_op=209801738
-
SHIT LIVESTREAM REALLY AWESOME!
EDIT: FUCK ITS OFFLINE WHAT DO?
-
My girlfriend just sent me this album. I'm loving it! It's cool, too, because I'm usually the one buying all the music. Nice to see her pulling her weight, and buying something good to boot!
-
Awesome girlfriend is awesome. :metal :metal :metal
-
The Valley is fantastic.
Played it two times, and it's probably my favorite album (this far) of 2011.
-
Holy shit the valley is addictive. Basically, this is how it's gone:
1st listen (at the gym): this is nice.
2nd listen (on the way back): man, some of these songs are really good.
3rd listen (laying on my bed super tired): best album I've heard from this year so far maybe?
4th listen (right now): every single one of these songs is my new favorite song!!!
This all happened today, btw.
-
'Cause I've finally found out
you're on my side
with a bullet for the bad guys.
Hallelujah.
:metal :metal :metal :metal :metal

So I just joined my campus radio station, and the second-in-command is this girl who looks EXACTLY like Sherri Dupree. I would post a pic from her Facebook, but the concept of some random guy she's spoken to once posting her pic on a message board seems creepy, so I'll refrain from doing so. Just take my word for it.
-
she'll never know, do it.
-
Well, that's all the motivation I needed.

-
:lol
Oh wow, she does look like her!
-
The Valley should get even more cred here then it is already getting, already beating Room Noises for me.
Watch it Die is probably my favorite, but this album is full with fantastic songs. :hat
-
:lol
Oh wow, she does look like her!
Told you so.
When I was introduced to her, I stopped dead in my tracks for a few seconds and didn't say anything. I'm sure that didn't come across as creepy at all.
-
those eyes would stop me in my tracks, too.
edit:

Watch it Die is so fucking good. Might be my favorite as well.
-
Gadough, you know what to do. :eyebrows:
-
Yeah except she's in a long term relationship and she's engaged.
-
She looks like Sherri Dupree. IT MUST BE DONE.
-
Engaged? In college? It won't last. GET ON IT.

Yes it is, but Mr. Moon is the best them.

That would be true if Ambulance wasn't the best them.

Engaged? In college? It won't last. GET ON IT.
k she's helping train me on Thursday I'll cop a feel and let you guys know how it went
-
You guys are awful... :lol
But looking at that picture... goddamn. :o
-
Good luck with her fiancé!
Just don't make the burial spot too conspicuous.
-
:rollin
-
I hate feeling like the bandwagon jumper, but I bought The Valley off of iTunes in my quest for new music, and it's a really good album. :) I'm not 8============================D over it yet, but it's very enjoyable.
-
Purchasing and enjoying The Valley does not make you a "bandwagon jumper." Quite the contrary. It means you know what the fuck is up.
-

;D
I'll probably dig through the rest of their discography after I've let The Valley sink in, along with the ocean of other new music I've downloaded recently :o

Good.

SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD I'M S0 SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD
-
Gah the new album is so awesome.
Really should check out Combinations also. :P
-
Wow that girl has stunning eyes :heart
-
Alrighty kiddos. I've been looking for some new music, so I picked up Eisley's new album. Y'all better not disappoint me! :)
-
Just Like We Do :heart
Easily my favorite on Room Noises.
-
My tickets arrived yesterday. :caffeine:

