The Cat Empire - Where the Angels Fall
I'm interested to hear it after quite a big line up change last year, wondering if it also means a shift in their sound.
Update: digging the album a lot! Missing Harry's unique vocals a little, but they weren't that strong/prominent on the last couple of albums, which also were a little weaker as albums anyway. But even though it's all Felix on vocals now, the music is a great return to form, so much groove and energy.

Ariich is a freak, or somehow has more hours in the day than everyone else.

This actually was released last Friday, but I just got my CD in the mail today. I'm only two tracks in, but I am loving the sound here. Massive drum and synth sound, kind of 80s Genesis-ish but more rocky. The debut album last year was good too (if a bit long).

Was smashing the new Vandenberg and Spirit Adrift albums this weekend and gotta say am super impressed with both!

While a departure from their heyday sound, Vandenberg is perfect modern Melrock Mats Leven on vocals was a great choice and Ghost At The Gallow may well be Spirit Adrift's best album yet!   And with that cover art think it will prove to be a perfect LP purchase \m/

I'm pretty excited for Soen's new album this Friday. The quality of their releases has constantly been uprising in my point of view, Imperial being their best. I hope this stays the same with their new album.

Yes to these. RYM had Distant Worlds VI down as last week (or the one before) but I think that was the date it first became available to buy on their own website.

I also have Silent Skies - Dormant.

Yea, looks like it was released to purchase at shows/on the website on the 21st, but on streaming (at least Bandcamp) on Friday.

Tommy Taylor (Eric Johnson, Christopher Cross) released a solo album called Across the Stars today. I had forgotten all about it, but I was listening to Christopher Cross's self titled album this morning and it reminded me that I heard one of the promo tracks from this about a year ago and wondered if the album came out yet. Turns out it came out today, so I downloaded it. Pretty nice singer/songwriter type of album. Don't expect people here to be too interested in it, but I thought I'd give it a shout.

Fuck yeah... I knew this has been coming - didn't they put out a Kickstarter or some crowd-funding back in 2020?  I just didn't know the release date!

Tim... no listening, you got some of this coming in a few weeks.

Interesting, I'd think they'd have way too many harsh vocals for you, and tuned way too low and modern for Tim.   :lol   I don't like the last couple nearly as much as the 00s albums, but I'll definitely be checking it out anyway.

I just googled it and it looks like they crowdfunded the studio rental costs so they could record the album in 2022.

I prefer the 2000's albums as well with Mikkel Sandager, but this new one is pretty good.  There are some great riffs buried throughout the album.  If only Kral would get off his ass and record the Firesoul album he used to blabber about.  Supposedly he was reuniting with Mikkel in a new Mercenary-esque band, but nothing has happened in the last 10-12 years.
