The show tonight at the Minnesota State Fair was excellent. It was Alex's birthday so they presented him with a footlong corn dog and a pork chop on a stick. After Peart's drum solo, you could tell Alex had just ate the corndog, because there were a few crumbs around his mouth.

Double post.

So, the show was absolutely awesome. But no show is without it's faults. I really disliked the new arrangements with The Temple of Syrinx and Working Man. Everything other than that was brilliance.

What are you talking about? They didn't change anything. Unless you mean the down tuning, but they've been doing that for years.

No, he just sang it differently. Accents and shit.

Hey Nick...I owe you a million.

BTW, there were 10,000 people there and I found you...without trying. Thanks man.

He's been doing that for literally DECADES now.  He simply cannot sing it the way he did back in 1976; hasn't been able to for a long time.  It is no big deal.

Oh, I know. It was just one small complaint about one really big and awesome show.

I really really really hated the Working Man intro though. I think there would be nothing better than having that intro blast into your skull, but no, let's go with polka.

Eh, it's fun, and it's different.  And when they finally bust into the "normal" song, it is pretty awesome.  I have never been a big fan of that song, but it slays live. :metal

No. Not at all.

That initial DUH!! DUH! DU DUH!

Well, you get my point, is the best part of the song, and not seeing that was disappointing but like I said, it was still an amazing show. Absolutely amazing.

Numbers is still failing!

For someone on his 4th Rush tour and 9th show those little changes are awesome little ways of spicing up the shows, and the way they blasted into the regular song was amazing.

I could be mistaken, but I thought 2112 was in standard tune this time around.

They've been tuning down since the TFE tour.  Geddy can't hit the high notes in the olders songs anymore.

I'm aware of that, and it's always been plainly noticeable.  This time around, it sounded normal to me.  Furthermore, Geddy didn't even try to sing the high parts this time around, which was also noticeable.

I get you El Barto.  You meant the drop tuning seems normal now to you.  I'd rather still see them play some old songs and drop a step for Ged than see them not play any.

Nope, still not there.  It didn't sound dropped this time around, but has for the previous 10 years.  What I thought two weeks ago was that they were playing it in the proper key and Geddy just wasn't trying the high parts.

I agree with your position, though.  I just wish they'd take that approach with some of the other classics.  It bums me out that I'll probably never get to see Fountain or Hemispheres played live.

Rush put on yet another awesome show last night in Holmdel. Always sad though to hear the final few notes of the show knowing it's the last bit of Rush for the year, no more shows and probably no new music until 2011.

Did you see Jordan Rudess at the show by any chance? He tweeted a pic that he was there, seemed like he was left part of the stage.

So we have proof that Portnoy and Rudess were at Rush shows, and a Myung sighting as well. What about Petrucci?! I figured he would've caught them by now, but maybe not... if he's busy doing ANYTHING, it should be his upcoming solo album.

I wish I could have gone to Rush show number 33 for me, but I couldn't justify it financially....especially knowing what 2011 will bring.

I still have Allentown in my head despite the traffic getting in and out there. It's incomprhensible to me that they just keep getting better pushing 60. I really want a DVD of this leg with the two intro segments and some other screen shots.