:heart :heart :heart
-
Aaaah they're so cute!
-
What is the best song off of Combinations?
-
....Well, damn, I'm not sure now that I think about it. Part of me wants to say Ten Cent Blues. The other part of me wants to say I Could Be There For You. The third part of me is telling the other two to shut the hell up because Taking Control is clearly superior.
-
Make up your mind I need new music I haven't really listened to it I am on youtube run-on sentences suck
-
Tie between Ten Cent Blues, Invasion, Many Funerals, Come Clean, and Taking Control.
-
If you put a gun to my head, I'd say Taking Control.
-
Upon reading that, I decided that Taking Control is not in the running for best song on the album. I have a reputation to uphold, you know.
Don't tell anyone Gadough but Taking Control is still definitely tied with those other songs, but we can't have us partially agreeing on something, can we?
-
It's between Tent Cent Blues and Combinations...
You know it.
-
The title track is one of my least favorites, actually.
-
WHAT
-
Oh good, we fully disagree on something now! Phew!
-
it's Ten Cent Blues. Believe it.
-
It's between Tent Cent Blues and Combinations...
You know it.
Couldn't agree more
-
Just picked up The Valley yesterday, I like it a lot. I don't think it's quite as good as Room Noises, but a few more listens could change that.
-
Yup, I've been relistening and I love it now, it's grown so much on me since my first listen
-
On a mildly related note, Chauntelle's husband, Todd D'agostino, who makes their guitars, is a massive Porcupine Tree fan and apparently has made guitars for both SW and Mikael Akerfeldt :metal :metal
-
Really? Man I wore my Coheed shirt to the show and there was a brief conversation about them because they used to be on Equal Vision as well. I could've talked extensively about Porcupine Tree instead!
-
Yeah, if you go to his twitter his info thing says:
I am a crazed Luthier who cares for nothing but Wood, Tone, Detail, New York style pizza, and Porcupine Tree!
He mentions PT but not Chauntelle, my kinda guy :lol
-
Just listened to The Valley again. I like it more with each listen. Still nothing that absolutely floors me, but it's a really solid pop album that will probably make my best of 2011 list.
I'll check out Room Noises and Combinations soon or later.
-
You're not absolutely floored by Mr. Moon, Better Love, Sad, The Valley, Ambulance, Please, I Wish, Watch it Die, or Oxygen Mask?
Where's your soul, man?
-
You're not absolutely floored by Mr. Moon, Better Love, Sad, The Valley, Ambulance, Please, I Wish, Watch it Die, or Oxygen Mask?
Where's your soul, man?
IT COULD STILL HAPPEN, just not now. I've only listened to it a few times :P
-
You mean you weren't listening to it almost every day for the month and a half after it came out?
-
Well... you see... I, uh.... um.... erm... well I.... uh
-
You're not absolutely floored by Mr. Moon, Better Love, Sad, The Valley, Ambulance, Please, I Wish, Watch it Die, or Oxygen Mask?
Where's your soul, man?
WHY THE FUCK YOU DON'T HAVE "KIND" ON THAT LIST.
SERIOUSLY.
WHAT.
THE.
FUCK.
and I Wish is the weakest song on the album, you know it.
*Goes to the exit door*
-
Kind and Smarter are just beneath perfect for me.
-
Kind and Smarter are just beneath perfect for me.
More like... err I got nothing. Carry on.
-
Oxygen Mask is easily the weakest song.
-
I'd have a hard time saying any of them are "easily" the weakest. It's a pretty consistent album.
-
It's an incredibly consistent album besides Oxygen Mask :P
(Not that it's bad by any means, it's still a good song, just nowhere near the rest of the album)

