It's all Morawintersoul's fault. If it wasn't brought up, we wouldn't be in this mess!  :lol

Blaming girls isn't chivalrous, man! A true knight would have gladly accepted the burden of guilt upon himself :lol

Anyhoo, let's summariza what we know about this release:

- Two night will be filmed and released without any cut  and paste (inferred from the next fact)
- The setlist will vary (interview with chudm)
- Something stellar will happen (same source)
- Something good will happen (bosk)
- The Count Of Tuscany will be played (accepted truth )
- It's likely that the two shows will be somehow built on a recurring theme or a sort of underlining idea (I'm just assuming here).

Then we can blame Adami and TGP among others for starting the main argument, as I wasn't involved.  :P

OMG I can't wait for this DVD. If TCOT would be played, I'd probably spontanously bust a nut or something.

I'm paranoid, I'm paranoid, I'm paranoid, it's not real, don't be that guy.
It kicks ass that TCoT is confirmed, so is all the ADToE songs. If there's a sole theme in the release it will be the Dramatic Tour theme.

It's not confirmed, I just said that it's an accepted truth as I can't really see how any sane man could leave it out a DVD release! No real knowledge, just an educated guess.

Progmetty

I hope it's happens though. what makes it a little unlikely is that I assumed they'd be avoiding songs that has significant Portnoy vocals presence on their studio versions, I'm not saying they'll avoid playing these songs all together but at least not for this currently anticipated DVD.

They actually played the song for all the first european leg one exact year ago. They seemed perfectly confortable with it live.

Progmetty

I know that's why I said at least not for the DVD, but I really hope so. I actually haven't seen any footage of them playing TCoT in Europe last year, I wonder how the "Let me introduce" kinda parts sounded without MP :lol

Lol, sorry about that
You know what would be really cool? If they left TCOT out just for the sake of screwing with our brains.

Actually, it wouldn't be cool, it would be fuckin' awful  ;D

No nuts will be busted. I can confirm (via JP himself) that unfortunately TCoT will not be played in Argentina for the filming.
Quote from: BlobVanDam on November 13, 2015, 07:37:14 PMAs a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

Interesting.  Makes you wonder if anything from BC&SL will make the set list this summer to make it on to the live DVD/Blu-Ray; Wither is probably the most likely choice now, but probably still one not likely to be played.  It also makes you wonder how much the band really likes that album if they are willing to ignore almost all of it this quickly.  No DT album has ever been ignored on tour this much when it was the following tour (when it was the 2nd most recent studio album), has it?  Only one song played from it in the past year, and even that was for only a brief time.  Maybe FII on the M:2000 tour, which was dominated by Scenes being played from start to finish every night, but Just Let Me Breathe and part of New Millennium were both at least played for the LSFNY show.

BlobVanDam

#762
Also keep in mind that BCASL kind of shoots itself in the foot by being an album of "epics", so song length is always at least a partial factor.
They did include TCOT for the entire first leg, but that's a solid 20 minutes out of the set. We're talking Octavarium/ACOS lengths here, and they don't get played a lot for the same reason. Probably a similar deal with ANTR, and that got played as their drummer audition song, so clearly they considered it representative of that side of the band.
Then we have TSF and TBOT which are more personal to MP (especially TBOT, which I never expect to see, although they have played TROAE, so TSF isn't entirely ruled out, but still unlikely considering it mostly works in context with the entire 12SS).
That leaves the two singles. Wither has been played (?), and I agree that it's likely, especially as it's the shortest on the album. And AROP doesn't work too well without MP's vocals, plus it's not one of the better songs from the album anyway.

I'd say it comes down to circumstance rather than DT's opinion of the album.

KevShmev

It could be a little of both.  Odds are, Wither isn't getting played simply because with the three mellower tunes from ADTOE combined with Wait for Sleep and The Silent Man, there probably isn't room for another slow song in the set.

It'd be interesting to see how much of the album would be getting played if JP liked medleys, as excerpts from ANTR and TCOT would be good candidates for parts of a medley.

BlobVanDam

Good point on Wither, although Wither is still a heavier style of ballad to the rest, so if the setlist is well organized, it shouldn't feel too redundant. They may not even play all of those other ballads for the DVD. The ones from ADTOE are almost a given at the very least though.

And if they were into medleys, they could just play TSF as is. :lol

Shaddap, you! Apart from that one transition to the TROAE reprise, TSF is pure awesome.

MoraWintersoul

Since they've played TCOT on the tour, do you guys think it might end up on one of those future YJR bootlegs James has got a hold of?

Nekov

The first show in BA is sold out. The sale for the second show starts tonight. I am really worried that they won't be able to sell out the second one due to the high prices of the tickets but I'll be there too.  :metal

Most likely. I feel that they will either release the first show with Mike Mangini in Rome or the High Voltage performance in London. Whichever they were to chose, I would be satisfied. :)
