A frail becoming- daylight dies
I don't have this particular album but, in reference to your request in the Insomnium thread, it looks like you found yourself a good band to satisfy your craving for melancholic music!
The last three Daylight Dies albums are all immaculate, some of the best melodic death/doom around. For some reason the Finnish melancholic melodeath/doom bands rarely work as well for me. Exceptions would include Noumena, Swallow The Sun/Trees of Eternity/Hallatar, and Amorphis.
Really? No Insomnium? Come on man haha;)
I like some of their stuff mildly to moderately, same with Omnium Gatherum and Be'lakor (Australian, but more Finninish in approach). It just doesn't resonate anywhere near as deep as other styles of melodic/melancholic death/doom, like with Draconian, Katatonia, Raving Season, Enshine, November's Doom, Aeonian Sorrow, Ghostheart Nebula, Thalarion, etc. But the Insomnium Gatherum template is kind of the flagship these days for most people, so I just find it a bit underwhelming. Although the more I think about it there are other good Finnish ones, but they tend to have a bit of a different sound, like Depressed Mode, Shape of Despair, Hanging Garden, Shadecrown, arguably Dark The Suns and Before The Dawn at times. I guess that's more it, I just find the "big three" a tad overexposed and some of those others overlooked in Finland or elsewhere.