WHAT?
-
I love all of the new album, but if I had to pick two songs that I like slightly less then the rest, I'd say "I Wish" and "Kind".
They're both great though.
-
Room Noises is giving me massive trolley wood right now.
-
I listened to both Room Noises and The Valley tonight :heart :heart :heart :heart :heart :heart
-
I listened to both Room Noises and The Valley tonight :heart :heart :heart :heart :heart :heart
:heart
I still have to get The Valley. I've heard it a couple of times, but I haven't bought the album yet.
WHY CAN'T I JUST HAVE A JOB
-
BECAUSE GOD INVENTED THE INTERNET SO YOU COULD STEAL ART AWAY FROM FACELESS CORPORATIONS
-
YEAH FUCK THOSE GUYS
WHAT HAVE THEY EVER DONE FOR ME EXCEPT SHIT ON MY FACE AND RAPE MY MOTHER
-
Room Noises is giving me massive trolley wood right now.
:lol
-
My school was putting on a bunch of student-directed one-act plays for a theater class' final. Being friends with lots of theater people, I attended. After the last one, "Just Like We Do" came on the PA (they play songs before and after each play). I was freaking out and singing along and grinning ear to ear. Love how Eisley has that effect on me considering I've been listening to depressing Bright Eyes shit all week.
-
Guys
Trolley Wood is just so perfect. In every way possible.
-
New Smarter video. (https://www.mtvu.com/music/video-premiere/eisley-smarter/)
:caffeine:
-
Meh
-
Not available outside the US :sadpanda:
-
I like the new video. Sucks for you Sigz, they still haven't uploaded it to Youtube for whatever reason.
-
So now that it's been out for a while, does anyone like The Valley more than Room Noises or is Room Noises still the undisputed best album?
-
I'm still not sure. I love both to pieces though. So far the Valley is still my top album this year.
-
Well, The Valley is the only Eisley album I have... I really like it, though.
-
I love Room Noises, and I love The Valley.
Would probably rank them equally great, have not heard Combinations yet. (ye ye, slacky me)
-
The Valley's pretty good, but it's got some forgettable stuff on it compared to Room Noises. I still don't get the hate for Cominbations here, it's much better than The Valley for me.
-
Nothing will ever top Room Noises.
-
Holy crap has anyone looked at the setlist this tour?
SPOILERS:
They're basically playing all of The Valley, just not in the correct order.
SAAAAAAAAAAAD I'M SO SAAAAAAAAAAD :( :( :(
-
That's kinda weird.
-
I'm so excited to see them this Friday. :caffeine:
-
Just listened to Room Noises for the first time the other day.

How were they?
Just listened to Room Noises for the first time the other day.
How was it?

Just listened to Room Noises for the first time the other day.
How was it?
I was pretty "meh" on the whole thing, to be honest.

:-\
Oh well.
-
That's how I was at first as well.
-
Well, to be fair, I like The Valley. I'm not crazy about it, but it has some really nice songs on it.
-
Just listened to Room Noises for the first time the other day.
How was it?
I was pretty "meh" on the whole thing, to be honest.
Get the fuck out of here and never come back.

You can't deny our love, Ian.

This week I actually got around to listening to Combinations for the first time properly, and I really liked it at first listen.
Invasion is fantastic. :heart
-
Alright so The Valley is their best album...
-
Alright so The Valley is their worst album...
Yep!
And I sincerely mean third best.
-
I'd easily take The Valley over Room Noises, however I need to give Combinations more spins in order to rank that.
-
I feel like I'm the only one around here who REALLY likes Combinations.
-
I feel like I'm the only one around here who REALLY likes Combinations.
I really liked it as well, but I've only heard it like two times. =P
There's no way I can compare it to The Valley or Room Noises yet, seeing as I've spinned those about ~15 times each, at least!
-
Alright so The Valley is their best album...
My thoughts exactly. Although Room Noises isn't far behind.
-
I feel like I'm the only one around here who REALLY likes Combinations.
Nah, it's awesum.
-
I don't love Combinations as much as Room Noises or The Valley. It's good, but not great. It's a good example of a "sophomore slump".

Eisley has also announced that they are currently recording a new EP, with an anticipated release of late 2011. Andy Freeman, who mixed the band’s latest release, The Valley, has joined the band in Tyler, TX to produce the album. Recording on location at the house of vocalist/guitarist Sherri DuPree-Bemis, Freeman has transformed the house into a high-tech recording studio.
The EP will feature more of Eisley’s signature sound of airy dreaminess delicately intertwined with breathtaking vocals, intricate, rich guitar work and whimsical lyrics.
-
FUCK YOU EISLEY
-
I might go see them in Tyler. It would be cool to see them in their hometown.
-
You have to be fucking kidding me. They play in the town I go to uni, A FUCKING WEEK BEFORE I MOVE UP THERE AND ONLY PLAY IN ANAHEIM ON A FUCKING WEEKDAY NIGHT FUUCAFJVHDSJKLFGHDSJKLDSFJKLDSFJKLHDSF;JKBDSGJKLBFSGFGDSBJKLN;L

Ian don't be a bitch and go to Anaheim anyways.
Also, I am listening to The Valley and it is :heart :heart :heart.
-
It's not a matter of how far it is, it's literally a question of whether I can even get there in time, considering I have to work all day and then have to convince someone to drive me there in the middle of LA rush hour.

