Genesis - Turn It On Again
Rush - Freewill

The genesis one you can learn in about 20 minutes lol

Freewill is :metal. It was the first song I learned on bass. The solo section is a bit difficult to get through, but you can ad lib most of it. Just make sure you get the solo bass stuff perfect

Weirdass and eclectic set, I know, but it's more fun that way. We cater to a lot of different tastes within our band, as you can tell.

That's awesome. I'd love to be in a cover band like that. But I have a multitude of other bands to be involved in too so it'd have to pretty much just be once in a while to have fun.

I wrote more originals for my band back in Ottawa but since I moved to Halifax a year and a half ago I just haven't been as creative for whatever reason...

But yeah, covers are fun.

Haha thanks. It'll actually be our third time performing the song, and each time we've had a different singer. For the first couple years of our band, I was the singer, but when we played it, Lee (setrataeso) sung the last stanza because I knew I couldn't handle it. We played it again at a big two-hour show last summer, for which we recruited a temporary singer to join us so I could focus on guitar (I still did backing vocals on some songs).

Since we moved from Ottawa to Halifax, our band lineup has changed a bit (another guitarist to replace our keyboardist and a new singer) but I have tremendous faith in Kurt so I'm not concerned.

Lee (setrataeso) sung the last stanza

I might also add that I had to be James Labrie and Mike Portnoy at this one point.
Great song to play, though.

Deliverance is kicking my ass, but I'm plowing through. I'm bringing out the leg weights again so I can work on those long strings of double bass.

I think I'm doing the falsetto harmonies in Smooth Criminal, and the backing vocals to Ten Speed, so that will be interesting to sing and drum to.

Looking forward to playing Cock Noodle. :P

Please tell me you've actually come back and this isn't just a false alarm.

No, we were going to be playing at Gus' in the north end next week but unfortunately that show got cancelled at the last minute. We played for half an hour at a Grawood open mic tonight.

GL, great selections.  Good stuff.  You should follow up Maiden's "Rainmaker" with Warrant's "Mr. Rainmaker".  :lol

My band has been working on a few things.  We've got "Centerfold" by J. Geils Band down, and are working on a few country tunes, which makes me crazy.  I hate country, but the one, I will give a pass to.  "T-R-O-U-B-L-E" by Travis Tritt.  It's basically "Johnny B. Goode" meets Stevie Ray Vaughan.  Only reason I brought it up for the band to learn, was because a regular at one of our gigs sent us a request for it on Facebook.  Anytime we have someone specifically ask for something, song-wise, I do my best to make sure we learn it.  With that, we'll likely be learning "Mustang Sally" soon.  The women love that song.

Me(a guitar player) and my friend Alex(keyboard/bass player) Have been working on mainly 2 songs right now. The Dark Side of the Moon(We both consider it to be 1 song.  :P) and A Tout le Monde - Megadeth.
We messed with A Tout le Monde a bit. We changed the clean guitar intro to piano, and added in keyboard at various parts in the song.

As a bass player, i love to play DT songs, so enjoyable and great for practice. My practice day looks +- like this:

1. Evergrey - More Than Ever (warm up) ;)
2. The Mirror -> 3. Lie
4. Surrounded
5. Pull Me Under
6. Forsaken
7. Another Day
8. As I Am
9. You Not Me
10. I Walk Beside You
11. Peruvian Skies
12. The Root Of All Evil
13. Erotomania
14. A NIGHTMARE TO REMEMBER ! :D
15. A Rite Of Passage
16. Wither

Some of them are not challenging (Wither, Forsaken, You Not Me, I Walk Beside You... ) but so cool to play.
Currently I'm working on Ministry Of Lost Soul, great instrumental part, and challenging :D
