Quote from: illusionist on September 19, 2024, 09:16:47 PMHey @noxon, do you already know anything about the album?
Song titles, lengths, release date, details about the album or have you already....heard it?

Noxon posted the following on Reddit a couple hours ago:  "Don't expect any announcements for a while yet.  The album is just recently done with mastering, artwork is still being worked on."

New album title, "No photos or video - Oops!", confirmed! Talk about crazy album concepts...

Then I'd expect "real" updates around the start of the tour, and that's being optimistic.

Quote from: MinistroRaven on September 20, 2024, 08:06:41 AMI know the setlist for the first show, (and presumably for the rest of the tour is done). Yet, if some changes are allowed I'd like them to take this route:

1. Interactive "Create-a-Setlist" Challenge
Fans vote on their dream setlist for the upcoming tour. The most popular songs are included as part of a special fan-voted set at certain shows.

2. Exclusive Behind-the-Music Documentary
Release a fan-driven documentary where questions submitted by fans guide the narrative of the making of the album. Fans whose questions are chosen get a mention in the credits.

3. Real-Time Studio Jam Sessions
Host live, interactive jam sessions via streaming where fans can suggest musical riffs, themes, or ideas for live improvisations from the band.

4. Fan-Curated Album Experience
Invite fans to create a "listening experience" playlist with songs that have influenced Dream Theater, interspersed with new album tracks. These playlists can be hosted on Spotify/Apple Music, with featured fan commentary.

5. "Musician Fan" Play-Along Contest
Encourage musician fans to cover songs from the new album before it's released (with selected teasers) and have the band pick their favorites for a fan-tribute playlist.

6. Virtual Reality Album Experience
Design a VR experience where fans can virtually "walk through" the studio and interact with different elements of the album production – from instruments to lyric sheets, all set to music from the album.

7. Fan-Generated Album Art Contest
Let fans submit alternative album art inspired by the themes of the album. The winning artwork could be released as a limited-edition vinyl cover or digital download.

8. Crowdsourced Music Video
Release an instrumental track or an unfinished demo from the album and invite fans to submit clips of their interpretation of the music. Combine submissions to create a unique fan-made music video.

9. "Dream Theater Origins" Masterclass Series
Fans submit questions and ideas for band members to conduct masterclass-style lessons. The band teaches fans about how they write music, their techniques, and their gear, tying it into the new album's sound.

10. Personalized Song Dedications
Fans can submit stories about how Dream Theater's music has impacted their lives. The band picks a few compelling stories and records short, personalized song dedications, performed acoustically or as stripped-down versions of the new album tracks.

11. Album-Themed Escape Room
Create a virtual or physical escape room experience based on the new album's themes, where fans solve puzzles to unlock sneak peeks of tracks, artwork, or video clips.

12. "Write with Dream Theater" Lyric Contest
Provide fans with an instrumental section of a song and invite them to submit lyrics. The winning entry could be included in a special version of the song, or as a live performance addition during a tour.

13. Dream Theater Signature Instruments Raffle
Collaborate with the band's signature instrument partners (e.g., Ernie Ball, Ibanez) for a special fan giveaway of instruments signed by band members. Fans who pre-order the album are entered into the raffle.

14. Fan-Run Album Listening Parties
Encourage fans to host their own album listening parties across the world (virtually or in-person). Dream Theater could send a special video message to each party, and a few lucky hosts could have a band member join virtually.

15. AI Dream Theater Jam
Partner with an AI platform where fans input musical ideas or melodies, and AI generates music based on Dream Theater's style. The most creative fan submissions get reviewed and commented on by the band members.

16. Dream Theater Vinyl Mystery Box
Create a limited-edition "mystery box" where fans get a unique vinyl version of the album, along with rare collectibles like hand-written lyric sheets, behind-the-scenes photos, or exclusive band commentary.

This is so comprehensive, did you generate this with GPT or intend to emulate the style?  :rollin  very cool list either way

With him already doing the vinyl re-release thing, I'd say it's a given he'll be doing DT16 too. Portnoy is a hugh fan of him too, so I'm not expecting any changes in that department any time soon.