I might see about moving up to Santa Barbara early just to catch the show there. We shall see.

What are everyone's favorite songs from The Valley?
I think mine would be Better Love, Ambulance, and Mr. Moon
-
Kind, Mr. Moon, Please.
-
Watch It Die, Oxygen Mask, Better Love and Please.
-
Ambulance, Sad and Smarter in that order

Make sure you tell Sherri that if she doesn't play Lost At Sea in Tyler, a dashing young man named Drew will punch her in her ovaries.

I'll be sure to right after I'm done fanboying out so hard that I have a heartattack and die.

Dude what do you think it was like when I met Toby Driver?
-
I still haven't really gotten into the first two albums properly, The Valley is just that much better.
-
I'd probably rank them: Combinations, Room Noises and The Valley, but they are all great really.
-
OK, I have The Valley and Combinations from Spotify, so at some point today or tomorrow I will spin them and post thoughts. :tup
-
OH MY GOD IM ACTUALLY GOING TO GET TO SEE THEM ON THE 13TH HOLY FUCK SJDFKHDSJKFNHADSFKLJSDKNF

-
Well that was pretty much the most beautiful thing ever. I didn't get to meet them though, I had to leave :sadpanda:
Set from what I can remember:
Ambulance
Smarter
Sad
Invasion
Golly Sandra
Better Love
I Wish
Mr. Moon
Please
One Last Song (new)
I Wasn't Prepared
Many Funerals
I Could Be There for You
Lights Out (new)
Oxygen Mask
Kind
192 Days (just the girls)
All of the new songs were great, I'm psyched for the EP now. Also met up with H, eh's a pretty cool guy.
Also, Stacey is absolutely gorgeous. Like, holy shit. Chauntelle is also a great singer, I hope she does more stuff on their next record.
-
Knows nothing about them. Wants to know what album(s) to check out by them.
-
Listen to Room Noises.
-
How were the new songs?
Hearing Ambulance for the first time at my first Eisley show before The Valley even came out was one of my favorite concert experiences ever.
-
That setlist is sexy
-
Ian I hope you enjoyed my birthday present to you. :D
-
Also met up with H, eh's a pretty cool guy.
:heart
Also, all of them were absolutely gorgeous.

-
Ambulance was a great opener. I think you said you thought it would be the closer? Oh well, either way it's a great song that I underrated before.
They didn't come out until like 12, at which point I was waiting in my car. When they finally came out, I realized how awkward it would be if I just walked out of my car like a creepo, so I chickened out. :lol
Also, some dancing clapping dude from the back maneuvered his way to the front of the stage and got up with them. It was pretty hilarious.

Ambulance was a great opener. I think you said you thought it would be the closer?
That's what I thought, but I honestly had no idea what I was talking about, I was just guessing.
How were the new songs?
Fan-fucking-tastic. One Last Song had this sexy as fuck instrumental bit with a solo from Chauntelle. Pants were smileed.
Also, Many Funerals absolutely slayed. I was never a huge fan of the studio version, but it kicked ass live.
-
I can imagine so. Many Funerals is ferocious by Eisley standards.
-
The band is so much more "heavy" live.
-
The band is so much more "heavy" live.
I can agree with that. It was a bit too loud for me...I'd like it if they kept it around Christie's volume level.
-
12 days! Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
-
At the show now....holy shit, Christie has such a beautiful voice. And I've already seen Weston. Stacy, and Chauntelle just walking around.
And just as I post that, I turn around and see Sherri :-D
-
The Valley is growing on me every time I listen to it.
-
I hate you so much Drew.
-
Don't listen to Ian he wets his bed every other night and sleeps in it because he is a nasty little bitch <3
-
Amazing show. Highlights for me were Many Funerals and Mr Moon, but every song was incredible. Stacy and Sherri sing so well live, and Chauntelle's part in ICBTFY was perfect. I wish I had recorded it.
I met the band after the show and got my ticket signed. I was so fucking nervous talking to them...I hope they didn't notice. I told Sherri that I spent two months listening to Room Noises on repeat. Then Stacy and Chauntelle both told me that they loved my shirt, and I high fived Stacy. :D
I have a pic with them, but I'm having trouble uploading it from my phone. I'll post it later.
-
Ok...unfortunately, two pictures were being taken at the same time here. Someone else was posing with them on Weston's side (who isn't in the shot for some reason). That's why Chauntelle is looking off in a different direction, and probably explains why Sherri looks so confused. I think she was the only one who knew what was going on, and she didn't know where to look. :lol
Oh well. At least Stacy knows what's up.

