Of course, that's possible.

In an ainterview, Jordan Rudess pronounce the words "film director", talking about Mike Portnoy. I hope it will be a documentary's film, about the writing's process and the composition's process of this futur album.

For me, it's more how he produces the album like a film producer. He understands, from a fan perspective, how things should be arranged.

wizard

Ben_Jamin, I understand what you mean.

Concerning this futur album, I imagine a band's announce for next Friday, because we''be to a month of the beginning's Tour, and fifteen days later, perharps, a first track of this new album. Now look, it's just an hypothesis, and it can be completely bad.

I am thinking the same thing as well...

IF they do not, it just reminds me that DT do not have the best PR. It's basically a tease...

But at least it's not a big troll like what Linkin Park did with that timer. Imagine if DT did that with their new announcement.  :lol

gborland

Remember how we found out about The Astonishing. Some of the local tour promoters mentioned it ("Dream Theater presents... The Astonishing, Live" , which left DT scrambling around in a panic to actually announce the damn album.

Shadowmangini

I will be really surprised if it comes out before Jan 2025 at this point, but if that's the case then a track before 2024 is up is likely!!  :justjen

Is that what the new album is about?
If they name the Bruce Willis character Gabriel and the Samuel Jackson character Daryus, I'm gonna shit.

Speaking of PR... What would you like to see in terms of these things. How would you like to be involved as a fan?

I would like the band to invite me to the studio so they can brief me in person.  ;)

Something. Anything! We are waiting on pins and needles for any nuggets.

Hey @noxon, do you already know anything about the album?
Song titles, lengths, release date, details about the album or have you already....heard it?

Regardless if he did or not, those details exist. We're in that limbo timeframe where a new album EXISTS, it's already there; the songs are there, everyone recorded their parts, but the world doesn't know anything about it yet save few people in the industry.

It's absolutely correct to call View the last DT album but.... DT16 already exists, we judt don't know anything about it yet!

Tommaso D'Aquino, is that you?
(A 13th-century philosopher and theologian who built upon Aristotle's concepts of act and potency.)

Anyway, yes, it's absolutely plausible that it's like that.
And, as I was saying, if they stick to what they mentioned about at least one track from the new album being played already during the first leg of the tour, we shouldn't be too far off from getting new info.

I know the setlist for the first show, (and presumably for the rest of the tour is done). Yet, if some changes are allowed I'd like them to take this route:

1. Interactive "Create-a-Setlist" Challenge
Fans vote on their dream setlist for the upcoming tour. The most popular songs are included as part of a special fan-voted set at certain shows.

2. Exclusive Behind-the-Music Documentary
Release a fan-driven documentary where questions submitted by fans guide the narrative of the making of the album. Fans whose questions are chosen get a mention in the credits.

3. Real-Time Studio Jam Sessions
Host live, interactive jam sessions via streaming where fans can suggest musical riffs, themes, or ideas for live improvisations from the band.

4. Fan-Curated Album Experience
Invite fans to create a "listening experience" playlist with songs that have influenced Dream Theater, interspersed with new album tracks. These playlists can be hosted on Spotify/Apple Music, with featured fan commentary.

5. "Musician Fan" Play-Along Contest
Encourage musician fans to cover songs from the new album before it's released (with selected teasers) and have the band pick their favorites for a fan-tribute playlist.

6. Virtual Reality Album Experience
Design a VR experience where fans can virtually "walk through" the studio and interact with different elements of the album production – from instruments to lyric sheets, all set to music from the album.

7. Fan-Generated Album Art Contest
Let fans submit alternative album art inspired by the themes of the album. The winning artwork could be released as a limited-edition vinyl cover or digital download.

8. Crowdsourced Music Video
Release an instrumental track or an unfinished demo from the album and invite fans to submit clips of their interpretation of the music. Combine submissions to create a unique fan-made music video.

9. "Dream Theater Origins" Masterclass Series
Fans submit questions and ideas for band members to conduct masterclass-style lessons. The band teaches fans about how they write music, their techniques, and their gear, tying it into the new album's sound.

10. Personalized Song Dedications
Fans can submit stories about how Dream Theater's music has impacted their lives. The band picks a few compelling stories and records short, personalized song dedications, performed acoustically or as stripped-down versions of the new album tracks.

11. Album-Themed Escape Room
Create a virtual or physical escape room experience based on the new album's themes, where fans solve puzzles to unlock sneak peeks of tracks, artwork, or video clips.

12. "Write with Dream Theater" Lyric Contest
Provide fans with an instrumental section of a song and invite them to submit lyrics. The winning entry could be included in a special version of the song, or as a live performance addition during a tour.

13. Dream Theater Signature Instruments Raffle
Collaborate with the band's signature instrument partners (e.g., Ernie Ball, Ibanez) for a special fan giveaway of instruments signed by band members. Fans who pre-order the album are entered into the raffle.

14. Fan-Run Album Listening Parties
Encourage fans to host their own album listening parties across the world (virtually or in-person). Dream Theater could send a special video message to each party, and a few lucky hosts could have a band member join virtually.

15. AI Dream Theater Jam
Partner with an AI platform where fans input musical ideas or melodies, and AI generates music based on Dream Theater's style. The most creative fan submissions get reviewed and commented on by the band members.

16. Dream Theater Vinyl Mystery Box
Create a limited-edition "mystery box" where fans get a unique vinyl version of the album, along with rare collectibles like hand-written lyric sheets, behind-the-scenes photos, or exclusive band commentary.

I doubt any of ^that^ will ever happen, but I really like all of it.

Your ideas are very unique and interesting. But most of them are not realististic in my view. The ones that i like the most are 2,6,9,14. But all of them are great. Thanks for your suggestions (even though I'm not Noxon 😋)

Jordan posted a picture on IG that seems to be a test pressing of vinyl to me.

I realize that most, if not all, of my ideas probably won't be used by the band, but I just wanted to share a few suggestions—who knows!