Quote from: gzarruk on September 20, 2024, 09:43:14 AMNew album title, "No photos or video - Oops!", confirmed!

"No Photos or Video – Oops!" Tracklist:

1. Digital Blur – 8:34
(Opening with atmospheric synths and building into a powerful riff, the track sets the tone for the album, exploring how memories fade when filtered through the lens of technology.)

2. Capture the Moment – 6:45
(A dynamic mix of shifting time signatures, this track mirrors the frantic attempt to freeze time, only to realize that life keeps moving.)

3. The Click (Slipping Away) – 10:12
(A heavy, progressive track with intricate solos. It portrays the moment when life becomes more about the perfect shot than the experience itself.)

4. Ghost of Reality – 7:58
(In this eerie, keyboard-driven piece, the protagonist struggles to reconcile the difference between what was lived and what was captured on screen.)

5. The Lost Snapshot – 5:30
(A haunting, ballad-like track reflecting on moments that were missed or forgotten because they weren't recorded. Featuring a poignant guitar solo.)

6. Data Decay – 11:23
(A complex and multi-part epic, exploring the theme of memories stored digitally, and how they degrade or lose their emotional impact over time.)

7. Viral Reflections – 9:01
(A high-energy track, contrasting intense technical sections with melodic passages, representing the whirlwind of life lived online, driven by the need to share.)

8. In Pixels We Trust – 7:08
(A philosophical reflection on how society has placed faith in technology to record our lives, only to realize that it can't replace genuine human connection.)

9. Faded Frames – 11:47
(The album's grand finale, a slow build-up leading to an explosive climax. The protagonist grapples with the decision to either continue documenting life or step back and simply live in the present. This track brings the thematic journey full circle.)

"No Photos or Video – Oops!" tells the story of a protagonist who becomes obsessed with documenting every moment of their life through photos and videos, gradually realizing that this fixation is causing them to miss out on the actual experience of living. The narrative weaves through the struggle to hold onto fleeting memories, the tension between reality and digital representation, and the eventual realization that life cannot be fully captured or understood through a lens. The album reflects on modern-day issues of technology, memory, and the deep human need to connect with the present.

I really like those suggestions, and that's exactly what I was looking for. Some of it is of course not feasible now, as it requires a budget and time for development (VR experience, etc), but masterclasses, listening parties, and those types of fan interactions would be thing i can bring to the table as suggestions.

The press release will of course explain everything, but as I said it's most likely still a while away...

But man, you guys... I wish I could tell you...

Kinda disappointed if that's the case but what can ya do?? lol I feel having the album out before the US 2025 leg would have only strengthened ticket sales for the tour. I'm already seeing them twice this us tour. Now I gotta expect a 2nd us leg for the new album tour? Damn you DT... my wallet 😭

So Noxon, from what i can tell you have already listened to the whole thing and you seem ecstatic about what DT created.
Now that hypes me up even more about the new album!!

And i have one question.
How do you feel when you listen to our favorite band's new albums long before anyone else listens to them?
Do you feel privileged, is it something you have got used to? Do you sometimes feel a DT family member?
It would be very interesting to know how you feel about your relationship with the band and the guys themselves.

If the press release is awhile away I guess its safe to say they won't be playing a new single on the upcoming tour.

Sigh. It sounds like the best thing to do is just forget about the new album until the press release comes, lest one risks early onset blue balls symptoms.

It would be very interesting to know how you feel about your relationship with the band and the guys themselves.

It feels very surreal that a guy from little Norway has become so connected into the Dream Theater family that I am privileged enough to be involved in the processes around the band. It is a daunting task, and sometimes very lonely because I so badly want to share my excitement with someone and I can't. And when I can listen to an album many, many months before the rest of the world I feel very honored even if this has been true for 25 years now.

When you work with someone for 25 years, of course the relationship changes a bit. It's most definitively a friendly relationship. If you watch my YouTube interviews with them, what you see is natural and unprepared, it's basically me having a conversation with some friends on camera.