Sadly I doubt they will ever tour in Europe, but if I ever get to see them, I'll be happy!
-
LOL @ Garron's face. Nice pic, Gadough, glad you liked it!
-
Yeah, Garron was creepin'.
-
I hate you so much Drew.
-

I think The Valley may be in my top 10 for 2011. Great year, and this album is growing on me a lot.

I think The Valley may be taking over for Room Noises as my favorite Eisley album.

I think The Valley may be taking over for Room Noises as my favorite Eisley album.
The Valley is solid...but man, how can you beat Room Noises? It's like...a perfect album. You guys know how critical I am of everything, and I can't think of a single thing wrong with any moment of Room Noises.
-
I agree that Room Noises is pretty much flawless, but I like Combinations and The Valley just as much to be honest.
They are all really good albums.
-
The Valley is way better than RN and Combinations. Combinations is a bit lame to be honest.
-
Yeah, I don't know. I love them both but I just have more of an emotional connection with the songs on the valley.
-
I think The Valley may be taking over for Room Noises as my favorite Eisley album.

The Valley is also a perfect album. Honestly, for me, the two albums are tied. Also, their best song, Mr. Moon, is on The Valley.
-
Mr. Moon is definitely in my Top 5.
-
Could be in my top5 on The Valley, not really sure.
-
Combinations ain't lame, sons.
-
The Valley >>>>> Room Noises
Haven't heard Combinations.
-
The Valley blows doors down....the urgency and fragility of performances is very tangible. It is amazing to me how potent the lyrics are. I have read reviews where people lament the loss of the whimsical vibe but I feel that, considering the issues the girls have faced, this was a logical progression for them.
-
The Valley >>>>> Room Noises
It has potential to be better or at least even with RN, I think, but not by that much.

I bought a print from Sherri, awesome:

Eisley is currently preparing for the early 2012 release of their new 5-track EP. Andy Freeman, who also mixed The Valley, flew in from San Francisco, CA to record the EP at the homes of Sherri DuPree-Bemis and Chauntelle DuPree-D’Agostino, bringing with him his full studio set up to transform their homes into a high-tech recording studio. The ambitious project, fueled by passion and creativity, has resulted in a truly exquisite Eisley album that showcases their spirited songwriting, musicianship, and personalities.
Eisley’s eerie, imaginative storytelling is revealed through their extraordinarily haunting lyrics, ethereal and breathtaking harmonies, and the delicately interlaced richness of warm guitars and graceful piano lines. DuPree-Bemis describes the new EP as the band’s “dreamiest and most whimsical album” since Room Noises.

That was the first song I really got into as well.

New Eisley song is fantastic. Really dreamy and chill. The only thing that concerns me is that it's basically a Sherri solo.
Listening to Stacy's song right now. Different kind of feel, definitely. The strings are a nice touch.

I fucking love The Valley.

You know why that is, James? It's because you're fucking awesome, that's why.

Fanboy.
On a more serious note, I will listen to it tomorrow if I remember. Too tired now.
-
Dude, listen now and let it put you to sleep. <3
-
Just started my second listen, but the first listen was pretty good.
Lights Out stood out on the first time as being really good, but the EP as a whole needs more time. I'm really interested in ordering the EP + T-Shirt bundle, but I'm not sure if it's available to get it shipped to Europe. Will look into it.
-
I had to listen to this like 5 times before I really "got" it, but whoa man it's great. It's rare for me to say this but I wish it was longer!
-
This EP is really great.
-
Their music gets progressively better with each album. You can really feel them getting better as musicians and composers.
EISLEY 204FS32!
-
I'm a bird, I'm a biiiirrrrd
-
I have this now ;) and still need to listen to it.
I haven't heard Combinations since the one time years ago and cannot remember it. The Valley rocks my socks though, pretty psyched for new stuff. Very good band that I hope stays around for a while and gets huge.
-

-
New EP is p cool, will listen more.
-
Man I can't justify a trip to Savannah to see them right now :( :( :( :( :( :( :(
-
OH HEY EISLEY NICE OF YOU TO COME TO CALIFORNIA AGAIN RIGHT
OH WAIT
-
BWAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Must see... MUST SEE
-
Yeah, Spokane is something like a three hour drive. if I hadn't seen them a couple times before I might do it but that's not really worth it for me.
-
Pretty sure I'll be going to the Easthampton show depending on ticket prices. Fact of the matter is I have like no money and so many shows coming up. :|
-
Too bad I will never get to see them live. :(
-
Too bad I will never get to see them live. :(
Why?
-
Too bad I will never get to see them live. :(
Why?
Cause they only tour in the states, and I wouldn't really do a trip to USA just for them. :P They could obviously become bigger in Europe, but to me they seem like one of the bands that are "comfortable" with just touring in the states.
-
Yeah, when I saw them Sherri mentioned a few times that they're always broke. I don't think they can afford to tour Europe.
-

OMG
Christie DuPree is incredible, and so was Eisley
I EVEN GOT TO MEET CHRISTIE OMG SO PRETTY :o
-
Christie is a lovely person.
-
Marksmen were really good too. It was an awesome show, there were only like 20 people there in total. It was basically just a room in the town hall. Setlist was perfect, I was so happy when they played Mr. Moon and Ambulance. :D They seemed to have some sound issues though, Garron walked off the stage during the last song because his bass stopped working, he was pretty pissed
-
I can't imagine Garron getting pissed at anything. Hell, I can't imagine him having any sort of emotion. I don't think I've ever heard either brother talk, even when I met them.
But only 20 people? That sucks. They deserve so much more than that.
-
Any fan of Eisley might really like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9wmSXSID_4&fb_source=message
It's "indie-as-shit" according to the tags. Lofty female vocals. And there the similarities end. Still lovely.
-
Listening to the Valley for the first time in a few months. Mr. Moon is still one of the best songs I've ever heard. :heart :heart :heart :heart :heart :heart :heart :heart
-
I know I'm late to the party and everything, but Room Noises is amazing. The first 6 songs are just perfect - I feel there's somewhat of a dip after that and it becomes a bit repetitive but overall a very strong record.
I will continue with Combinations, I guess I'll go in chronological order.

Ambulance is such a fantastic song.
Indeed.

Just got back from seeing them for the 2nd time. Fantastic show. I was up near the front next to Sherri. The band was really enjoying themselves. It was so much fun, and I can't wait to see them again in the future.
Sherri said that they've already recorded "8 or 9 songs" for the new album and that it should be out early next year.

So did anyone else not really care much for Deep Space? Compared to the rest of their albums i thought it was pretty meh.

I enjoyed some songs on it, but I haven't listened in a while. It kinda felt like "songs that didn't make it onto The Valley" (I don't know if that was the case), but sort of a B-sides feel.
-
I really like it, but it's not something I find myself listening to all that much.

Not sure about the rest, but 192 Days is a b-side from The Valley. A demo of it was released on the Fire Kite EP back when they were sorting out all their record label shit prior to releasing The Valley.
-
I like Deep Space. To my mind, it is like a hybrid of The Valley and Room Noises. Any of those songs could have been on either of those two albums and fit perfectly.
-
I don't know about that, Hayden, but I see where you're coming from and I kind of agree. Kind of.
I like it about equal to The Valley. Which means it's at least better than Combinations.
-
Deep Space is a little too heavy to be on Room Noises, I guess, but the whimsical cutesyness is the common thread between them.
-
I feel ya.
-

I'm pretty sure I even like Combinations more than Deep Space.
-
Combinations is pretty lousy IMO.
-
It's definitely not up to Room noises and The Valley's level but it is still a really good album.
-
It's all right, I guess, if I think about it. But it's not something brilliant like the other two.
-
Combinations is a great album, I'd rank them all pretty consistent with each other.
Show was awesome, there was about 100 people I'd guess at the venue. They sounded phenomenal, the sound was perfectly clear and they were spot on the whole night, stronger than the albums most of the time.
We were the only ones that waited for them to come out after the show, as it was hot as fuck and back in an alley. They also only had a truck compared to the tour bus. For some reason I thought they owned that one I've seen in videos before, but I guess Weston said they rent a lot. (Which makes sense to what Gadough said earlier)
They were super nice also, they came right over as they were between moving gear out. There was a super shitty ramp out the back though and their gear ( only guitar and small cases) fell all over when they came out with the biggest load though haha.
Didn't get any photos with them as it was super hot and late, and in a dark alleyway behind the venue, but I got my copy of The Valley and the poster signed, with Merriment as well. It was a great show overall!

New album announced!

Really excited for this. The Valley is IMO their best album so far, so if the new one will continue down that road in terms of quality, I will be really happy. :)
-
I think The Valley is their best too. There's still some of the whimsicality they had before but it also has a much better production/sound too it and they're bettwe songwirters now than they were when they were so young. Room Noises is still a really close second.
-
Yeah I still really like Room Noises too. Like you said, they matured a lot with The Valley and I really like that. For some reason it seems like every other release the band puts out gets really positive response. Room Noises is an album most people seem to like, Combinations generally is a so-so album (some really like it, some think it's the weakest by far), The Valley got mostly positive when it came, and The latest EP also got so-so reception from what I noticed.
While I don't necessarily agree (I still like both Combinations and the EP), maybe the new album will be as good as The Valley or Room Noises.

So, did anybody listen to the two new songs I posted?
They're pretty good.
-
I agree. I absolutely adore the cover art.
-
So the new album is really nice. I wasn't blown away on the first listen, but with each listen since, another song or so has clicked.
Millstone, Drink the Water and Currents are my favorites so far. :heart
-
How come nobody ever talked about the new album?
Out of all their albums, it took the longest to click by far.
But I'm pretty comfortable saying it's my favorite now.
The only song that's not as good as the other's (I can't say it's not good, because it is still very good; it's just not as very good)
is Millstone.
-
The album took a while longer to click for me as well, but it is pure beauty. If I had to rank the songs from best to worst, I would say:
Millstone
Drink the Water
Wicked Child
Find Me Here
Blue Fish
Currents
The Night Comes
Save My Soul
Lost Enemies
Shelter
Wonder English
Real World
Millstone might just be my alltime favorite Eisley-song. :hat

I've been on an Eisley binge lately, especially playing The Valley over and over again. Then I found out they had a new album! So, listening now. First impression: wow, this is different! But pretty awesome nonetheless!
-
I listened to Room Noises, The Valley, Currents, and Combinations in that order... just because. There were a few gems throughout these albums, but ultimately they bored me. Thought I'd give this band a shot though. I do love the singers.
Also, pretty sure Paramore drew inspiration from this band when writing their latest.

super old bump.
Sucré's new album "Starkisser" is coming out on September 29th.

You know what song is really great? "Save my Soul" from Currents. Those backing harmonies are so delicious.

It is!
Man, I was pretty much there from the beginning with Eisley–Room Noises was in constant rotation during my mid twenties.
That said, Currents is my personal favorite. That album has such a strong, cohesive sense of atmosphere. I love the instrumentation and, of course, the vocals are sublime.
Fun fact: Eisley was the name my wife and I had picked out if our youngest son had been a daughter.
